
ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo Shares Enlistment Plans; To Begin Military Duty In July
In South Korea, all able men, including celebrities, between the ages of 18 and 35, are required to perform military service. Recently, ASTRO (아스트로) Cha Eun Woo (차은우) shared his enlistment plans and date.
According to an exclusive report published today (29th May 2025, Thursday), Cha Eun Woo has been accepted into the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA) Military Band, as announced by the Military Manpower Administration. With his acceptance, the idol actor has confirmed his enlistment date. He will begin serving his mandatory military duty on 28th July 2025 (Monday).
Cha Eun Woo's label, Fantagio, confirmed the news in a recent statement. The label shared with fans, 'Cha Eun Woo, who recently applied for the ROKA Military Band, received a letter of admission from the Military Manpower Administration earlier today. Therefore, he will enlist for his mandatory military service through the recruit training centre on 28th July.'
The 28-year-old will undergo six weeks of basic training before he carries out the remainder of his two-year mandatory service in the military band. As a precaution for the safety of Cha Eun Woo and the public, Fantagio said it won't release details on the exact location and time of the idol's enlistment. The company also said there will be no special ceremonies held either.
The ROKA Military Band is a South Korean state ceremonial unit of the Republic of Korea Army. It specialises in Korean martial and traditional music and performs at state arrival ceremonies at the Blue House in Seoul. Other notable idols and singers who are currently serving in the ROKA Military Band as part of their mandatory military service are NCT's Jaehyun (엔시티 재현), WOODZ (우즈/조승연) and Yu Seung Woo (유승우).
