Gout Gout stuns the world to win international 200m debut in new Australian record time
Gout Gout has stitched together another Australian record to win his first senior international race on foreign soil.
The 17-year-old, returning to competition for the first time since April, stunned the Golden Spike Meet in Ostrava, Czech Republic on Tuesday local time (Wednesday AEST).
Gout crossed the line in 20.02 seconds to defeat recent Diamond League winner Reynier Mena.
'I've felt stronger in training these last couple of months and I've felt good since I got to Europe last Thursday,' Gout said.
'I knew Mena would come hard at me the first 100 but I was confident I'd be close enough to come home strongly in the second part of the race which is of course my stronger part.
'I felt calm but strong as I came off the turn and was confident I'd be strong enough to get the win. Another national record! Pretty happy with that, it's not a bad first-up in Europe!'
The run lowered his own Australian record of 20.04 set in December, and he wasn't the only Aussie to star at the event.
Middle-distance star Cameron Myers finished forth in the 1500m to smash his own national under-20 record by nearly three seconds.
He crossed in 3:29.80 to fall less than half a second shy of Oli Hoare's Australian senior record.

Former NBA All-Star guard Irving is still recovering from a torn ACL that will sideline him into the 2025-26 season.
