Samsung Starts One UI 8 Beta Program: How To Install And Which Devices Supported

Samsung One UI 8 beta program has started with select countries this week and you can try out the new version on these Galaxy phones.
The One UI 8 beta program is available for the Galaxy S25 models.
Samsung has officially opened the gates for the One UI 8 beta program this week, starting with a few countries for now. The company has also confirmed that the Android 16-based One UI version will be making its debut with the next Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 models later this year.
Samsung and Google have enhanced their partnership in recent years and it seems that is helping the company to bring newer Android upgrades for its devices much earlier than before. The One UI 7 update cycle took a big hit last year but Samsung now seems intent to redeem its strategy.
The One UI 8 beta program is available for Galaxy S25 users in countries like Germany, Korea, United Kingdom and the US from this week onwards. Other regions like India should be part of the program in the next phase.
The One UI 7 upgrade was Samsung's biggest in terms of the design UI overhaul, but the One UI 8 version is likely to see incremental changes, which seems to have helped its cause and offer a faster OS rollout this year. So if you are in any of these countries, you need these phones to try out the One UI 8 beta version:

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will be the first to get the One UI 8 update out of the box. Before that, the company wants to ensure that the platform is stable, bug-free and the features work as expected.
It seems the company will give emphasis to major UX and AI updates with the new version. Samsung says, 'One UI 8 will also recognize your context, offering personalized, proactive suggestions that support your unique daily routine."
But to make sure that the AI data processing is secure, the company is going to have more flexibility with the One UI 8 update. 'One UI 8 also provides settings where you can choose to process data only on the device, as many of our Galaxy AI experiences use both on-device and cloud-based AI processing," the blog post adds.

These are some of the features that Samsung is bringing with the Android 16-based One UI 8 update but for now the beta program will look to fix the issues and get the new version ready for its official release sometime in the Summer 2025.

LinkedIn lays off hundreds as tech giants continue to cut jobs

According to a report by Business Insider, if Apple wants to modernise Siri to its competitors' levels, it may need to build critical AI components from scratch—an expensive, time-consuming process that could take years. Otherwise, it may be forced to rely more heavily on competitors or acquire startups at scale to catch up. For recent AI training, Apple even requested access to Google's TPUs—essentially borrowing infrastructure from a direct rival. Reportedly, Apple is also about 7 years behind Google in developing AI chips for data centers. When it comes to data, though Apple has access to huge volumes of data from its devices, it has been conservative in using that data for AI training due to its privacy-first policies. This restricts its ability to build and refine large-scale models. The report also said that Apple has also lagged in recruiting and retaining top AI talent. How this may be a risk to Apple If generative AI ends up reshaping how people interact with computing devices, including smartphones and laptops, Apple's delayed investment in AI infrastructure could become a critical problem. While other tech giants are rolling out robust, end-to-end AI systems, Apple is still piecing together the basic components.
