CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Curwensville man was placed in the county jail over Easter weekend after a teen accused him of raping her over four years.
Eric Young, 42, was placed in the Clearfield County Jail following his arraignment Saturday, April 19 after Magisterial District Judge David Meholick denied his bail citing in court documents that he 'is an imminent threat to the minor victim.'
The 14-year-old girl arrived at the Curwensville Borough Police Station on Friday, April 18 to report Young for sexual assault. State police arrived at the station to speak with the girl about the alleged assaults.

When speaking to authorities, the teen claimed that Young had been raping her for the past four years. She described that Young allegedly touched her multiple times in intimate places.
According to the criminal complaint, the girl told troopers Young sexually assaulted her three to four times per month. She also described incidents in which Young would make her touch him inappropriately along with making her perform sexual acts on him or Young performing sexual acts on her.
In one incident, the girl claimed Young forced her into having sex with her after he allegedly threatened to 'kill himself if she didn't,' according to the affidavit. Troopers noted the girl said she and Young had sexual intercourse at least six times.
Young was also alleged to have given the teen his cell phone so she could take pictures of herself when she had no clothes on and he also had sent her pornographic pictures. The girl further claimed that Young told her not to tell anyone about what they did allegedly saying that he 'would get in trouble,' according to the complaint.
Later on April 18, troopers executed a search warrant on Young's Curwensville home regarding the sexual assault case. During the search, several items of drug paraphernalia and marijuana were found. State police said approximately three pounds of marijuana in a glass jar was found along with 15 glass smoking devices, two grinders with marijuana residue and two marijuana plants growing in a heated tent. According to court documents, Young did not possess a license or was authorized to grow marijuana.
When troopers questioned Young about the sexual assault allegations, he allegedly admitted the incidents occurred multiple times and admitted to having sex with the girl on two separate occasions.
Young was charged with six felony counts of rape, six felony counts of statutory sexual assault of a person 11 years or older, 24 felony counts of deviate sexual intercourse forcible compulsion and a slew of felony and misdemeanor charges. He's facing a total of 138 charges in this case.
Young was also charged in a separate drug case with one felony count and 17 misdemeanor counts involving drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Trio charged in S$800,000 gold bar scam linked to impersonation of Singapore govt official

SINGAPORE, June 6 — Three men have been charged in Singapore for allegedly laundering proceeds from a scam that involved impersonating a government official and conning a senior victim into handing over gold bars worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. The Straits Times reported that Ryan Ng Zee Hao, 24, Young Raven, 28, and Randolph Koh Yong Lee, 30, were charged today with assisting another individual to retain benefits from criminal conduct — a serious money laundering offence. According to police, between May 29 and June 3, Ng and Koh allegedly received valuables from Young, including 27 gold bars weighing 100g each, valued at around S$300,000 (RM986,000). They also reportedly handled other gold pieces worth about S$500,000 and S$21,000 in cash — all believed to be proceeds from a government official impersonation scam. One of the victims, a 68-year-old man, was tricked into believing he was under investigation by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. He was told to surrender the gold bars for 'investigations' and handed them over to a person later identified as Young. Ng and a 29-year-old woman allegedly assisted in collecting the items. The scam came to light when the victim filed a police report on June 3. Officers arrested Young, Ng, and the woman the next day. Further checks led to the arrest of Koh and another 29-year-old man at Woodlands Checkpoint as they were attempting to leave Singapore. Police also seized S$22,000 in cash and six mobile phones. Investigations are ongoing against the 29-year-old woman and the second man arrested at the checkpoint. If convicted of helping to retain benefits from criminal conduct, the accused could face up to 10 years in jail, a fine of up to S$500,000, or both.

NATO Ally Reveals Mass Act of Unexplained Sabotage

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. There were around 30 as yet unexplained sabotage attacks on telecommunications infrastructure in Sweden, mostly along the same major road, authorities in the country have revealed. Nothing is stolen in the attacks on masts, but cables are cut and fuses and other technical equipment destroyed, Sweden's national public broadcaster SVT Nyheter reported, citing investigators. Swedish investigators have not publicly identified a suspect so far. The attacks are part of a broader trend of sabotage against Swedish telecoms infrastructure, and come amid reports from NATO allies of a significant increase in Russian espionage. The attacks began over Easter weekend, but have not led to major disruptions. However, it "stands out and is more than usual," Roger Gustafsson, head of security at the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS), told SVT. Investigators are working on the theory that a single actor is behind the attacks, which mostly targeted infrastructure along the E22 in Sweden. The E22 is also known as the European Road, and is part of a road transport network that stretches for more than 3,300 miles, connecting the U.K. in the west to Russia in the east. Swedish security services are monitoring the investigation, and Detective Superintendent Håkan Wessung, head of serious crime in Sweden's Kalmar, told SVT that "we don't rule anything out".
