#SHOWBIZ: Ooh! La! La!: Fourth day added to phenomenal GenKRU concert
KUALA LUMPUR: Riding the wave of phenomenal demand that saw the first three nights of the GenKRU concert sell out, Icon Entertainment has announced a fourth show by the iconic trio, now set to ignite the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil, here, on May 11.
Icon Entertainment founder, Iman Tang, expressed his gratitude at the overwhelming response from KRU's legion of fans.
"Icon Entertainment extends a heartfelt thank you to all the KRU fans who snapped up tickets for the first and second nights of the GenKRU concert, selling out in under an hour."
"Tickets for the third night on May 10 have also been completely sold out.
"We are deeply moved by this incredible outpouring of support.
"It's a testament to the enduring love and appreciation for our national icon trio."
"On behalf of Icon Entertainment and KRU, I am both humbled and thrilled to announce the addition of a fourth night to the GenKRU concert," he said.
Tang acknowledged the responsibility to accommodate the fervent fans who had been vying for tickets, aiming to create even more unforgettable memories with Datuk Norman Abdul Halim, Datuk Yusry, and Edry.
"For those who missed out on tickets for the initial three nights, we want to ensure they have the opportunity to experience the magic on this final night," he added.
Datuk Norman revealed that the decision to extend the concert to four nights was a "gift" from Icon Entertainment and KRU.
"Considering that Monday, May 12, is a public holiday for Wesak Day, we are confident that the fourth night will be a resounding success."
"This decision was made swiftly, driven by the numerous DMs (direct messages) we received, urging us to add a show on Sunday, May 11."
"After careful consideration, we embraced this desire. Many fans even expressed their wish to relive the experience, having been utterly captivated by the earlier shows," he said.

National Youth Day celebration to showcase elements of Asean
KUALA LUMPUR: The National Youth Day (HBN) celebration on June 13-15 will be unique as it will showcase elements of Asean, in line with Malaysia's Chairmanship of Asean 2025. The HBN secretariat said the programme for the celebration at Dataran Merdeka includes the Asean Pavillion and Asean Concert to create the spirit of the Asean community and strengthen the culture of Asean countries among the youth. "The role of youth is seen as vital to strengthening Asean's regional network, particularly future collaborations in the fields of economy, leadership, education, technological innovation and social. In fact, youth can also act as junior ambassadors who can elevate the country's image globally,' it said in a statement. Themed "Yakin Boleh' (Believe You Can), the highlight of the 61st HBN celebration will be attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who will officiate the event and present the 2025 National Premier Youth Award (APBN) on June 14. "The theme illustrates the confidence, capability and competitiveness of the youth in facing challenges, including that of the current digital era. This theme also aligns with the Madani government's efforts to empower youths through various strategic initiatives as well as the values of confidence within the Madani framework,' it added. With the targeted presence of 4 million visitors, the Youth and Sports Ministry, through the National Youth and Sports Department (JBSN), has activated the HBN celebration at the grassroots level by implementing the Semarak HBN initiative in 113 districts nationwide since May 15. At the national level, the Semarak HBN initiative has been further enlivened by the inclusion of the National Youth Convention; eSports games and activities; career and technical and vocational education and training (TVET) carnivals; as well as programmes on fitness, leadership, arts, music and culture and awareness of mental health and cyberbullying. Other programmes include the Suara Belia (Voice of the Youth) podcast; the recitation of the Malaysian Youth Pledge at various levels; the 2025 HBN Special Islamic Affairs Premier Forum; and the implementation of Special Friday sermons nationwide through the collaboration of the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (Jakim) and State Islamic Religious departments. "Conceptualised as a festival and based on 15 segments/ports, it is an initiative with a 'youth for youth' approach that is designed to meet the needs and wants of today's youth. This structured programme is also based on the 10 elements of the Rakan Muda lifestyle,' the HBN secretariat added.- Bernama

#SHOWBIZ: Melly Goeslaw gives Malaysian fans a most colourful 'Prom Night'
KUALA LUMPUR: Popular Indonesian singer-songwriter Melly Goeslaw had more than 9,000 guests dancing and singing at their seats throughout her two-and-a-half-hour concert at Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil here. Her 9pm show organised by Icon Entertainment was the third season of "Ada Apa Dengan Melly & Friends?" which was also staged at the same venue last year. The concert was themed "Prom Night" and saw Melly, her musicians, backup singers and dancers all dressed in colourful and fanciful costumes. The 51-year-old artiste performed 26 songs, with several medleys. Among the hits that she performed were "Ingin Mencintai Dan Dicintai", "Berdua Lebih Baik", "Hey Ladies", and "Ku Bahagia". Melly also performed covers of Malaysian songs "Janji Manismu" (Datuk Aishah Ariffin), "Isabella" (Search) and "Betapa Ku Cinta Padamu" (Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza). Her guest artistes for the evening were Aina Abdul, Nicholas Saputra and Dinda Ghania, and Radin of Era served as the master of ceremonies. Among the artistes who attended the concert were Datuk M. Nasir, Siti Nurhaliza, Datuk Amy Search, Elite and Raffi Ahmad. From their seats, Siti Nurhaliza joined Melly in the song "Betapa Ku Cinta Padamu" while Amy joined her in "Isabella". Born in Bandung, Melly began singing as a backup vocalist for Elfa Secioria while she was still in secondary school. She is the daughter of the late veteran Indonesian pop singer Melky Goeslaw. In 1995, she formed the band Potret with her musician husband Anto Hoed. After releasing several albums with Potret, Melly began a solo career, releasing her eponymous debut album "Melly" in 1999. She reached the peak of her popularity in 2002 when she composed the soundtrack of the best-selling movie "Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?". Melly's onstage persona has been compared to Icelandic pop queen Bjork, with eccentric costumes and "wild" hairstyles. "Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?" garnered her a Citra Award at the 2004 Indonesian Film Festival. She has written and composed more than 500 songs, produced movie soundtracks and judged reality talent contests in her three-decade career.
