Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise were supposed to star in a version of Ford v Ferrari with director Joseph Kosinski attached to direct.
"Pitt and Cruise insisted on driving for real, and their director wanted it that way too. But, Kosinski says, the studio wouldn't meet the budget he proposed," GQ revealed in Pitt's interview in May. James Mangold ended up directing Ford v Ferrari with Christian Bale and Matt Damon instead.
'Tom always pushes it to the limit, but at the same time is super capable and very skilled,' Kosinski said when asked by GQ about what would've happened had Cruise landed the star role in F1. 'They both have the natural talent for driving. But yeah, I could see Tom maybe scaring us a little bit more.'
Just a few years later, Cruise and Pitt were spotted together in a surprise appearance. During the F1 premiere in London, Cruise was a surprise guest 31 years after the iconic acting duo starred together in Neil Jordan's 1994 horror classic Interview With the Vampire.

The rare appearance for the two acting stars caught fans by surprise.
"Kind of crazy they're a couple of the biggest stars in Hollywood and they've only done Interview With the Vampire together … and that was over 30 years ago," one person said.
"Absolutely love it!And they both still are as handsome and🔥 as ever!!🤩," added another.
"They really must be Vampires, they have hardly aged 😍😂," joked a third.
Pitt recently revealed he'd love to act with Cruise again - but set up a few stipulations first.
'Well, I'm not gonna hang my ass off airplanes and s--- like that,' Pitt quipped about reuniting with Cruise on the big screen. 'So when he does something again that's on the ground, [then yes].'Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise Turn Heads in Rare Public Appearance first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 23, 2025

'Much-loved' opera will be performed by 30-strong cast

A much-loved comic opera is being performed by a Pembrokeshire community. Pembrokeshire's Rhosygilwen estate will host The Merry Widow on July 11 and 12. The opera will be performed by a 30-strong cast of professionally trained singers, all with local roots. Catrin Aur, trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and now residing in Ceredigion, will take the lead role, blending vocal talent with comedic charm. The production is directed by Llandysul-born Fleur Snow, trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Her direction adds a fresh perspective to Franz Lehár's operetta, with lyrics sung in English and interspersed with adapted Welsh lines. The production, supported by a 10-piece live orchestra, will take place in Neuadd y Dderwen (The Oak Hall). The venue is known for its acoustics and rustic charm. Audience members can also enjoy a picnic interval in Rhosygilwen's formal gardens. The Merry Widow promises an evening of laughter, romance, and music, set in the picturesque West Wales setting. For those interested in attending, tickets are available through the Rhosygilwen website.

Jessie J shares 'highs and lows' of breast cancer treatment

Jessie J has undergone breast cancer surgery. The 37-year-old pop star announced earlier this month that she'd been diagnosed with breast cancer, and Jessie has now taken to social media to reveal where she is in her treatment journey. Alongside a series of photos and videos taken in her hospital room - including some featuring her boyfriend Chanan and her two-year-old son, Sky - Jessie wrote on Instagram: "‼️Blood warning‼️This post is some of the honest lows and highs of the last 48 hours. I will always show the good and hard bits of any journey I go through. Grateful to my doctor / surgeon and all the nurses who cared for me and all my family / friends who came to visit. [hug emoji] I am home now, to rest and wait for my results [fingers crossed emoji] "Chanan is in a nurse outfit. No no, he isn't, but funny to imagine. "Still hugging everyone going through something tough right now. We all got this! [hugging, heart and battery emojis] (sic)" Jessie actually shared news of her cancer diagnosis via an Instagram post on June 3. The singer admitted at the time that she had been "going back and forth" over whether to share the news with the public. The Price Tag hitmaker said in a video message: "I want to share it with my fans and the people that care about me, and also I'm a sharer. I've always shared everything that I go through in my life. Before No Secrets came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. "I'm highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding on to the word early. I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period." Jessie admitted at the time that she was still trying to process the news herself. However, she ultimately felt it was important that she shared the news with her fans. She said: "I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories."

He has left us with exceptional songs and memories. He was my friend, my songwriting partner, an amazing and versatile guitarist who had the greatest sense of humour," Rodgers wrote in a statement. "Our last conversation a few days ago we shared a laugh but it won't be our last. There are many memories of Mick that will create laughter. Condolences to everyone who loved him especially his one true love, Susie. I will see you in heaven.' Kirke added, 'He was a dear friend, a wonderful songwriter, and an exceptional guitarist.
