condoled the loss of life in Puri, Odisha after a stampede took place during the
Jagannath Rath Yatra
on Sunday, and said that this incident has exposed the mismanagement of the state government.
He also highlighted the alleged incidents of journalists being assaulted, saying that both incidents "prove the government's incompetence."
"We offer our heartfelt tributes to the departed soul and extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family. We urge the state to take immediate action and uphold the dignity of the sacred Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath," Kadam said in a post on X.

"It is deeply saddening that during the world-famous Rath Yatra, devotees lost their lives due to a stampede-like situation in front of the Gundicha Temple in Puri. This tragic incident has clearly exposed the mismanagement of the state government and administration in the eyes of countless devotees of Lord Jagannath," he added.
Talking about the alleged mistreatment of journalists, Kadam had said on June 27 that there were "shocking incidents of police brutality" at Puri.

Earlier today, atleast 3 people died and several others were injured in a stampede which took place during the Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri. Visuals from the postmortem centre in Puri showed families of victims gathered outside the facility.
Earlier today, Odisha Law minister Prithiviraj Harichandan confirmed that all arrangements have been made to ensure that the injured are provided medical care, while also condoling the death of 3 people.
The minister said, "Today, I am deeply saddened and heartbroken to hear about the incident at Shri Kshetra near Shri Gundicha Temple, where three devotees lost their lives due to a stampede during the darshan of the Chaturdhamurti... On behalf of the state government, all arrangements have been made at the Puri District Headquarters Hospital to provide the best medical care to the injured individuals. Along with this, I pray for the speedy recovery of all the injured persons."

This comes moments after announced the formation of a committee under educationist Dr Narendra Jadhav to suggest the way forward and implementation of the language policy. The panel has sought three months to study the issue and prepare a report. "The state cabinet has decided to withdraw the Government Resolutions (GR) issued in April and June regarding the implementation of the three-language policy from class one. A committee headed by Dr Narendra Jadhav will be formed to recommend implementation (of the three-language formula)," Fadnavis said. He said the government will take a fresh decision based on the report of Dr Jadhav, a former member of the Planning Commission and ex-Vice Chancellor. The Fadnavis government had issued a GR on April 16, making Hindi a compulsory third language for students in classes 1 to 5 studying in English and Marathi medium schools. Amid backlash, the government issued an amended GR on June 17 making Hindi an optional language. Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS had announced a joint march on July 5 to oppose the "imposition" of the Hindi language. The march was cancelled after the government withdrew the GRs.

Asserting that the law would not be allowed to take effect in Bihar, RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav said a future Mahagathbandhan govt would "throw the law into the dustbin". The criticism came during the 'Waqf Bachao-Dastoor Bachao' (Save Waqf–Save Constitution) rally organised by Imarat-e-Sharia at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, which witnessed a large turnout from across Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. The amended law, already passed by both Houses of Parliament and now under challenge in the Supreme Court, has emerged as a major election-year flashpoint. With the state heading into assembly polls, opposition leaders accused the NDA of using the Waqf law and the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to marginalise Muslims, Dalits and backward communities. According to Al Kashf, fishermen were notified of the bans via SMS messages that failed to provide clear timelines or durations. 'This lack of clarity prevents fishermen from benefitting during the most suitable times of the year,' Al Kashf told the Council. 'Veteran fishermen and sea-goers know the right times for the season to start, and the ministry is pushing efforts in the right direction,' Al Kashf acknowledged. 'But there is a clear call from fishermen to begin the season in early October instead, to match neighbouring countries.' The overarching request from the fishing community is clear: implement better communication, timely notifications, and a harmonized fishing calendar that aligns with other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Fishermen argue that such steps would not only make their work more viable but also help preserve fish stocks and the UAE's marine heritage.
