Bladed Hellfire Missile Seen In Action For The First Time
U.S. Central Command has posted the first video ever showing the secretive AGM-114R9X variant of the Hellfire missile in action. R9X is an exotic weapon that features an array of pop-out sword-like blades rather than a traditional high-explosive warhead. It is used as an extremely low collateral damage weapon that can target not just a vehicle, but a specific occupant inside by slashing through the car at just the right spot. TWZ was the first to identify this new weapon's unique effects back in 2017. It has since become something of a gruesome fascination in the public domain, getting nicknames like the 'Flying Ginsu' and 'Ninja Bomb' due to its very unique capabilities.

In the video, we see infrared camera footage of the truck moving along the road when the weapon impacts it causing a cruciform glow. No large explosion or fire is seen, just what appear to be sparks from the damaged vehicle slowing down. Then we get airborne color TV camera footage of the vehicle with the R9X's trademark punched-through hole in its roof over the driver's position.
The vehicle and background align with a targeted killing that was previously reported to have occurred on February 23rd that, at the time, had all the trademarks of an R9X hit, with the usual fragments of the weapon also seen in photos from the aftermath.

The AGM-114R9X was developed in secret and has been used increasingly over the last eight years, including in very high-profile operations, without official acknowledgement of its existence. It is thought to be a weapon of choice for targeted assassinations using MQ-9 Reaper drones operated by the shadowy Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC). The missile also likely features a unique guidance capability that leverages automation in order to strike so precisely on just one part of a vehicle. The targeting FLIR footage seen in the CENTCOM video does show a locked vehicle (the bracket) and a set of crosshairs right over where the R9X was targeted, which could point to how this targeting process is executed, although it is not definitive at this time.
The fact that the Pentagon released a video showing this weapon in action could indicate that we may finally find out official details about the R9X and its origins.

Gulf states aim for Syria to not only move past its decades of bloodshed, but become a strategic asset that's crucial for containing regional Iranian influence. Anchoring Syrian reconstruction around Gulf investment creates mutually beneficial relationships that pull Damascus firmly into the Gulf-Arab minded orbit. Türkiye also occupies a unique position in this architecture. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is invested in Syria's new leadership and cannot afford to see the country fragment into chaos. Turkish firms are ready to expand into Syria, creating natural incentives for Ankara to ensure Syria's new government delivers on reform promises. The broader vision is for a Middle Eastern realignment. From the Abraham Accords to emerging economic partnerships, the region is experiencing unprecedented cooperation against destabilizing actors like Iran. Trump's appointment of Thomas Barrack as Ambassador to Türkiye and Special Envoy to Syria is an important sign of how seriously Trump is taking this. I can attest to Barrack's rare combination of regional expertise and hard-nosed business acumen. He won't be bamboozled by slick presentations. His due diligence process will ensure any American assistance reaches legitimate recipients while building transparent institutions Syria desperately needs. He is also a trusted friend of President Trump, giving him leeway to think creatively about solving the Syrian dilemma. Barrack will oversee the conditional sanctions relief program and see how al-Sharaa responds to incentives. Syria can't be used for terrorism or attacks against Israel, it must cooperate on security matters, demonstrate progress on rule of law and building governing institutions. If al-Sharaa fails, penalties return. If he exceeds expectations, more opportunities open up. Success isn't guaranteed. If al-Sharaa is just playing for time or manipulating international opinion, Trump will quickly detect that and is prepared to respond accordingly. The next year is decisive. If Syria's new government delivers on its commitments, a nation long written off as a failed state could become a regional success story. The vision is compelling: visitors from around the world paying tribute to the cradle of civilization, enjoying Syria's majestic nature and history in safety and security. It's not impossible. It will take careful diplomacy, strong leadership — including from Gulf Arab partners and allies — and the courage to engage with complicated actors. Perhaps Syria may even move from being the last country anyone would expect to enter into the Abraham Accords, to being among the next group.

Congressman says Space Command weeks away from moving to Alabama
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) — Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-AL) says it could only be a matter of weeks before the decision to move the nation's Space Command headquarters to Huntsville's Redstone Arsenal becomes official. A report released by the Government Accountability Office stated the '…. Command's posture is not suitable long term…' in Colorado, among other findings. But Colorado lawmakers have vowed to fight moving the Space Command HQ to Alabama. Congressman Aderholt said that President Donald Trump has announced plans for Golden Dome — an effort to defend the U.S. against missiles. He said the President can't move forward with that project fully until a decision is made on Space Command. 'Without Space Command, President Trump really can't move forward in a meaningful way with Golden Dome,' said Aderholt. 'So, getting this to Huntsville, getting this set up, I think it is imperative for the President's mission with Golden Dome to move forward.' Completed Northern Beltline expected to increase business, save lives in Jefferson County Congressman Aderholt said he and his colleagues are in constant contact with the White House about Space Command. 'We feel like that the President made that commitment to move Space Command from Colorado, and it wasn't a political decision,' he said. 'It was a decision based on the facts.' State Rep. Andy Whitt (R-Harvest) said the move adds to the state's footprint on defense. 'Huntsville is known for its legacy in space exploration, its rockets, and the aerospace industry,' Whitt said. 'But, with our current innovation with the defense industry here in Huntsville, it's just a natural fit.' Whitt explained Huntsville is well prepared for the move, and its impact will be far reaching on the state overall. 'We have over four hundred defense contractors in our city here ready to go to work for the U.S., and our safety,' he said. 'So, we're very excited about it. US Africa commander highlights terror growth in Sahel and competition with China for influence
A top United States military general warned Thursday that terror groups in Africa are ramping up their ability to conduct attacks in the U.S. Gen. Michael Langley, the four-star Marine General who leads U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), said the Sahel region of the continent is now the "flashpoint of prolonged conflict and growing instability. It is the epicenter of terrorism on the globe." Several terror groups have expanded drastically in the last three years. Al-Qaeda in the Lands of the Islamic Maghreb, or AQIM, is three times the size it was in 2022, he said, and has spread across Mali, Burkina Faso, and parts of Niger, which the U.S. military pulled out of last year. The East African country has been wracked for decades by attacks and insurgency from Islamist terrorists, both from ISIS and al-Shabab. The U.S. is in a race with China and Russia to gain influence and trust with the local governments of several African nations to help protect citizens from terror groups. Langley said there is an increasing concern about the number of African soldiers going to Beijing for military training and replicating a U.S. International Military Education and Training (IMET) program. "They're trying to replicate what we do best in our IMET program," said Langley. "And then they also said they're going to increase security and training in a number of countries.
