Harvey Weinstein Interviewed by Candace Owens From Prison: Defamed Producer Claims He Was ‘Wrongfully Convicted' and Attacks Accusations From Gwyneth Paltrow and Rose McGowan
Harvey Weinstein sat down with conservative political commentator Candace Owens for a tell-all interview on-camera from prison, in which the defamed producer maintains his innocence and rebuffs the claims of his Hollywood accusers.
Weinstein opens the interview by claiming he was 'wrongfully convicted,' denouncing the fact he was twice found guilty of sexual crimes: First in 2020 of a criminal sexual act in the first degree and third-degree rape, and the second in 2022 of rape. His 2020 conviction was overturned in 2024 because the trial judge allowed testimony based on accusations that were not included in the case, a point Weinstein brings up multiple times, seemingly as evidence to support his innocence. He describes his actions as merely 'mistakes' and asserts he has done nothing 'illegal.'

'I hurt my family. I hurt my friends. I cheated on my wife. And that was a mistake, you know, a terrible mistake,' Weinstein said. 'But I did not commit these crimes. I swear that before God, and the people watching now, and on my family.'
The infidelity, he asserts, was triggered by the pressures of his work. 'Oh, I was not a good boss,' he admits. 'I was tough and I was demanding, and I should have been better at it, but I wasn't. I had a temper. You know, I just should have controlled myself better. And the pressures of that work was my excuse for the cheating.'
Owens then prompted Weinstein to discuss some of his former accusers, including Gwyneth Paltrow. In 2017, Paltrow claimed Weinstein invited her into his hotel room, put his hands on her and suggested a massage after casting her in the 1996 film 'Emma.' The incarcerated Weinstein called the accusation 'a complete fabrication.' Though he admitted that he 'definitely made a pass,' he claimed he 'didn't touch her.'
'She thought the relationship was abusive. Anybody who was there, who witnessed that relationship with [Paltrow], it just turned into total friends,' Weinstein said. 'There's pictures of her hugging me when I was sick and in the hospital and didn't think I was gonna make it in 1999. Gwyneth, at the Golden Globes, said, 'Bomber, we miss you.' She got up and made a speech about me. Nobody asked her to do that. In her Academy speech, she thanks me.'
Weinstein argues that his falling-out with Paltrow instead happened because he didn't like the script for Donna Tartt's 'Secret History' that Paltrow and her brother Jake Paltrow wrote after he had optioned the bestseller.
Weinstein also addressed Rose McGowan, who came forward in a bombshell New York Times article published in 2017, claiming that Weinstein paid her $100,000 to stay silent about a sexual encounter at the Sundance Film Festival. The article quotes a legal document in connection with the cash, which states that the money was 'not to be construed as an admission' by Weinstein, and was only to 'avoid litigation and buy peace.'
Weinstein said the money was to make sure his infidelity to his then-wife, Eve Chilton, remained a secret.
'I settled with Rose McGowan,' he said. 'I gave her $100,000, you know, to say…just don't tell my wife, don't get me in trouble.'
As for what Weinstein has been up to since his historic fall from Hollywood royalty, he tells a clearly sympathetic Owens he's been helping some of his industry connections develop their films from jail.
'I have friends who are still in the industry who slip me their screenplays and ask me for notes,' Weinstein said. 'You know, can I do something for it? Can I help? Can I improve it? And I just give them my honest thoughts. So I'm not doing anything for me, but I'm doing things for others.'
Weinstein is currently on trial in New York and charged with two counts of committing a 'criminal sexual act' in the first degree and one count of third-degree rape. The charges stem from accusations by former model Kaja Sokola, former TV production assistant Miriam Haley and actor Jessica Mann.

Immediately afterward, Combs allegedly left the hotel. Jane said she was 'so high' from ecstasy given to her by Combs and felt 'lonely.' Jane said 'hotel nights' became a weekly occasion during parts of her relationship with Combs. The longest 'hotel night' Jane remembers having lasted more than three days without sleep. She said the shortest of such encounters lasted 12 hours, and a typical 'hotel night' spanned 24 to 30 hours. Jane said she told Combs multiple times that she did not want to have sex with other men, and that he was 'dismissive' of her concerns. An audio recording from a hotel room in which Jane asked that an escort wear a condom was played in court. In the recording, Combs is heard brushing off Jane's request. Jane testified that on another occasion, Combs looked at her and said, 'You better not ask for a fucking condom' as an escort prepared to begin intercourse with her. Jane testified about one 'hotel night' that occurred on her birthday. She was eating at Nobu, having great one-on-one time with Combs, when he mentioned there would be 'entertainment' after dinner — a 'gulp moment' for Jane. They went to a hotel after the meal, where Combs gave Jane a necklace for her birthday. Then, an unfamiliar man entered the hotel suite. 'I just accepted it,' Jane said of the 'hotel nights.' The sexual routine became muscle memory for her. 'I've done so many of these, I just know how to tune out,' Jane said. 'I just put my thoughts away [and] tune into someone else. Somebody who can perform.' Through heavy cries, Jane described the alleged encounter as 'invasive.' 'I didn't want to do this on my birthday,' she said. After the escort finished, Combs and Jane moved to a different hotel suite, where Combs was 'sweet' and gave her another gift, alongside flowers, cake and balloons. She remembered another escort suddenly entering, and they had 'hours and hours' of sex. 'By the time he left, it was morning,' Jane said. She testified that Combs brought in a third escort immediately afterward. On one occasion, Jane testified, she performed a 'hotel night' without taking drugs. After having sex with two male escorts, she went to the bathroom and threw up. As a third escort entered the hotel room, she recalled Combs telling her, 'You'll feel better now that you've thrown up. Let's go.' In a text message from September 2023 that was read in court, Jane told Combs, 'I don't want to play this role in your life anymore … it's dark, sleazy and makes me feel disgusting.' Jane's testimony began on Thursday afternoon, when she told the jury that she met Combs while on a girls' trip in Miami in 2020. At the time, Combs was romantically involved with one of Jane's friends, and he invited them on a boat and to his house. She called him 'Ernie' and he called her 'Bert,' nicknames based on the 'Sesame Street' characters. Jane and Combs started a romantic relationship in January 2021, and Jane found him 'super charming,' 'passionate' and 'larger than life.' She told him that she had previously been in a relationship with one of his friends, and that she had a child with someone Combs disliked. A month later, Combs took Jane on a trip to the Turks and Caicos Islands, when he allegedly gave her the drug ecstasy 10 times over the course of nine days. Over the next few months, they met up every other week and had lots of sex. She said Combs often gave her cash payments, sometimes up to $10,000, as a loving gesture. Things changed in May 2021, when Combs began opening up to Jane about his sexual fantasies. Early one morning, they had been up for 24 hours straight on ecstasy and MDMA, and they were having sex for nearly 15 hours while watching pornography. 'He really wanted me to fantasize or talk about other men,' Jane said. She recalled Combs saying, 'I can make this fantasy a reality,' and, within a couple of hours, he brought her to a hotel room that was being set up by assistants. Combs hired a male escort named Don to come to the hotel, and he had Jane dress up in lingerie and 'big stripper heels,' as she called them. Jane described being high on drugs as Combs instructed her to pour baby oil on Don and then perform oral sex on him. Things escalated, and soon enough Jane was undressing and having intercourse with Don. After he ejaculated, she had sex with Combs. Jane said this experience 'exhilarated' her because 'it was taboo.' 'I had a good time with my partner,' she said. But 'that night opened a Pandora's box in our relationship,' Jane said. 'It was a door I was unable to shut.' Soon, having sex with other men became 90% of her time spent with Combs, Jane said. These 'hotel nights' could involve multiple rounds of sex with male escorts and with Combs, and they could span up to 30 hours without sleep. Jane said she told Combs 'many times,' both in writing and verbally, that she did not want to have sex with other men, a concern that Combs allegedly brushed off. When Jane moved from the East Coast to Los Angeles in 2021, Combs paid her $10,000 rent. When she expressed hesitancy about his sexual preferences, Combs insinuated that they could break up and he would stop paying her rent, she testified. Thus, she said she felt 'obligated' to 'perform' for him. In the September 2023 text, Jane told Combs that she felt the 'hotel nights' were 'the only reason you have me around and pay for the house.' Earlier in the trial, Combs' longtime ex-girlfriend Ventura alleged that over the course of 11 years, Combs used violence and threats of blackmail to coerce her into 'freak-offs,' drug-fueled sex parties with male escorts that lasted days at a time. Combs is pleading not guilty to charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. If convicted, he faces a possible life sentence in prison. 'Playground' drama threatened to tank Harvey Weinstein's sex crimes retrial on Friday — when one juror asked off the case after claiming childish antics had made deliberations 'unfair and unjust.' Juror No. 7, described as a 25-year-old 'computer kid,' told the judge he'd heard other members of the panel gossiping about one of their own in an elevator at Manhattan Supreme Court after deliberations Thursday. 4 AP Advertisement 'The experience I've had in the day-and-a-half here, in good conscience, I don't think this is fair and just,' the juror told the court Friday morning when he was brought to the witness box to explain why he wanted to be dismissed. He described the chaotic scene behind closed doors as 'playground stuff,' with some on the panel of seven women and five men ignoring fellow jurors as they weighed the charges against Weinstein. 'There's a bit of shunning happening,' the young man said — before pleading for Judge Curtis Farber to dismiss him from the case. One of the 12 jurors was excused on Thursday after complaining of illness, and replaced with an alternate. Weinstein, 73, sat in his wheelchair and stared ahead without any visible reaction during the judge's questioning of the juror. When the court reconvened after the lunch break, Weinstein's attorney, Arthur Aidala, asked for a mistrial claiming that the judge should have questioned the juror further and asked more in-depth queries to get to the bottom of the elevator beef and the drama inside the jury room.
