Alleged Liverpool parade crash driver appears in court
Paul Doyle, 53, appeared at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Friday morning charged with seven offences following the incident on Water Street in the city centre on Monday, which resulted in 79 people suffering injuries.
The father-of-three, of Croxteth, Liverpool, was remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday afternoon.

Doyle, wearing a black suit, white shirt and grey tie, looked emotional as he was brought in from the cells and looked around at the dozens of reporters packing the courtroom, his face crumpling slightly as he held back tears.
District Judge Paul Healey asked the defendant to identify himself and in a croaky voice, Doyle confirmed his name and gave his date of birth and address in Liverpool.
At one point, Doyle shook his head as Philip Astbury, prosecuting, was speaking.
He is accused of two counts of wounding with intent, two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, two counts of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of dangerous driving.
The charges relate to six victims, including two children.
Reporting restrictions preventing the victims from being identified were made by the judge.

Doyle made no indications of pleas after the charges were read to the court.
He stood with his hands clasped and nodded as he was remanded in custody.
On Thursday, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said the charges against Doyle, who is reportedly an ex-Royal Marine, would be kept 'under review as the investigation progresses'.
Chief crown prosecutor for CPS Mersey-Cheshire, Sarah Hammond, said: 'The investigation is at an early stage. Prosecutors and police are continuing to work at pace to review a huge volume of evidence.
'This includes multiple pieces of video footage and numerous witness statements.
'It is important to ensure every victim gets the justice they deserve.'
The ages of those injured ranges from nine to 78 and seven people remained in hospital on Thursday, police said.
Police previously said they believed the car that struck pedestrians was able to follow an ambulance crew attending to someone suffering a heart attack after a road block during Liverpool FC's celebrations was temporarily lifted.

Schoolgirl, 13, killed after javelin went through her eye in PE lesson pictured
A schoolgirl who died when a classmate threw a javelin towards her has been pictured for the first time. 13-year-old Anastasia Ryzhenko was struck in the eye with a javelin, sending her into a coma from which she never woke up. During a gym class, coach Vladimir Miroshnichenko had paired Anastasia with 16-year-old Timur in Prokhladny, Russia. The coach had 'turned away' when the javelin was thrown, but Timur warned Anastasia when it was too late. Anastasia's mum, Elena, said: 'At that very moment, he threw it, then he called out to her. She raised her head, and the spear hit her in the eye.' Her eye socket was stabbed with the javelin, and her jaw also broke, sparking internal bleeding into her lungs, her mum said. An investigation has been launched by the Russian Investigative Committee. Tributes have been shared online for young Anastasia, who would have celebrated her 14th birthday today. Mum Elena shared gratitude for the first responders and doctors who tried to save Anastasia. More Trending But she added: 'The boy's mother does not admit her son's guilt at all,' said Elena. During all this time, she never came. And the coach didn't come, only on the day of the funeral. 'As a mother, I would have crawled on my knees pleading: 'Forgive me, excuse me, maybe I can help, let me at least take you there?' The Russian Investigative Committee said in a statement: 'The investigation has studied all the circumstances of the incident, interrogated eyewitnesses, employees of the sports school and the relevant ministry, seized documentation regulating the procedure for conducting field training sessions and ensuring safety, and other measures are being taken to collect evidence. At least 13 newborns trafficked abroad to 'infertile' parents for £510,000
Eight doctors have been arrested for orchestrating a black-market baby ring in Russia, in a case disturbingly reminiscent of The Handmaid's Tale. As many as 13 newborns were sold to foreign couples – but the true scale is alleged to be much higher. The medics – including three chief physicians – fabricated medical records to claim the 'buyers' were infertile, then used reproductive technologies to grow embryos, oversee births, and ultimately send the children abroad. They are believed to have earned £510,000 from the sinister baby-selling scam, according to the state prosecutors in the far-east Primorsky region. The scandal centres on multiple private clinics in the city of Vladivostok, and it involved six women and two men – doctors, chief physicians, and the owner of a chain of private clinics. A statement from Russian authorities said: 'The group of doctors illegally issued medical documentation containing knowingly false information about the infertility of buyers and genetic parents. More Trending 'Using assisted reproductive technologies under the guise of infertility treatment, the defendants carried out actions to cultivate embryos and arrange the subsequent birth of children for the purpose of their sale and movement abroad.' The illegal sales happened between 2018 and 2020 but have only come to light now. It is as yet unclear if Russia will seek to repatriate the illegally sold children – now aged between around five and seven. The defendants in the case have not been named. They face up to 15 years in jail for alleged child trafficking, according to prosecutors. Get in touch with our news team by emailing us at webnews@ For more stories like this, check our news page. Moment motorbike-riding yobs swarm man on quiet London street in broad daylight… but it's not all as it seems
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THIS is the moment a gang of motorbike-riding yobs swarmed a man in central London in broad daylight - but all was not as it seemed. The dramatic incident on Adam Street near Waterloo Bridge on Thursday saw the target eventually flee in a Range Rover as passersby stood open-mouthed. 9 The motorbike thugs surrounded a man as he left the Adelphi building Credit: Supplied 9 He then makes a getaway in a waiting Range Rover Credit: Supplied 9 His driver can be seen thumping one rider with a bat Credit: Supplied However, the 'victim' was actually actor Theo James - and his getaway driver ex-football hardman Vinnie Jones, on set of the second series of The Gentlemen. The footage, shared with The Sun, was filmed from an office building across the street by a big fan of the Guy Ritchie-produced Netflix series. She told us: 'I was visiting my friend in his office - it was about half nine or 10. There were a couple sections of the street barricaded off and suddenly a film crew appeared. 'There were a couple of us watching at the window and I started filming. 'I recognised it was Theo James straight away. I was like 'this is exciting - oh my God!'' In the footage, the director can be heard shouting 'action' before James, 40 - who plays lead character Eddie Halstead - emerges from the Adelphi building with three other actors. Suddenly, half a dozen thugs on motorbikes arrive from both directions as James dashes towards a waiting Range Rover and driver Vinnie Jones, who plays Geoff Seacombe. The ex-Leeds United, Chelsea and Wimbledon midfielder, 60, then attacks one rider with a bat, before the car speeds off around the corner. Further footage shows the crew focusing in on Jones thumping the thug with the bat, causing him to fall backwards off the bike. Brit acting legend admits he wants to play James Bond saying 'the world's gone crazy' if Amazon casts a US star for 007 And more video shot from the ground sees one of the riders doing a wheelie in front of James. The witness, 26 - who did not wish to be named - went on to tell The Sun: 'It was all very quick, but it was cool to watch. 'You could hear some bangs and motorbikes revving - and it grabbed everyone's attention. 'My friend's seen a few things being filmed before around there. He said 'they're definitely filming something', then I saw the mic at the side of the road, then I saw Theo James.' She added: 'I watched the first season and loved it - I love Theo James and Vinnie Jones, they're really funny. 9 Theo James stars in Netflix gangster series The Gentlemen Credit: AP 9 James and co-star Vinnie Jones (right) on the show Credit: Christopher Rafael/Netflix 9 Jones was previously a professional footballer before becoming a Hollywood actor Credit: Getty 'I read that Maya Jama's gonna be in the new series too, which should be good.' The Gentlemen is a spin-off of the Ritchie-directed 2019 film of the same name, which starred Charlie Hunnam, Matthew McConaughey, Hugh Grant and Colin Farrell. The TV show, which also features Skins and Pirates of the Caribbean actress Kaya Scodelario, follows James' Eddie after he inherits his family's estate only to discover that it's home to an enormous weed empire, dragging him into the criminal underworld. James - who also appeared in The Inbetweeners Movie - is currently among those leading the race to become the next James Bond. According to Coral, fellow Brit Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 34, is top of the betting, however, James this month overtook former favourite Henry Cavill, 42, to take second place. 9 James, who returns for season two, is among the stars being tipped to play James Bond Credit: AP 9 Jones with Joely Richardson during season one Credit: Netflix
