St. Patrick's Day falls on a Monday this year, so many chose to celebrate over the weekend instead. That includes Montreal, where thousands packed the streets for the city's annual parade. As Phil Carpenter reports, this year marks a lucky milestone.

Top Illinois wide receiver Quentin Burrell sets visit to a Notre Dame football camp

Top Illinois wide receiver Quentin Burrell sets visit to a Notre Dame football camp Notre Dame has added another participant to its Irish Invasion recruiting event, as Class of 2027 wide receiver Quentin Burrell is returning to South Bend for another visit this weekend. The Mount Carmel (Chicago, IL) product visited Notre Dame in April after receiving an offer from the Fighting Irish on St. Patrick's Day. The 6-foot-3, 175-pound four-star prospect is the second-ranked high school player in Illinois, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Burrell has a plethora of offers from major schools, such as Michigan, Penn State, Auburn, Ole Miss and Washington. He has not taken any visits in the last month-plus, but he plans to be busy visiting in June, including a camp at Ohio State. He plans to compose a list of top schools by the end of the summer, and the Irish are well-positioned to make that list. 'I think with how everybody has been around and interacting with me, I feel like Notre Dame has a pretty big shot' he said. Burrell, who won a state championship in 2024, caught 75 passes for 1,257 yards and 18 touchdowns as a sophomore.

Notre Dame amp-up song reported to be included in major video game franchise

Notre Dame fans might be getting a little treat inside the Electronic Arts video game EA Sports College Football 26 when it launches on July 10. Fighting Irish fans who attend home games or watch them on NBC/Peacock know that the stadium operations crew plays The Dropkick Murphys' "I'm Shipping Up to Boston" to fire up the crowd just before kickoff. The song, which was also popularized in the 2006 movie The Departed and is a staple of rowdy bars every St. Patrick's Day, might be included in the game. Whether that will only be for when the player is playing as the Irish and it's a home game, or for every Notre Dame home game (i.e. if the player is playing as another school visiting a computer-controlled Irish squad), remains to be seen. Notre Dame won't be the only school getting this treatment -- Virginia Tech's use of the Metallica classic "Enter Sandman" might also be replicated in the virtual world, along with others. Apparently, when it comes to pump-up music, "it's in the game."
