Storm Team 3: Hot & humid, Sea breeze storms continue

Good morning – StormTeam 3 Meteorologist Alysa Carsley here – let's have a fabulous Friday! More of the same rinse and repeat pattern continues today and through Father's Day weekend. Scattered storms will develop across the coast first and push west of I-95 with the sea breeze. Some storms could become strong with gusty wind and heavy rain. Highs will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s. Heat index values will be over 100°F at times due to very high humidity levels. Rain tapers off every night. For Father's Day weekend – While a slight chance of rain will be possible both weekend mornings, the highest chance of rain continues to be through the afternoon and evening. The best time to celebrate dad will be in the morning part of the day – not only will it be drier, it is also the 'coolest' part of the day compared to the afternoon. Highs remain in the lower 90s. Be sure to keep an eye to the sky while staying hydrated if you have any outdoor plans over the weekend. By early next week, rain chances begin to back off just a bit with only isolated showers and storms each day. This will lead to sizzling temperatures in the mid 90s and humidity pushing the heat index to 105°F and higher each day. Heat advisories might be needed by the end of the week. Spotty showers continue Friday with brief break in midday for the Carolinas

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Rain and spotty storms linger this Friday morning, making for a wet and dicey morning commute. Temperatures have been locked into the low 70s overnight, with mid-80s expected to finish off the work week. Rain can be heavy at times, with a few lightning strikes possible. Look for storms and rain to taper off throughout the morning as winds stay light out of the south-southwest between 3 and 8 miles per hour. We'll get a bit of a break from the rain midday before the storms develop during the peak heating hours of the day. This will be as high temps aim for the mid-80s, landing near normal for this time of year. Friday afternoon and evening will yet again see spotty rain and storm chances with isolated downpours possible. Be on the lookout for storms to peak around dinner time and linger into the evening. We'll dip into the low 70s overnight as we head into Father's Day Weekend, and this active pattern continues. Look for Saturday to peak in the mid-80s before pop-up showers and storms plague the afternoon and evening. Sunday will bring more of the same for Father's Day, but a mix of sun and clouds will still be seen ahead of the wet weather. It won't be washed out by any stretch this weekend, but make sure to have a backup plan in place just in case. The upper 80s will land near 90 degrees heading into early next week as storm chances stick around through Monday and Tuesday. We'll be mostly dry but hot by Wednesday of next week. Friday: Mostly Cloudy & Warm with Showers & Storms. High: 85. Friday Night: Cloudy & Wet with Lingering Rain. Low: 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Air quality alert issued for central and southern N.J.

Another air quality alert has been issued for the Tri-State Area, this time for central and southern New Jersey. The alert will be in effect through 11 p.m. Friday. Here's what to know about the weekend forecast. Cooler with chance of showers today CBS News New York It sure was hot Thursday, with several locations hitting the 90-degree mark. While it will be cooler today, temperatures will be at seasonal levels, ranging from the upper 70s to lower 80s. A few spotty showers are possible, but overall, it's a mostly dry day, with a mix of sun and clouds. For tonight, showers move in, and they get steadier toward dawn. Will it rain on Father's Day? CBS News New York Those showers could last for most of the day on Saturday, continuing our unbreakable trend of having at least some rain on the weekends. Temperatures are going to be to be much cooler as well, likely not getting out of the 60s all weekend. Though Father's Day does not look as wet as Saturday, a few showers are still possible, as a stationary front lingers in our vicinity, leading to an unsettled pattern that could last into Monday. Rainfall totals over the next three days should average between .50-1". Flooding is not really a concern though. Along with the cool temperatures and rain, will come higher humidity levels through the period.
