Super League involvement in Rugby League Las Vegas cannot be considered a success if it is a one-off, Wigan Warriors boss Matt Peet has said.Wigan beat Warrington Wolves 48-24 in a thriller at Allegiant Stadium on Saturday in the first Super League fixture to be played in the United States.The game was the first of four to take place at the stadium, including two NRL fixtures and England Women's heavy defeat by Australia Women, after the event's debut in 2024."I've seen some of the data on the engagements and the publicity we received and it seemed to reflect positively the vibe and energy around Las Vegas, which certainly felt like a success," Peet told BBC Radio Manchester."But ultimately we have to build on it now as a competition and as a club."If it ends up being a one-off, it cannot be deemed a success. I think it's about what happens next."
'I want to see Salford back doing what they do best'
In contrast to Wigan and Warrington's positive experiences in Vegas last week, nearby Salford Red Devils have had another tumultuous week, battling off-field financial issues.The club were placed back under cap restrictions with immediate effect on Tuesday amid continued financial uncertainty and players still waiting to be paid for February.The club have been allowed to make changes to their 17-man squad to face Castleford on Friday and Peet hopes Paul Rowley's side can get back on an even footing and be a competitive force in Super League again, as they were in 2024."I just hope that people who are working at Salford, the players and staff are alright," he said."I hope that they get their things sorted and get back to being a really competitive team. "A lot of friends of mine work at that club and they've added a lot to Super League so I want to see them get back to doing what they do best."
