Yahoo27-05-2025

Classic rock guitarist and singer Rick Derringer has reportedly died at the age of 77.
Derringer's longtime friend and caretaker, Tony Wilson, shared the news via Facebook. The guitarist was surrounded by his wife, Jenda, and Wilson when he passed on May 26.
No cause of death has been given.
Derringer shot to fame at age 17 when his band The McCoys recorded 'Hang On Sloopy.' The song reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1965.
After four years touring with The McCoys, Derringer joined Johnny Winter in 1969, forming Johnny Winter And. Derringer later joined Edgar Winter's White Trash full-time, and released the EP Roadwork.
Derringer released a solo album, All American Boy, in 1973, which featured the hit song 'Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo' as a single.
Later in his career, Derringer lent his talents to the albums of Alice Cooper, Richie Havens, Todd Rundgren, Steely Dan, Cyndi Lauper, Barbra Streisand, and Kiss, among others.
'Derringer's legacy extends beyond his music, entertaining fans with his signature energy and talent,' Wilson wrote in a statement. 'His passing leaves a void in the music world, and he will be deeply missed by fans, colleagues, and loved ones.'

Russell Wilson's Four-Word Message Catches Attention on Wednesday

Russell Wilson's Four-Word Message Catches Attention on Wednesday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There may not be a whole lot of excitement surrounding the New York Giants these days. But there is an opportunity for them to lay down some building blocks to create the foundation of a winning team that will prosper not too long from now. Advertisement They brought in veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, a 10-time Pro Bowler, and while he won't be manning the position for that long, he could serve as a serviceable bridge to the Giants' next franchise signal-caller. He posted an image of himself during an offseason workout on his Instagram account with the caption "Hard Work Pays Off," and fans reacted in a positive manner. "Dangeruss," one fan wrote. "My QB1💙❤️," another fan wrote. "I love you Russ," a third user wrote. "Yessss 🔥🔥👏👏," a fourth fan wrote. "Russell Wilson fan ONLY!!" a fifth user wrote. "Cook," another user wrote. Wilson played his first 10 seasons in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks, and he brought them a Super Bowl championship in the 2013 campaign, which was just his second in the league. Advertisement But with the team going stale, he was traded to the Denver Broncos three years ago. Plenty tabbed the Broncos as instant Super Bowl contenders, but Wilson's production dropped sharply, and the Broncos failed to make the playoffs in 2022 and 2023. He was able to take the Pittsburgh Steelers to the playoffs last season, but he clearly wasn't in their future plans, paving the way for him to head to New York. New York Giants quarterback Russell Penner-Imagn Images New York has wide receiver Malik Nabers, who had a stellar rookie campaign last year. It also has rookie QB Jaxson Dart, who the team is hoping can be groomed into a legitimate starter for years to come. Advertisement It will be difficult for the Giants to claim a playoff spot with several NFC teams looking more talented than they were in 2024. But at this point, improving on the 3-14 record they had last year would have to be considered progress. ‘70s rock band offers reward for ‘irreplaceable' stolen instruments

Storied rock band Heart is asking fans to help it recover two custom instruments that were stolen on the eve of its summer tour. Singer and guitarist Nancy Wilson's 'custom-built, one-of-a-kind purple sparkle baritone Telecaster with a hand-painted headstock' and multi-instrumentalist Paul Moak's 'vintage 1966 Gibson EM-50 mandolin' were among the items discovered to be missing, according to a statement posted to Wilson's Instagram account. The 'irreplaceable' instruments are believed to have been taken from the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., where the group's Royal Flush Tour kicked off on Saturday, May 31. Heart's members say the gear had been set up at the venue the day before the show. The trek is due to stop at San Francisco's Chase Center on Aug. 10. 'These instruments are more than just tools of our trade — they're extensions of our musical souls,' Wilson said in the social media statement, shared Tuesday, June 3. The post also includes photographs of the missing pieces. 'We're heartbroken, and we're asking for their safe return—no questions asked. Their value to us is immeasurable.' In an effort to recover the items, Heart is offering an unspecified reward to anyone who can provide information leading to their return. Those with tips should contact the band's tour manager, Tony Moon at tonymoon@ The Grammy-nominated group first rose to prominence in the mid-1970s, with breakout singles 'Magic Man' and 'Crazy on You' reaching the Billboard Hot 100 upon their release in 1975. While band members have shifted over the years, the group's current lineup consists of Wilson and her sister Ann, Moak, Ryan Waters, Ryan Wariner, Tony Lucindo and Sean T. Lane.
