Who has qualified for the 2026 World Cup?
The 2026 World Cup will have a record 48 teams in the tournament to be co-hosted the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Uzbekistan, Jordan and South Korea
sealed qualification
on Thursday.
Forty-three teams will get their spots through their continent's qualifying process. Another two will secure their berths in the international playoffs featuring six teams and scheduled for March 2026. The three host countries automatically qualify.
What is the breakdown of berths?
Asia will have eight direct berths and one in the intercontinental playoff.
Africa has nine direct spots plus one for the intercontinental playoff.
North and Central America plus the Caribbean get three direct berths (plus the three host nations) and another two spots in the intercontinental playoffs.
South America has six direct spots and will send another team to the intercontinental playoffs.
Oceania for the first time has a guaranteed spot —
New Zealand clinched that in March
. It could add another with New Caledonia going into the intercontinental playoffs.
Europe will have 16 teams sure to play in the next World Cup.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The scuffling Philadelphia Phillies suffered a blow Saturday when they placed first baseman Bryce Harper on the 10-day injured list because of right wrist inflammation before their game against the Pirates. Harper sat out Friday night's 5-4 loss to the Pirates. The move is retroactive to Friday. The two-time National League MVP and eight-time All-Star is hitting .258 with nine home runs, 34 RBIs and eight stolen bases in 57 games. He missed five games from May 26 to June 2 with a bruised right elbow after being hit by a pitch from Atlanta's Spencer Strider. The Phillies are expected to play third baseman Alec Bohm at first while Harper is out, with utility player Edmundo Sosa taking over at third. The Phillies have lost seven of their last eight games, going from leading the NL East by two games to trailing the New York Mets by 2 1/2 games entering Saturday. Philadelphia had won 11 of 12 games before the skid. Infielder/outfielder Otto Kemp's contract was purchased from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The 25-year-old, who has yet to play in the majors, was hitting .317 with 14 homers, 55 RBIs and 11 steals in 57 games at Triple-A. Kemp was the International Player of the Month in April. This will be Robert's third stint of the season with the Phillies. The 30-year-old has given up one run in two-thirds of an inning over two games. ___

(AP) — Denny Hamlin is unfazed that a three-judge federal appellate panel vacated an injunction that required NASCAR to recognize 23XI, which he owns with Michael Jordan, and Front Row as chartered teams as part of an antitrust lawsuit. 'That's just such a small part of the entire litigation,' Hamlin said Saturday, a day ahead of the FireKeepers Casino 400. "I'm not deterred at all. We're in good shape.' Hamlin said Jordan feels the same way. 'He just remains very confident, just like I do,' Hamiln said. NASCAR has not commented on the latest ruling. 23XI and Front Row sued NASCAR late last year after refusing to sign new agreements on charter renewals. They asked for a temporary injunction that would recognize them as chartered teams for this season, but the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia, on Thursday ruled in NASCAR's favor. 'We're looking at all options right now,' Hamlin said. The teams, each winless this year, said they needed the injunction because the current charter agreement prohibits them from suing NASCAR. 23XI also argued it would be harmed because Tyler Reddick's contract would have made him a free agent if the team could not guarantee him a charter-protected car. Hamlin insisted he's not worried about losing drivers because of the uncertainty. 'I'm not focused on that particularly right this second,' he said. Reddick, who was last year's regular-season champion and competed for the Cup title in November, enters the race Sunday at Michigan ranked sixth in the Cup Series standings. The charter system is similar to franchises in other sports, but the charters are revocable by NASCAR and have expiration dates. The six teams may have to compete as 'open' cars and would have to qualify on speed each week to make the race and would receive a fraction of the money. Without a charter, Hamlin said it would cost the teams 'tens of millions,' to run three cars. 'We're committed to run this season open if we have to,' he said. 'We're going to race and fulfill all of our commitments no matter what. We're here to race. Our team is going to be here for the long haul and we're confident of that.' The antitrust case isn't scheduled to be heard until December. NASCAR has not said what it would do with the six charters held by the two organizations if they are returned to the sanctioning body. There are 36 chartered cars for a 40-car field. 'We feel like facts were on our side,' Hamlin said. None of the players have been in the spotlight quite like Pulisic, the team's talisman who requested the summer off after a grueling campaign with AC Milan. With some of the USMNT's more established players absent, there will be opportunities for unproven players to make a case to Mauricio Pochetiino ahead of a home World Cup next summer. Speaking to reporters ahead of Saturday's friendly against Turkey, Adams said the focus should be on those players. On the missing players, Adams said: "Those guys are such important players to our squad, and every single person knows that. They are some of my best friends, guys that I talk to consistently, but the focus can't be on guys that aren't in camp. It has to be on the guys that are in camp and the opportunity that's at hand for a lot of these young players." Pulisic has made 50 appearances in back-to-back seasons with Milan, where he's revitalized his career and become one of the most important players for the Rossoneri. Given his importance to the USMNT, the 26-year-old's absence has been a major talking point. But for Adams, the continuing focus on Pulisic isn't fair to the players who will be looking to regain the Gold Cup title. "I think it's unfair to players that have gotten called in that we're talking about Christian and the reasons that he's not in camp," Adams said. "It's taking the focus away from the team. "He has personal reasons and maybe needs a break, or just to decompress a little bit from all the football that he's played in the past couple of years. And we need to focus on the guys that are here in camp, and the expectations that we can live up to." The USMNT will face Turkey and Switzerland in pre-Gold Cup friendlies before kicking off the Concacaf competition against Trinidad and Tobago on June 15.
