SHMMP: 1,478 premises inspected in conjunction with Kaamatan, Gawai Dayak festivals
PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) inspected a total of 1,478 business premises nationwide during the Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP) in conjunction with the Kaamatan Festival and Gawai Day 2025.
The SHMMP Kaamatan Festival was held from May 27 to June 2, while the SHMMP Gawai Day took place from May 29 to June 4.
KPDN enforcement director-general Datuk Azman Adam said that throughout the implementation of the SHMMP Kaamatan Festival, a total of 667 inspections were conducted, with two legal actions taken against non-compliant traders.
'The legal action taken involves cases of failing to use the special pink price tags,' he said in a statement today.
The implementation of the SHMMP Gawai Dayak involved 811 inspections, with nine legal actions taken against non-compliant traders, resulting in seizures worth RM1,647.40.
Azman said that KPDN did not receive any complaints during the implementation of the SHMMP for both festivals, and the majority of the traders inspected were committed and complied with the maximum price regulations in force throughout the implementation of the scheme.
A total of 10 items are covered under the SHMMP Kaamatan Festival, including large imported yellow onions and large imported red onions, while the SHMMP Gawai Day involved 11 types of items, including live old chickens, chicken wings, and imported round cabbage from Indonesia and China, except Beijing cabbage

The prime minister had also placed a Jalur Gemilang flag on the five-metre Bryks replica model on exhibit at the LUNAS booth as a symbolic gesture of the MADANI Government's support of the littoral combat ship (LCS) programme. LUNAS is fully owned by Finance Ministry (Incorporated) and is spreading its wings to other sectors, including construction and repair of commercial ships, heavy engineering and ship recycling.

HAWANA 2025 Set for Launch with PM Anwar at WTCKL
KUALA LUMPUR: Preparations for the National Journalists' Day (HAWANA) 2025 main event at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) are progressing smoothly, with final touches underway to ensure a seamless programme tomorrow. Communications Ministry deputy secretary-general (Telecommunication Infrastructure) Mano Verabathran said preparations began early this morning and were also monitored by representatives from the Prime Minister's Office. He said the main event, which will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, is expected to draw around 1,000 guests comprising local and international media practitioners as well as representatives from various agencies. 'Based on today's rehearsal, I would say 90 per cent is already in place. There are only minor points for improvement, which we have conveyed to the organising team,' he said when met at the full rehearsal at WTCKL here today. Also present was Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, who is also HAWANA 2025 project director. Mano expressed hope that the cooperation between Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), Bernama and other media agencies in organising HAWANA will continue in future editions. At tomorrow's main event, the Prime Minister will present the HAWANA 2025 Special Award and the HAWANA 2025 Award, as well as contributions under the Kasih@HAWANA Fund to three media practitioners. He will also present prizes to the winners of the HAWANA-DBP 2025 Pantun Festival, which was held on May 31.
