Indian soldier killed in IIOJK clash
Three Kashmiri freedom fighters embraced martyrdom while an Indian soldier was killed in separate firefights near the Line of Control, the Indian army said on Saturday.
The Indian army claimed to have killed three fighters in a clash that began on Wednesday in a remote forest in Kishtwar in the south of the disputed territory.
Senior Indian army official Brigadier JBS Rathi said troops had displayed "great tactical acumen". "In the gun battle, three terrorists were neutralised," he told reporters on Saturday in a commonly used term for freedom fighters who have been fighting against the Indian rule in Kashmir.
Weapons and "war-like stores" were recovered from the site, the army's White Knight Corps posted on social media platform X.
A soldier was killed in a separate incident late on Friday night in Sunderbani district along the Line of Control (LoC).

Israel's attack on Iran violates international law: FO
ISLAMABAD: Expressing Pakistan's unambiguous stance, Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson strongly condemned the Israel's attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities, calling them a sheer violation of international law. 'Pakistan strongly condemns unjustified and illegitimate aggression by Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Israeli military strikes violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran and clearly contravene the UN Charter and fundamental principles of international law. Iran has the right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter.' Pakistan stands in resolute solidarity with the people of Iran and unequivocally denounces these blatant provocations, which constitute a grave danger and a serious threat to the peace, security, and stability of the entire region and beyond, with serious implications. He stated that efforts are being made to evacuate Pakistanis from conflict zones are ongoing, with estimated 3,000 citizens have been successfully repatriated via Taftan, Baku, and Baghdad. With regard to recent conflict in May, the spokesperson asserted that Pakistan took measured actions in response to Indian provocations and aggressions, in line with international law. Islamabad continues to emphasise peaceful resolutions, particularly regarding the Kashmir dispute, he added. He announced that Pakistan is fully prepared to welcome and host Sikh pilgrims for Guru Arjun Dev Gee celebrations. However, the spokesperson added that no visa applications have been submitted to the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi for Guru Arjan Dev Gee's anniversary. Terror on the tracks
Jaffer Express – which had experienced an agonising hijacking drama in March, resulting in the killing of 64 people including hostages, attackers and hostages – is once again in the news. Yesterday, the passenger train was targeted with a powerful explosive device planted on the railway track. The remotely-detonated device tore through the train on Sindh-Balochistan border near Jacobabad, derailing four bogies. Fortunately, the passenger train escaped what could have been a deadly act of sabotage. That no lives were lost is nothing short of a miracle. This was not a random act of violence. It was an act of terrorism — targeted, deliberate and calculated to create fear and instability. The banned Baloch Republican Guards claimed responsibility in a statement that began circulating on social media within hours, leaving little doubt about the perpetrators or their intentions. More troubling is the growing evidence that such acts are not just rooted in local dissent but are sponsored and supported by their Indian patrons who aim to sow chaos and exploit internal fault lines. The train was en route to Quetta, a route long vulnerable to attacks designed to disrupt Balochistan's linkages with the rest of the country. This is not as an isolated incident, but as part of a broader agenda of asymmetric warfare. The message from the perpetrators is that they intend to keep striking at the heart of Pakistan's national cohesion. Mere condemnations and warnings will not suffice. Intelligence and rapid justice must now become the order of the day. The enemies of Pakistan — foreign and domestic are attempting to derail more than just trains when they target our collective confidence and unity. The response must be equally forceful but rooted in law, powered by will and backed by unambiguous action.
