Chicago tech executive found 'pulverized' after 20-storey fall, cause of death 'undetermined'
A 36-year-old Chicago-based tech executive died from multiple injuries after falling from 20 stories down a stairwell at the luxury high-rise building, a medical examiner ruled, but said the cause of her death was 'undetermined'.
Caitlin Tracey's family alleged that her body was found "pulverised' and missing a foot in a stairwell of the luxury condo building where she lived with her husband, according to a report by Fox 32.
Even after her gruesome demise last year, the medical examiner has left the cause of death as 'undetermined,' and no charges have been filed.
Tracey's husband, 46-year-old Adam Beckerink, is a Chicago tax attorney who has previously been charged with battering her in January and August 2024, according to FOX 32. Beckerink was fired from his law firm after the domestic abuse allegations surfaced.
It was Beckerink who filed a missing persons report for Tracey before her body was found on 27 October. Chicago police questioned him, but he was later released without charges.
However, her family is pushing to keep attention on the case after being stuck in a legal battle with her husband over the handling of her remains. Beckerink had claimed he had the rights to her body, but the parents eventually won custody.
Before her six-month marriage to Beckerink, police were called to the couple's Michigan house in January 2024, when they found Tracey with cuts on her lips and red marks.
She accused Beckerink of assault and stealing some of her items. He allegedly instructed Tracey to tell police her 911 call was 'accidental.'
A year earlier, in November 2023, Tracey had secured a protective order against Beckerink in Chicago following several domestic battery reports, according to FOX 32.
However, court filings from her parents state that she dropped the case in December after Beckerink allegedly threatened to sue her for defamation.

Meghalaya to strengthen resident safety law in wake of Sohra honeymoon murder
Shillong, In the wake of the sensational honeymoon murder in Sohra, the Meghalaya government on Friday decided to strengthen an existing legislation aimed at ensuring the safety of state residents and curbing the entry of criminal elements posing as tourists. The move comes weeks after the gruesome murder of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, who was killed during a honeymoon trip to Sohra, in a plot orchestrated by his wife and her lover. "The cabinet today decided to revisit the Meghalaya Resident Safety and Security Act , 2016, an existing state legislation, to add more teeth to this Act to minimise the possibility of criminal elements entering Meghalaya in the guise of tourists," Cabinet spokesperson Paul Lyngdoh said after the cabinet meeting here. "The government will soon come up with a formal proposal to further strengthen the MRSSA," he said. The 2016 Act was originally introduced to enhance the security of Meghalaya residents through the vetting of tenants and tourists. It allows for identity verification through a tourism-specific app and has provisions similar to those under the Inner Line Permit system, which the state has long been seeking from the Centre. According to Lyngdoh, the Assembly had adopted a resolution demanding implementation of the Inner Line Permit in Meghalaya. "The matter is pending before the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. There were several queries from the Ministry which the state government had addressed," he said, adding that the Union Ministry had expressed concern since Meghalaya is a transit state to other parts of the North East. The Cabinet minister also informed that the MRSSA is already a very effective legislation, which will need a little bit of "upscale" as of now. The urgency to revisit the Act was triggered by the case involving Sonam, the wife of murdered businessman Raja. She had allegedly conspired to kill her husband along with her lover and his friends, and entered Meghalaya under the guise of a tourist. According to Lyngdoh, the Cabinet placed on record its gratitude to the entire police department for cracking this case in record time and arresting all the accused, saving the state from a "bad name".

Roger and Rachna Christian, visiting Ahmedabad from London, killed in Air India plane crash
Ahmedabad: A UK-based Gujarati couple, Roger David Christian and his wife, Rachna Roger Christian, were among those killed in the Air India plane crash. The couple, hailing from Ahmedabad, had been residing in London for the past five years. According to family sources, Roger was the son of David Christian, a retired officer from the state's Irrigation Department. Before settling in the UK, Roger had spent five years in New Zealand. He married Rachna in 2013, and the two were said to be leading a happy life abroad until the tragedy struck. Relatives shared that the couple had recently flown to Ahmedabad to care for Roger's mother, who had undergone hip replacement surgery. "They came to be by her side and help her recover. It was meant to be a short trip home, one of care, love, and duty," a grieving family member said. "Now they are gone forever," the family member said. The ill-fated flight crashed into the BJMC Boys' Hostel in Meghaninagar shortly after takeoff, bursting into flames and killing almost everyone on board. Investigations are ongoing into the cause of the crash. The family is currently awaiting confirmation through DNA testing to recover the couple's remains. Civil Hospital authorities have been collecting DNA samples from relatives, and the bodies will be released once matches are confirmed. As of now, five bodies have been identified and respectfully handed over to their families. These include two victims from Rajasthan, two from Bhavnagar, and one from Madhya Pradesh. Civil Hospital officials confirmed that DNA samples have been collected from 192 families so far. To support the identification process, a large team of 70 to 80 doctors, from Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Anand, and Nadiad, has been working around the clock, conducting post-mortem examinations since Thursday evening.
