Two Irishmen arrested and charged over attempted murder in UK

Two Irishmen have been arrested and charged with attempted murder in the UK.
Michael Galbraith (26) and 23-year-old Thomas Galbraith, both of Woodside Park in Ryton-on-Dunsmore, were arrested on Tuesday, June 3, and charged on the same day.
They appeared before Coventry Magistrates Court yesterday and have been remanded in custody.
They will next appear at Warwick Crown Court on June 20.

Two other men, James Galbraith and Anthony Galbraith, are to appear before at the same court on the same day.

James Galbraith (28) from Limerick has already been charged with attempted murder in connection to the same incident, although Warwickshire Police has not released any details.
Anthony Galbraith (20) of Woodside Park was also charged with attempted murder and remanded in custody.
Investigating police had earlier released mug shots of Michael Galbraith and 23-year-old Thomas Galbraith after it was believed they had fled the area.
Police had urged anyone who had seen them to 'call 999 straight away'.
"Both have links with Warwickshire, West Midlands, Kent, Bedfordshire and the south of the Republic of Ireland," a Warwickshire Police spokesperson said previously.
On May 22, more than 100 officers from across the country took part in a major raid on a halting site in Woodside Park, near Ryton on Dunsmore, in a 'significant pre-planned operation'.
As well as James Galbraith, police also arrested a 30-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of theft as part of an investigation into shop thefts totalling around £25,000 of stolen goods.
A 39-year-old man was also taken into custody on suspicion of theft after suspected stolen goods were found in a caravan.
In addition, a 44-year-old man was arrested for failing to appear in court for drug driving offences and a 52-year-old man for failing to appear in court for a case of grievous bodily harm.
The seventh arrest was that of a 34-year-old man on suspicion of immigration offences.
Several vehicles suspected to have been stolen, used in crime or having false documents have also been seized. Police say that four people, who they believe to be victims of criminal exploitation, have been 'safeguarded' and are being supported by specialist officers.
Chief Superintendent Jon Belcher told Coventry Live: "This was a coordinated, multi-agency operation using specialist national resources.
"This came about because of ongoing concerns raised by our communities, and we want to send a clear message: We will not tolerate criminality. We will work with our partners to use every power and tactic available to pursue and disrupt offenders.
"We will work to protect and support law-abiding residents, both on the site and elsewhere, as we continue to pursue those who are involved in criminal behaviour.'
"We again apologise for the impact this had on our patients and visitors.

A BOY, 12, lost his balance after slipping in a puddle close to the edge of the Cliffs of Moher before falling over the edge to his death, an inquest has heard. In eye-witness testimony at the Zhihan had set out on walking the Cliffs of Moher trail from Hag's Head on the Liscannor side or southern side of the Cliffs of Moher to the Cliffs of Moher visitor centre with his mother, Xianhong Huang and her friends. She said that she last saw Zhihan at 1pm that day. She said that Zhihan was a fluent English speaker and described the clothes that Zhihan was wearing that day including black shorts, Nike Air Jordans, an LA Lakers wristband and a kid's smart-watch. Sgt Claire McGuigan said that on the day, Ms Huang was able to provide a photo of Zhihan she had taken taken earlier on the Cliffs of Moher trail. He said that the Irish Coastguard had spotted a body floating in the water at the base of the Cliffs of Moher. Through the interpreter, the mother asked was the location the same spot where scenes from a Harry Potter movie were shot and Insp Costello said that they were not. Garda Collins said that a Zhihan's body would not be recovered from the sea for another five days and was recovered after fisherman, Matthew O'Halloran from Corofin, Co Clare spotted a body in the water between Doolin and the Aran Islands shortly after 10am on Sunday, July 28. 'INSTANTANEOUS' DEATH Mr O'Halloran alerted the Irish coastguard at Valentia and members of the Doolin unit of the Irish coastguard retrieved Zhihan's body from the waters and brought it ashore at Doolin. Ms O'Dea said that the post mortem found that Zhihan died from multiple traumatic injuries consistent with a fall from a height. Ms O'Dea said her verdict was one of 'accidental death'. She said: 'It is clear from evidence we heard that Zhihan slipped off the Cliffs rather than any other way. His death would have been very quick - instantaneous." ‘I'm glad he's not on the streets', says victim as convicted rapist who threatened 3 female journalists is jailed
A CONVICTED rapist who threatened and harassed three female journalists has been jailed for 11 years. Mark McAnaw, 53, refused to enter a bond before a sitting of Advertisement After Judge Pauline Codd had outlined the conditions attached to the suspended portion of the sentence, McAnaw's counsel Rebecca Smith BL said her client did not wish to enter the bond as he found the conditions 'onerous'. As a result, the judge imposed the full 11-year sentence. She added: "I came here today expecting two years, worried that maybe he'd be out on the streets again today, but I'm relieved now at least we won't have to think about it now for at least five years. Advertisement "I think the judge saw what a danger he is to Irish women and applied an appropriate sentence. I'm really grateful to the guards, I think they did a great job securing this conviction. I would ask the question why someone like this is free to harass women in the first place, but hopefully it's something we don't have to think about for a long time." Ms Reynolds continued: "I don't think that's really acceptable that I have to go to work and think about somebody sitting at home, fantasising about what they are going to do to me, or put a bullet in my head like this man threatened. "It's strange to see yourself described as a victim and I'm conscious today that this man has victims out there that went through the most horrific crimes you could commit against women.
