Two women shot at and beaten by intruder in terrifying 'targeted attack'
Two women have been rushed to hospital following a reported "targeted attack" at a property in Almond Avenue, in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, leading to a police manhunt.
Police have launched a manhunt after two women were shot at by an intruder in a terrifying attack.
Cops in South Yorkshire rushed to Almond Avenue, in Doncaster, shortly after reports of gunshots at about 11.30pm on Easter Sunday.
Police said a man climbed through the window of the property, assaulted two women with "a wooden object" before fleeing the scene.
Officers later found the two women also had evidence "consistent with a firearms discharge." The women were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
SYP said they were treating the shooting as "a targeted attack" and that an investigation had been launched in Almond Avenue as officers carried out further enquiries. Police said on Monday, April 21, officers would carry out additional patrols in the surrounding area into the next few days.
Detective Chief Inspector Ronayne later said: "We will not tolerate gun crime here in South Yorkshire and we are working hard to piece together the circumstances of this incident and bring the person responsible to justice. In this instance, a firearm was discharged late at night in a residential area of Doncaster and it is this kind of mindless violence and criminality which puts innocent people in danger.
"We understand news of this firearms discharge will have caused considerable concern in the local community and that is why our officers remain at the scene today conducting further enquiries and carrying out house-to-house visits. I want to thank local residents for their ongoing cooperation, and I would urge anyone with information that could help our investigation to please come forward.
"The information you provide is vital and could be the missing piece of the jigsaw that allows us to identify the person responsible for this crime.
"We will act on every single piece of information we receive and we are keen to hear from anyone in the local area, particularly those with relevant CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage in the moments prior to or shortly after the incident.

It comes as a man was arrested and charged after a firearm was recovered in Lanarkshire. Police stopped a vehicle on Rosehall Road in Bellshill on April 10 and a firearm and ammunition were recovered.
A 40-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection. He was due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court earlier this month.
Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged after a firearm was recovered in Lanarkshire.
"On Thursday, April 10, 2025, road policing officers stopped a vehicle on Rosehall Road, Bellshill and a firearm and ammunition were recovered. A 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection. He is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday, April 11, 2025."

In 2016, he was targeted in the slashing in Edinburgh city centre while about to return to prison after home leave. Two hitmen set upon him with blades – witnessed by a Daily Record reporter and photographer – before fleeing in a Skoda. One of Richardson's chief lieutenants was later jailed for six years for his role in the ambush. McGovern spent nine days on the run after fleeing from an open jail almost two years ago. A description issued by police included details of the scar left on his face after the 2016 attack. He was caged for 16 years in 2009 after admitting heroin dealing and a gun attack on an Edinburgh pub. After early release in 2018, he was ordered to do 80 hours of unpaid work for spitting on a prison guard. He was then hauled back to jail after smashing up his phone as police looked on. Richardson, 38, is at the centre of an ongoing gangland feud with Dubai-based Mr Big, Ross McGill. It has led to multiple firebombings and violent attacks in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Solicitor Paul Smith, defending, told the court his client suffers from 'a variety of health issues' and continues to maintain his innocence. Sheriff Sharp jailed Shaw for 15 months and placed him on the sex offenders register for 10 years. He was also handed a non-harassment order banning him from having any contact with one his victims for five years. The trial heard evidence from two victims, now in their 60s, who said Shaw had abused them while they were under his care at the children's home from 1977-81. One woman said she was sexually assaulted by Shaw as she folded clothes in the home's laundry room. She said the manager had groped her breasts. The second victim told the jury she was assaulted by Shaw in a pool when he swam between her legs and had intentionally touched her private parts. The women both said they had made numerous complaints about Shaw's behaviour towards them but their concerns were 'brushed under the carpet' by the home's management. A third woman told the jury she worked alongside Shaw at the care home and the pair had taken some of the children on a trip to Gairloch in Wester Ross. She said she was sharing a room with two girls and a drunk Shaw stumbled in and, after climbing into her bed, groped her breasts. Shaw was arrested after a victim came forward two years ago and reported what had happened to her to police.
