Ian Eagle's final call of Houston's unbelievable Final Four victory over Duke captured all the madness
You've gotta hand it to Houston and wonder what on earth led to Duke's collapse in the second Final Four matchup in the men's NCAA tournament Saturday night.
In a Final Four with all No. 1 seeds, Duke was in control for most of the game and was up by nine points with about three minutes left in the second half. But the Cougars went on an 11-1 run over the last 74 seconds — thanks to some incredible defense, along with strong shooting when it mattered most — and took down the Blue Devils, 70-67.
MEN'S FINAL FOUR: Bill Raftery broke out his most iconic call for Alijah Martin's epic Final Four dunk
The game gave college basketball fans some thrilling final minutes as Houston's comeback became a reality, and CBS' crew delivered an awesome call of the moment. "The dream remains alive for the Houston Cougars!"
Just unbelievable.
Houston will take on fellow No. 1 seed Florida in Monday's national championship game.

Warriors work out champion who shot 41.3 percent from 3-point land

The post Warriors work out champion who shot 41.3 percent from 3-point land appeared first on ClutchPoints. With the NBA Draft a little less than a month away, NBA teams have been conducting workouts for prospective draft prospects. With the draft combine having been completed last month, individual and group workouts will be the norm until the draft arrives. The Golden State Warriors recently conducted a workout ahead of the NBA Draft with former Houston guard LJ Cryer, as per Chris Baldwin of PaperCity Magazine. Advertisement LJ Cryer has done pre-draft workouts with six NBA teams so far, including the Warriors, and he's hoping to shed some of the misconceptions about him. 'You kind of hear some teams might think you're too small,' Cryer said. 'I'm not a traditional point guard. But some teams like the way I shoot the ball and how competitive I am. I'm just taking it all in and just trying to get my foot in the door.' Cryer spent the last two seasons of his college basketball career at Houston after playing the first three seasons at Baylor. He was a strong three-point shooter in college, something that might interest the Warriors. During his final season at Houston, he shot 42.4 percent from three-point range. He shot 42 percent or better in three of his five college seasons with a career average of 41.3 percent. The Warriors currently have only one pick in the 2025 NBA Draft at No. 41 in the second round. Most current mock drafts have Cryer going undrafted. It's possible that the Warriors could select him at No. 41 if he impressed enough during their workouts. Or if he does go undrafted, he could catch on with an NBA team as an undrafted free agent and possibly on a two-way contract. Advertisement Last season, the Warriors also did not have a first-round pick. They used their second-round pick at No. 52 on Quinten Post. Post became a regular in the rotation and had his two-way contract converted to a standard deal before the NBA Playoffs. Pirates fall to Astros with 8-2 loss following lengthy rain delay

Framber Valdez pitched seven strong innings, Isaac Paredes homered twice, and the Houston Astros beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-2 after a lengthy rain delay on Thursday night. Valdez (6-4) won his fifth straight decision by limiting the Pirates to two runs on five hits with three walks and a season-high 11 strikeouts after waiting out the delay that pushed the start of the game back 3 hours and 22 minutes. The left-hander is now 5-0 with a 1.72 ERA in his last six starts. Paredes hit his 13th homer of the season leading off the fourth against Mitch Keller (1-8). His 14th, a two-run shot in the ninth, put the game away. Jeremy Peña added three hits and drove in a run for the Astros. The shortstop is batting .361 since moving to the leadoff spot on April 27. Jake Melton, who made his major league debut last weekend against Tampa Bay, had two hits, including a two-run single against Keller in the fourth. Keller had been pitching well despite receiving the lowest run support in the majors. The right-hander wasn't quite as crisp against the Astros, giving up six runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings as his ERA crept up to 4.19. Jared Triolo had two hits and scored twice for the Pirates, who have dropped four of six. The Pirates were down two and had runners on the corners with two outs in the fifth when Valdez fanned Andrew McCutchen on a curveball. 9 — the number of runs Pittsburgh has scored in Keller's last starts. Astros: head to Cleveland for a three-game weekend series starting Friday when Colton Gordon (0-1, 5.95 ERA) faces Cleveland's Logan Allen (3-3, 4.22). Pirates: welcome Philadelphia for a three-game set beginning Friday. Bailey Falter, who posted a 0.76 ERA across six starts in May, starts the opener for Pittsburgh. ___ AP MLB:

Chris Paul gives massive praise to projected No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg

Chris Paul gives massive praise to projected No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg Cooper Flagg is the overwhelming favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA draft and has impressed many observers in recent memory, including future Hall of Famer Chris Paul. Flagg led Duke to the Final Four, averaging 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocks on 38.5% shooting from 3-point range. He became the 22nd player in program history to be named a consensus first-team All-American. The 18-year-old is busy training during the predraft process and has spent some time in Los Angeles, California. Paul has joined him in the gym on a couple of occasions and can see why he is the clear choice to be the top pick on June 25. "I'm just like everybody else: I'm a fan," Paul said on the "Pat McAfee Show" on Thursday. "I was at home in L.A., and I was watching the ping-pong balls like everybody, and when I saw the Spurs pop into the top four, we were going crazy. Guys on my team (in the) group chat, we were like, 'What is about to happen?' I'm in L.A. right now, and Cooper Flagg has been out there. I've been in the gym with him a couple of times, or whatnot. He is as real as advertised." Flagg entered last season with tremendous expectations as the consensus top recruit in the class of 2024. He was highly touted as the likely top pick in the draft and lived up to the hype after becoming the face of the sport this past season. The 6-foot-8 forward has drawn comparisons to former Duke legend and Hall of Famer Grant Hill because of his size, athleticism and ability to affect games in various ways. Former coach Mike Krzyzewski even called him the best freshman to ever play with the Blue Devils. After trading away cornerstone Luka Dončić, the Mavericks hope Flagg can step in and be their long-term solution. Should Flagg indeed hear his name called first, the ACC Freshman of the Year will become the sixth Blue Devil to be selected as the top pick.
