Several people were rushed to the hospital after a public transit bus crashed into a vehicle in San Bernardino Tuesday afternoon.
The incident, which was captured on a nearby business's surveillance cameras, occurred just before 5 p.m. in the 1400 block of South E Street.
Police said the collision was caused when the driver of a white Toyota Corolla attempted to cross into the bus lane just as the bus, which was carrying passengers, was approaching.
Footage of the incident shows the Omnitrans bus hitting the driver's side of the Toyota causing the vehicle to skid sideways down the roadway before rolling over the curb.

It is unclear how many people were injured and in what conditions they were in, but officials with the San Bernardino Police Department said both passengers on the bus and in the Toyota sustained injuries.
No word on whether the driver of the Toyota will be facing charges or if alcohol and or drugs may have been a factor in the crash.

Two sisters killed in three-vehicle crash in Logan County

MORRISON BLUFF, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Two sisters were killed in a three-vehicle crash in Logan County late Friday night, according to a crash report. The report by Arkansas State Police said around 11:17 p.m. said a 2010 Toyota was traveling south on State Highway 109 across the Morrison Bluff Bridge as an 18-wheeler was traveling north. A 2011 Chevrolet was traveling behind the Toyota, the report noted. The Chevrolet hit the rear of the Toyota, causing it to cross the centerline and collide with the 18-wheeler, according to the report. The driver of the Toyota, identified as MacKenzie Arthur, 20, of Scranton, and the passenger, a minor, were killed in the crash. Arkansas Tech University confirmed that MacKenzie Arthur and her sister, Maddie Arthur, died in the crash. No other injuries were reported in the crash. Iowa Supreme Court allows lawsuits against Tyson executives over COVID deaths ATU said MacKenzie Arthur was an agricultural education major and would have been a senior during the 2025-26 academic year. She was on the Dean's List and/or the President's List at Arkansas Tech in multiple semesters. 'Mackenzie was a sweet soul,' Dr. Justin Killingsworth, interim head of the ATU Department of Agriculture and Tourism and associate professor of agricultural education, said. 'She was quiet in class, but she did great work. Mackenzie would have been an amazing teacher. She was a great person, and our hearts go out to the Arthur family.' The Scranton School District said in a social media post that Maddie Arthur was going to be a senior this upcoming school year and MacKenzie Arthur graduated in 2023 from the district. 'MacKenzie and Maddie brought light, love, and laughter to all who knew them,' SSD said in the post. 'Their memory will forever be a part of us, and their impact on our lives will never fade.' Thieves Using Simple Tool To Steal Toyotas In Record Numbers

Read the full story on The Auto Wire Thieves are using a simple tool to steal Toyotas in record numbers, creating a growing problem. This trend has started in Australia, and we fear if it hasn't already spread to the US, as well as other countries, it will soon Victoria, where many of the thefts are happening in Australia, car theft overall is at a record high. Data recently released for 2024 show a marked increase over the number of vehicles stolen in 2023. According to Aussie car site CarExpert, the rest of the country is seeing a very similar trend. The site notes that out of the six most stolen vehicles in Victoria, four are Toyotas. This is similar to the trend we've seen with Kia/Hyundai and Dodge/Jeep/Ram thefts here in the US and Canada. What's crazy is the device allowing thieves to swipe Toyotas with ease is available to purchase for around $500. CarExpert says it's readily available online, too. It's apparently able to do what expensive locksmith tools do, plus it requires little skill on the part of the thief. The key is Chinese vendors are selling these devices on the cheap and to literally anyone, putting them in the hands of criminals. It used to be only locksmiths had such things at their disposal and they had to invest thousands to have them. If your Toyota or Lexus has a push button ignition, it's vulnerable to attacks from this cheap device. A thief can use it to unlock the doors, then start the engine in a matter of minutes. Just like with Kia and Hyundai theft, not all of the Toyotas are stolen because they're valuable. Instead, the vehicles blend in easily, meaning law enforcement don't get suspicious of them. Then they're used for other crimes, like stealing other cars, breaking into businesses, dealing drugs, etc. Sometimes they are sold with fake plates, VINs, etc. either to other criminals on the cheap or to unsuspecting, innocent shoppers. Either way, it's easy money that helps finance organized crime. That's the thing with car theft: it fuels more crime in general. If you own a Toyota and are concerned about this happening to you, there are different aftermarket systems which will render this method of stealing your vehicle useless. We're not going to list them off here, but there's likely a shop in your area that specializes in these devices and can professionally install one for you. 3 teens arrested after Niagara police bust organized auto theft ring; vehicles destined for Iraq

A Niagara investigation has led to the arrest of three teens in connection with an organized auto theft ring involving 50 stolen vehicles. The investigation began in April after a 2024 Lincoln was reported stolen in Niagara and later recovered. Niagara Regional Police said a further investigation determined the suspects were using electronic devices to track, locate and steal primarily Lexus and Toyota vehicles from residential areas. The stolen vehicles were then transported to the Hamilton area where their factory-installed tracking devices were disabled. The vehicles were then loaded onto a transport truck and moved to Montreal. There, police said, the vehicles were placed in shipping containers, loaded onto cargo ships and transported to a major seaport in Iraq. A Niagara investigation leads to the arrest of three teens in connection with an organized auto theft ring. Police identified three suspects from the Hamilton area, which are believed to be connected to the theft of about 50 vehicles across Niagara and the Greater Toronto Area. On May 29, police executed five search warrants in the Hamilton area and seized 20 stolen vehicles, more than $50,000 and an airsoft pistol. An 18-year-old man and two 17-year-old youths, all from Hamilton, face multiple charges including theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a device for the purpose of committing theft of a motor vehicle. NRP Chief Bill Fordy said the investigation highlights the reach and sophistication of organized crime networks operating in Niagara, Ontario and beyond. 'To our citizens, we remain committed to working alongside our law enforcement partners at the local, provincial and national levels to dismantle these criminal enterprises,' he said in a statement. 'Together, we will continue to send a clear message that we will do everything possible to hold them accountable.' The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are anticipated. 'Hamilton police continue to work collaboratively with our policing partners to address the rise in auto theft,' said Ryan Diodati, acting police chief with the Hamilton Police Service. 'These focused, co-ordinated efforts are making a significant impact in disrupting and dismantling these organized networks.' Anyone with information on the incident is asked by police to call 905-688-4111 , ext. 1009346 or Crime Stoppers of Niagara at 1-800-222-8477 . Error!
