Jordan McGhee's Dundee departure confirmed as long-serving star says 'all good things must end'
Jordan McGhee says 'all good things must come to an end' after he said his goodbyes to Dundee FC.
The 28-year-old spent six years at Dens Park and played under four managers, winning promotion twice.
The former Hearts and Falkirk defender played 197 times for the Dark Blues, scoring 21 goals.
McGhee was Dundee's Players' Player of the Year in his debut season for the club and this term won the Goal of the Season award for a fine strike at Dundee United.
He played a key role in the 2020/21 promotion through the play-offs after being transformed into an effective box-to-box midfielder, scoring three goals across the semi-final and final.
And in the past two Premiership seasons he has notched 10 goals for Dundee, including a double in the 4-2 win at Tannadice in March.
The versatile defender is expected to join Motherwell this summer.
'All good things must come to an end,' McGhee said.
'I feel the time has come to move on and face a fresh challenge in my career.
'It's been a rollercoaster since I joined almost six years ago and what a journey it's been together.
'Thank you to all my teammates over the years, managers, the amazing staff behind the scenes and the fans for your continued support through the highs and lows.
'We've shared some amazing memories together. Ones that I'll never forget.'

Scottish Premiership side Dundee make Healy approach
Dundee want to speak to Linfield boss David Healy about their managerial vacancy at Dens Park. Last month the Dark Blues sacked Tony Docherty one day after securing their Scottish Premiership status for next season in the final game of the campaign. Healy, who is the Northern Ireland men's team's record goalscorer, has been in charge of Linfield since 2015 with a club spokesperson confirming to BBC Sport NI that the terms of the 45-year-old's contract allow him to discuss the move. This season's Irish Premiership title was Healy's sixth at the Windsor Park helm with the Blues finishing 22 points ahead of Larne. He has also won two Irish Cups, three BetMcLean Cups and one County Antrim Shield during his time in charge of the Blues. In August, the former Manchester United and Rangers striker turned down the opportunity to take over at Scottish Championship side Raith Rovers and said he was "content" at Linfield. Former Celtic midfielder Shaun Maloney, as well as former Dundee players Charlie Adam and Temuri Ketsbaia, have also been linked to the role.

Airdrie announce exit of 'consistently reliable' defender
Craig Watson has parted ways with the Diamonds after a four-year spell Airdrie have announced Craig Watson has left the club after four years with the Monklands men. The Diamonds defender helped the club to Championship survival this past season and was also part of the League One promotion-winning squad in 2023. A former Hamilton Accies and East Fife player, the 30-year-old is now on the lookout for a new club. A club statement read: "After four years and over 150 appearances for the Diamonds, Craig Watson is moving on with our thanks and best wishes. "Defender Craig joined from East Fife in May of 2021, having caught the eye of then boss Ian Murray with a number of solid displays against his side. "Featuring regularly over four seasons in central defence and the right full-back role, the athletic former Hamilton man impressed the Airdrie faithful with his no-nonsense defending and ability on the ball. "'Janny' also showed an eye for goal, finding the net 11 times over his 153 appearances – with a couple of Goal of the Season contenders in the shape of outstanding strikes against Montrose and Alloa Athletic. "As a model professional, a positive influence in the dressing room, and a consistently reliable squad member during a successful period for the club, we wish Craig the very best of luck with whatever comes next in his football career. He will always be welcomed with open arms at the club he served with such distinction. All the best, Janny!"
