The U.S. Air Force Special Warfare Partnered with OTX for 2025 Season Opener in San Diego

United States Air Force Special Warfare Operator Leo Zapata Met with Fighters for an Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Experience BROOKLYN, N.Y., June 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The United States. Air Force recently teamed up with Overtime Boxing (OTX) as the official sponsor of their first fight of 2025 at Sycuan Casino Resort in San Diego. Among those in attendance was United States Air Force Special Warfare Operator Staff Sgt. Leo Zapata who received an exclusive look at the preparation for OTX alongside the fighters in recognition and honor of his service. On Friday, March 21, Staff Sgt. t Zapata joined a mitt work session and received pointers from OTX fighters Jonny Mansour, Maliek Montgomery and Kurt Scoby. Staff Sgt. Zapata then attended a press conference with the fighters and had the opportunity to ask about insights into their training and routines. Staff Sgt. Zapata also met with OTX broadcast talent Akin "Ak" Reyes, Barak Bess, and Corey Erdman for a behind-the-scenes look at the sport. On Saturday, March 22, before the night's action began, fans had the chance to meet Staff Sgt. Zapata and take on U.S. Air Force special warfare drills to test their own grit and strength. Later that evening, Staff Sgt. Zapata and members of the recruitment team watched as Mansour stole the show in a featured bout and electrified his hometown crowd by knocking out his opponent in under two minutes. Following the fight, Staff Sgt. Zapata and Mansour planned to keep in touch and train together at Mansour's local gym. A California native, Staff Sgt. Zapata enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 2014 after a year-long wait to ship out for basic training. He signed up as a Tactical Air Control Party Specialists (TACP) from the start and successfully completed the rigorous pipeline on his first attempt, graduating in December 2014 with Eagle 97 flight. Over his 11-year United States Air Force career, he served at Fort Bliss, TX, completing two combat deployments to Afghanistan and Operation Inherent Resolve. Zapata later moved to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA and deployed to South Korea. Throughout his service, he completed both Airborne and Air Assault training. Off duty, Staff Sgt. Zapata is a proud husband and father to a 3-year-old daughter, balancing family life with his passions for soccer, shooting, travel, and hopefully returning to skydiving. Looking ahead, OTX will travel to Philadelphia for OTX 14 on June 13th. As part of its partnership with DAZN, all fights will be available to stream for free on the DAZN app, as well as on DAZN and Overtime social channels. Fans can also catch OTX fights on Victory+. Oilers at Panthers Stanley Cup Final Game 3 odds, picks: Another OT thriller incoming?

For the first time since 2014, we've experienced consecutive overtime games in a Stanley Cup Final. Interestingly, the 2014 Final, featuring the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings, had the first game go to overtime before the second game went to double overtime. But there's no way this year's championship final could go to a third straight overtime game, right? The hockey world has been spoiled enough as it is with this year's Cup Final. Advertisement Series tied 1-1 Series odds: Panthers -115, Oilers -105 This Cup Final has two future Hall of Famers and Stanley Cup winners in Corey Perry and Brad Marchand taking centre stage. Marchand and Perry are both first and second in most goals in the Cup Final among active players. Both men are also on active point streaks. Marchand has three goals and points in his last three games (all on the road), while Perry has three goals and five points in his previous four. If you're banking on an elder statesman to deliver in Game 3, Perry and Marchand have brought it in recent games. There's every reason to think that at least one of them could continue their string of stellar performances. It's Sergei Bobrovsky's time to shine at home. He's only had one game in his last four appearances at home where his save percentage dipped below .900. Maybe he'll record the same stat line for a third consecutive game. Bobrovsky allowed four goals on 46 shots for a .913 save percentage in both Game 1 and Game 2. Stuart Skinner, meanwhile, won his last five consecutive starts until that Game 2 overtime loss. But he hasn't lost consecutive starts since he lost his first three playoff appearances earlier this spring. Betting/odds and ticketing links in this article are provided by partners of The Athletic. Chalmers targets World final after new personal best

Alastair Chalmers reached the semi-finals at last summer's Olympic Games in Paris [Reuters] Alastair Chalmers says he is targeting the 400m hurdles final at the World Championships in Tokyo after running a personal best. Guernsey's reigning British champion, 25, clocked 48.30 secs in Germany on Sunday, breaking his previous best by 0.24 seconds. Advertisement Chalmers narrowly missed out on the finals at the European Championships last summer before falling in the semi-finals at the Olympic Games in Paris. Should Chalmers finish in the top two at the forthcoming British Championships, he will be guaranteed a place in Tokyo, having achieved the qualifying standard. "So much can happen between now and then, I've just got to stay healthy," he told BBC Radio Guernsey. "I think on the day in Tokyo if I can execute a really good race and I'm healthy and in good shape then there is a good chance I could make that final. "It's going to be hard, but that's the whole point of competition, you've got to turn up on the day and give if your all and not mess up." Advertisement Chalmers has won the last five British titles and is in the form of his life, having improved his best time year on year. "Running the fastest time of your life is always a lovely feeling," he added. "When I crossed the line I was just very happy that I'd run that world qualifier, personal best, I think it was a meet record as well. "I'm just in a great place physically and mentally and it just allows me to go out and run quick on the track against some really high quality athletes." The World Championships in Japan will take place from 13-21 September.
