3 cadets from Mai Bhago preparatory institute commissioned as flying officers in Air Force
Three alumnae of Mohali-based Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (AFPI) for Girls – Harnoor Singh, Kritee S Bisht and Alisha – have been commissioned as flying officers in the Indian Air Force, after successfully passing out from the Air Force Academy, Dundigal (Hyderabad), on Saturday.
The passing out parade was reviewed by Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, PVSM, AVSM.
Flying officers Harnoor Singh and Alisha have been commissioned in the education branch, while flying officer Kritee S Bisht has been commissioned as a flight controller in the administration branch of the Air Force.
Flying officer Harnoor Singh is the daughter of Vikram Singh Bains, principal in a government school, and hails from Pathankot. Flying officer Kritee S Bisht is the daughter of Shakti Sharan Singh, a senior engineer at PACL, Nangal.
Flying Officer Alisha is the daughter of Sunil Dutt, a teacher at a private school and hails from Jalandhar. Congratulating the three cadets, Punjab employment generation, skill development and training minister Aman Arora said their success will inspire more daughters of Punjab to pursue careers in the defence services.

NGO plants saplings in memory of plane crash victims
Madurai: As a tribute to the victims of the tragic Air India flight crash that occurred in Ahmedabad, Paravai Foundation, a Madurai-based NGO, planted 270 saplings around the Kodikulam tank near Surya Nagar on Sunday. The initiative aims to serve as a living memorial for the lives lost in the accident. "Each sapling symbolises a life, and the drive is our humble tribute to the memory of the victims," said Cholan Kubendran, the NGO's founder. The foundation has been involved in environmental initiatives, particularly tree planting drives across schools and public spaces in Madurai district. For this initiative, native species suitable for the tank ecosystem were selected to ensure long-term ecological sustainability. Volunteers, school students, and residents participated in the planting drive. The foundation also plans to ensure maintenance of the saplings including watering and fencing, in collaboration with the local community. Jaipur woman shares 5-hour no-AC ordeal inside Air India Express flight in viral video
A Jaipur-based woman has called out Air India Express for leaving passengers stuck inside a plane for over five hours, without air conditioning, crew response, or any basic communication about the Sethi, a dietician and nutrition consultant by profession, boarded Flight IX196 from Jaipur to Dubai on Saturday expecting a routine journey. What followed, according to her, was a distressing experience that left passengers, including children, sweating and helpless inside a stationary a now-viral Instagram video, Sethi alleged that passengers were made to sit inside the aircraft without air conditioning, updates, or any response from the crew.
