
Lena Dunham Is Living Her Botticelli Meets British Icon Nigella Lawson Fantasy
The cherry red dress features one draped shoulder on a strapless bodice, with draping that cascades over the hips into a train. The back is a tied corset with interweaving draping. It feels romantic, yet powerful and full of movement. Misner's sensual signature look speaks in service to the contours of the body, using draping techniques to extend and celebrate curves.
'I noticed Lena liked the corseted pieces that had drape work on top, one of my signature methods—each piece is one-of-one,' says Misner. 'This method helps me manipulate silhouette, adding volume to hips and accentuating a corseted waist. Originally, we were going to do a midi dress with a boned hoop, but switched to a full length to make it more red carpet-worthy. They really trusted me and let me do my own thing, so when it was finished, it was the first time they had seen what it would look like.'
Misner prioritized both Lena's comfort and support in the dress, making an internal boned base, with a hand-sewn drape put on afterwards. 'I knew she would be wearing the dress for a whole evening, and I didn't want it to feel uncomfortable or constricted, regardless of the corsetry,' she explains. As the designer does with each custom piece, she built Dunham a mannequin to match her measurements and then worked directly off it as a body double.
'Together they made possible the most striking Botticelli fantasy; a little bit early Renaissance, a little Nigella Lawson—my curvy British icon,' says Dunham. 'It embraces what I love about my body, drapes in inventive ways, and makes me feel both powerful and innocent. It's such a gift to wear. Michael and Ellie are both so young and have such vision.'

'Every piece from Ellie is truly one of a kind. Her dedication to individuality and creativity—paired with an unwavering commitment to size inclusivity—is what makes Ellie herself so unique,' says Handler.
Fitting, however, had to happen digitally—with a lot of yapping and quicktime getting to know each other. Misner FaceTimed Lena, Handler, and his team in New York when the dress got to them, and a week later for her digital fitting. The dress fit perfectly, and they decided to go bolder and make a long, detachable train. Handler sourced a matching fabric and built it in New York under Misner's guidance. 'It's something that gave her that red carpet 'wow' moment,' says Handler.

After Top Gun: Maverick soared to unexpected heights in 2022, both at the box office and in the hearts of fans, it felt like the story of Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell had finally found its landing strip. The sequel hit all the right notes with its high-octane aerial action, a great story, and characters. So, what's left for Top Gun 3 to do? Quite a bit, apparently, and it's not what you might expect. Director Joseph Kosinski is back in the cockpit, and this time he's charting a new kind of flight path. While promoting his upcoming film F1 , Kosinski teased in an interview with GQ the current thinking behind the third Top Gun installment, and the mission ahead may not involve missiles or MiGs, but something far more personal. 'We're thinking much bigger than ... It's a really existential crisis that Maverick has in this, and it's much bigger than himself. It's an existential question that Maverick has to deal with, that would make Maverick feel small, I think, as a movie, compared to what we're talking about.' Kosinski teasing that Maverick will feel 'small' next to what's coming says a lot about the emotional or thematic scope they're aiming for. And while McQuarrie, who co-wrote Maverick, has said he already knows what Top Gun 3 will be, he's playing it just as coy. The only thing we know for sure is that this will be 'one last ride' for Maverick, and Kosinski believes there's still 'more story to tell' for the iconic pilot. The lingering question is whether this story will stick with the Top Gun training program or steer into brand new territory altogether. Given how Maverick already balanced legacy characters with fresh recruits, it's hard to imagine the third film rehashing the classroom setting again. More likely, Maverick will either be called out of retirement for one final mission, or face a challenge that doesn't involve a cockpit at all. Could the enemy this time be time itself? Mortality? Legacy? Kosinski's 'existential' comments makes it sound less about fighting others and more about confronting what's next for a man who's spent his whole life outrunning the ground. Kosinski also joked about Cruise reuniting with F1 star Brad Pitt in a crossover of sorts, saying: 'Right now, it'd be Cole Trickle, who was [Cruise's] Days of Thunder character, we find out that he and Sonny Hayes [Pitt's character in F1] have a past. They were rivals at some point, maybe crossed paths ... I heard about this epic go-kart battle on Interview with a Vampire that Brad and Tom had, and who wouldn't pay to see those two go head-to-head on the track?' Sadly, Pitt reportedly only wants to work with Cruise again 'on the ground', which makes his involvement in Top Gun 3 unlikely unless Maverick trades the flight suit for a racing helmet. Top Gun 3 doesn't have a release date yet, and with Kosinski's F1 scheduled to hit theaters on June 27, 2025, we may be waiting a bit longer to see how Maverick's next chapter plays out. But if the creative team really does go for something bigger, bolder, and more introspective, this could be more than just another legacy sequel, it might actually be the rare finale that explores what happens when the thrill is gone.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS Featurette and Promo Shows Off Some New Footage — GeekTyrant
If you're even a little excited about Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps , this new behind-the-scenes featurette and promo spot is something you'll want to watch prior to tomorrow's big trailer. The featurette is currently screening in AMC Theaters and now making the rounds online gives us our best look yet at the MCU's fresh take on Marvel's First Family. There's a solid chunk of new footage sprinkled throughout the featurette, including shots of the team traversing what appears to be the massive, crumbled hand of Galactus. There's also a fun peek at Ebon Moss-Bachrach in full motion-capture gear as The Thing, offering a glimpse of how this character is being brought to life behind the scenes. AMC Theaters also lists the film's runtime at 115 minutes. While that hasn't been officially confirmed by Marvel, it lines up with previous reports. The producers also opened up about the surprising amount of effort that went into the Fantastic Four's new suits. Executive producers Grant Curtis and Tim Lewis told Kino: "We looked at over 100 shades of blue. It was a long, long process, but when you see it, you say, 'OK, now I understand why we have the right one.' It would have been very easy to choose blue number 12. But it wouldn't have had the same effect." We also get a quick but delightful glimpse of H.E.R.B.I.E., the team's robotic assistant, who seems to be more than just comic relief. Moss-Bachrach explained: "It's kind of an unexpected, beautiful relationship that develops as we shot. This character that the designers and art department created is really charming. "I just try to incorporate little moments with him into scenes. It's great to improvise with this creature. He makes me happy." This new sneak peek is hoping to reassure fans that Marvel is handling Fantastic Four with care, style, and a little heart. Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel's First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus' plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren't bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal. Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne have been cast in mystery roles. Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom is rumoured to appear, though that's surely a given with Avengers: Doomsday on the way. Director Matt Shakman worked with both Avatar: The Way of Water co-writer Josh Friedman and WandaVision 's Cam Squires on The Fantastic Four: First Steps ' screenplay, with Eric Pearson ( Black Widow ) later coming on board for a final polish. The movie is set to be released in theaters on July 25, 2025.
