How to make the most of Glastonbury with friends – by someone who's been 19 times
I remember my first visit to Glastonbury festival like it was yesterday. It was the summer of 1999, I was with six very excitable, bucket hat-wearing, student mates. We pitched our cheap tents underneath a pylon between the Pyramid Stage and the Guardian tent, and the weekend was filled with non-stop laughs, joyful bewilderment and music from the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Manic Street Preachers, Hole and Gomez.
There have been a further 18 pilgrimages to Worthy Farm since. I've done it in many different formations – with that same group of university friends, with just my boyfriend, taken my younger sister on her inaugural visit, and even camped out in a group of 20 – and each experience has been magical in its own way.
I've been lucky enough to enjoy performances from legends such as David Bowie, Beyoncé, the Rolling Stones, Kendrick Lamar and Diana Ross. I've mingled with Kate Moss, Pete Doherty and Jarvis Cocker, and I even made it on to Kanye West's guest list to get a last-minute ticket in 2015.
Glastonbury has grown from a handful of stages back in 1999 to a 365-hectare (900-acre) behemoth, catering for more than 140,000 attendees, so it can get pretty confusing when you're with friends who want to enjoy different things. But there are some failsafe tricks that help to make it a stress-free, joy-filled experience. Whether there are two of you or you're a party of 10, here are my top tips to get organised for your best festival yet.
Glastonbury is huge. It can feel like you're navigating a small city, so get ahead of the crowds and decide where to camp before you get there, especially if you and your mates are arriving at different times. Study the site map on the Official Glastonbury 2025 app, powered by Vodafone, to pick the best spot for you and your friends based on the stages whose lineups you like the most.
The quickest way to do this is by checking where your favourite artists are playing using the Glastonbury app. Then use the map to locate the closest camping grounds, for example: Oxlyers campsite is good for the Other Stage, the Park Stage, Arcadia and Silver Hayes, while Hawkwell and Hitchin Hill are near the Pyramid Stage, Woodsies and public transport drop-offs.
Campsite decided, use the app's map to locate your closest pedestrian gate and head for car parks nearest to it – this is crucial, as the walk from your vehicle to the campsite can be a bit of a slog with all your belongings. My mates and I always stop for a drink to break up the journey (with something soft for the drivers) and embrace it as part of the Glastonbury experience.
With about 100 stages and more than 2,000 acts performing at Glastonbury, it's impossible to see everything. Use the Glastonbury app to find and highlight all your favourite acts and create your own personal lineup. This way, you can spot any potential clashes – and the shared-lineups feature now automatically updates, which means it's even easier to keep track of what your friends are seeing. Last year, Idles and Fontaines DC played at almost the same time and split my group of friends down the middle. However, we all managed to meet up for the last few songs of Fontaines DC (who were on a little later) by using the Glastonbury app's pin location function to find each other.
Allow time to check out non-music areas such as the Green Fields, Carhenge and the Theatre & Circus fields – these are all great places to hang out with your whole group of friends or chill out as a pair, and also get some great photos.
There is one thing that does make planning tricky: secret acts. In the past, my friends and I have caught last-minute performances by artists including the Libertines, Foals, the Charlatans and Lizzo. If you don't want to miss out, check the Glastonbury app for 'TBA' slots in the weekend's programming and watch out for bands with fake-looking names – the Foo Fighters were listed as the Churnups in 2023. Also, keep an eye on the app's news section, listen to the on-site radio station Worthy FM (87.7FM) and speak to staff at the stages in question for a cheeky tip-off.
Despite the odd rain shower, there hasn't actually been a muddy Glastonbury since 2016, and to be honest, I haven't packed wellies for years. Instead, I opt for less cumbersome trail shoes or walking boots.
My top tip would be to pack items that can be layered, to get you from mild mornings through hot sunny afternoons into chilly evenings – plus the possible rain shower. Also, speak to friends about sharing clothes and footwear to avoid overpacking. My sister and I are the same size and have similar tastes, so we managed to swap items around over the weekend.
Also speak to your mates about fancy dress themes – this is particularly popular for the 'legend slot' on the Sunday afternoon. My friends and I opted for sequins for Kylie Minogue, a 1970s theme for Diana Ross and matching Elton John tops for his headline performance in 2023. This year, Rod Stewart takes the legend slot – so it's blond mullet wigs at the ready.
If you do forget something, there are plenty of stalls on-site selling everything from wellies to preloved vintage items at reasonable prices. Check the Glastonbury app powered by Vodafone for store locations.
I've managed to lose mates when we were simply walking from one stage to another – it only takes one unplanned toilet or food stop. If you do get split up, use the new live location function on the Glastonbury app to find each other – this is especially helpful if you're at the festival as a pair and don't fancy being by yourself for too long.
Long gone are the days of the vague 'meet you at the left of the mixing desk' instructions – instead, use the pin drop functionality in the app to arrange meeting spots ahead of headliners, when stage areas are at their most crowded. It's also a good way to find your way back to your camping spot – in a sea of tents that all look exactly the same after a few pear ciders.
The festival ground is so vast that by the end of the weekend you might feel as if you've walked and danced a marathon. This year, the new step-counting feature on the Glastonbury app will show you just how much ground you've covered. And you can share the news with friends!
Despite your best intentions, there's one thing that can scupper all your plans: running out of phone battery. Back in 1999, coverage was sketchy and once we were out of charge, our phones were useless for the rest of the festival. Now, Glastonbury is powered by Vodafone, with phone masts providing fast and reliable connectivity over the entirety of the site.
Head to Vodafone's Connect & Charge area for access to wifi, and a place to charge your phones for free. If you don't want to waste time waiting around while your mates are off seeing bands, instead buy a fully charged battery pack (these can be pre-ordered), which can be swapped free once a day for a fully charged one when yours runs out. For every battery pack purchased, Vodafone will donate a pre-loaded sim card to a range of charities in the south-west that support digitally excluded people. That way, you can give something back to the local community while also making sure you don't miss a moment with your friends.

FOLLOWING years of fevered speculation over who's the mystery owner making vast profits from toxic website Tattle, the truth has finally been revealed. It's an Englishman called Sebastian Bond, aka Bastian Durward (anagram 'u inward bastard' — how apt.) 6 6 And guess what? He's a ' vegan blogger' who has written plant-based recipe books and probably subscribes publicly to the #BeKind mindset while simultaneously making around £500k a year in ad revenue from the largely anonymous vitriol posted by his site's users. Tattle, for anyone in blissful ignorance, is infamous for unfiltered discussions about celebrities and online influencers, including my friends Stacey Solomon and GK Barry, who are both genuinely lovely people and deserve better than to be harshly judged by someone who's probably never even met them.. It claims to be a forum for 'free speech' and, for sure, many of the posts making firm but fair criticisms of anyone who monetises their life by putting it online fall under this description. But there's also anonymously posted content that's at best, pure vitriol, at worst, downright lies that can ruin the subject's livelihood. And thanks to Bond's efforts to obscure his finances by operating across international jurisdictions such as Hong Kong, he has been happily profiting from other people's misery while shielding his own identity and income . . . until now. Enter Neil and Donna Sands from Northern Ireland. He's a 43-year-old tech entrepreneur, she's the 34-year-old founder of fashion label Sylkie, and together — after finding a 45-page thread of defamatory and false claims about them on Tattle Life — they used their own money to launch a legal action. In December 2023, it resulted in them being awarded £150,000 each and, this month, finally saw reporting restrictions on Bond's name being lifted. The High Court has also ordered Bond to pay costs of £1.8million, and frozen assets of over £1million, believed to be from the site's ad revenue. It will review this decision next week. The Sands have now made the following statement… 'For nearly a decade, the hate site Tattle Life has profited as a space where users could defame, harass, stalk and attack others online — all behind a veil of seeming anonymity . . . 'For some, this court ruling comes sadly too late, as the site has cost innocent people their businesses, reputations, and mental health. 'For others, we hope it marks a turning point — a reminder that the internet is not an anonymous place.' Except that, sadly, it still is unless you have the financial means for a protracted legal battle. I have been writing this column for nearly 30 years now, and every week it's checked by sub-editors, executives and lawyers before going to print. If I published a sentiment as blatantly vile and unfounded as some of the comments currently on Tattle, I would immediately be 'cancelled', lose the majority of my freelance work and rightly be sued. That's because my name is at the top of the column so I take full ownership of my views and I'm easy to track down. But the anonymity of some of the internet's worst trolls means that it's still the Wild West when it comes to libel laws, and I have long argued on this page that everyone should be required to have an online handle that, at the very least, includes their real name, a verified photo and country location, even if it's @JaneMooreUK4567. That way, it might make some of the internet's worst offenders think twice before posting downright lies designed to destroy someone's peace of mind or livelihood. Will this successful legal action prove to be the final nail in Tattle Life's coffin? Perhaps, but chop off the monster's head and, like the Hydra, it will simply grow another. The only way to truly thwart the worst of unfounded bile is to make online trolls identifiable so they think twice before posting it. I can reveal the ITV star has been handed a FOURTH series of her award-winning Getting Filthy Rich documentary which explores the new ways people sell their sexuality. It comes hot on the heels of the news that she will be hosting This Morning during the summer. Olivia made the announcement on Monday's episode as she joined Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard in the studio. She told viewers that she would be presenting the show with one of the regular co-hosts for a couple of episodes this summer. Olivia said: "I have some news, it's very exiting. I'll be joining you guys on the hosting team on the other side." She then jumped up and sat on the other side of the sofa next to Cat. Cat said: "We look amazing," while Olivia replied: "Can we do a show together now?" Olivia explained: "I'm going to be doing a couple of shows in the summer, I'm very excited to be joining you guys, a huge honour. "I've grown up watching this show and being part of the daytime team on Loose Women has been the best experience and this just feels like a very natural progression." The new science fiction action film, which comes on the heels of Jurassic World Dominion (2022), is the seventh film in the Jurassic Park franchise and stars a whole new ensemble cast, with Scarlett in the lead role. On a top-secret mission, the characters fight for their lives in a battle against much larger and dangerous foes. The stunning Marvel star — who previously admitted it was her 'childhood dream' to star in a Jurassic Park movie — leads the charge as she protects her teammates on their life-threatening mission to obtain the DNA of the most ferocious beasts at the site of the now-destroyed research facility for the original Jurassic Park. The movie is set half a decade after the 2022 Jurassic World Dominion movie, which starred Bryce Dallas Howard alongside Chris Pratt, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill among many more in the all-star cast. The synopsis of the movie reads: 'Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet's ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. 'Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived,' the summary continues. Last year Scarlett told that the 'script is so incredible' and gushed how David Koepp wrote it. 'He returned after like 30 years to write the script. He's so passionate about it, which is so awesome,' she raved. 'I'm such an enormous fan of the franchise and huge nerd for it. I'm just like, I can't even, I'm pinching myself.' Johansson added. 'I've been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over 10 years.' Steven Spielberg is back as executive producer on the project, which is a joint-venture production between Amblin Entertainment and Universal. Principal photography began in mid-June in Thailand and went on for about a month until the production moved to Kalkara in the island country of Malta in the Mediterranean Sea, located in Southern Europe for another month. From there, the shoot went to Sky Studios Elstree in London, England in August for another round before moving on in late September to New York City Jurassic World Rebirth is scheduled to hit theaters in the UK and US on July 2, 2025.
