After an underwhelming 7-5 season in 2024, Florida A&M has added another talented quarterback to an already competitive QB room. Lawrence Wright IV, the son of Florida Gators legend Lawrence Wright III, is joining the Rattlers after leaving the Gators in the transfer portal. He announced his commitment to FAMU on his social media account.
Wright IV played his junior year at South Broward High School in South Florida before moving to Gainesville. At P.K. Yonge High School in Gainesville, the 6-foot-1, 243-pound quarterback wrapped up his high school career by rushing for 470 yards and six touchdowns, while also passing for 468 yards and one touchdown during his senior season.

Wright III, a University of Florida Athletic Hall of Famer, was a key player in the Gators' 1996 National Championship win. In 1995, he was named an All-American and also earned the prestigious Jim Thorpe Award. He contributed to four consecutive SEC championships before moving on to the NFL. Wright III spent two seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, recording 25 tackles across 18 games.
Wright IV's commitment comes after former Fordham quarterback CJ Montes committed to the Rattlers and then departed to rejoin Kent State. The son of the Florida legend will be tasked with winning the QB1 job last held by Daniel Richardson last season. Richardson emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in HBCU football.
Heading into the MEAC-SWAC Challenge against Norfolk State, Richardson was named as Florida A&M's starting quarterback and immediately secured his spot for the defending Celebration Bowl champions. He led the Rattlers to comeback wins over both Norfolk State and South Carolina State, showcasing his throwing accuracy and ability to make plays.
Richardson's play helped Florida A&M become ranked in the AFCA Coaches Poll before their loss to Jackson State. But, he ultimately suffered an injury against Prairie View A&M University in November. He wasn't on the sidelines for long as he finished out the season strong to complete the season for the Rattlers. Now, the Rattlers look to figure out the next step in their quarterback journey.

Now, Lawrence Wright IV will have the opportunity to create his own legacy at an HBCU and possibly be the quarterback to get the Rattlers back to their contending ways.

Barmore returned to the field on Nov. 17 and played in four games in 2024 before the Patriots placed him on reserve/non-football injury because of recurring symptoms that required further evaluation due to his blood clots. "That stuff I went through, man, I would never ever want nobody to go through that," Barmore said during the Patriots' mandatory minicamp this year (h/t "You know, like I said earlier, like, that stuff, imagine somebody stopping you from breathing, and literally, like, stopping you, like, literally. Like, now I can breathe again. Now, you know, lungs opened up. So what's up?" Now, coming into 2025, Barmore has been given the "green light by the Patriots' medical staff to fully participate in all offseason programs. "It's a blessing of God, man," Barmore said. "He never gave up on me. Just kept working hard, you know, and I kept my faith in God." When Barmore is healthy, he's proven he can be a force. He displayed it at the college level with Alabama, and he demonstrated the ability to transfer it to the professional level with the Patriots. Barmore won the National Championship with the Crimson Tide in 2020 and collected 37 tackles, 10 TFLs, eight sacks, and three forced fumbles that season. Advertisement Once with the Patriots, Barmore improved each season. The Patriots' defensive tackle broke out in 2023 before injuries halted another year of development in 2024. Barmore set career highs with 64 tackles, 16 quarterback hits, 14 TFLs, and 8.5 sacks in 2023. He also defended six passes and forced a fumble. Now, Barmore is ready to go out there and prove that he still has the fire and production he demonstrated in 2023. Spartans star Jase Richardson slides in latest ESPN NBA Mock Draft
Could Michigan State basketball star Jase Richardson be in for a long night on Wednesday? The latest mock draft from ESPN suggests that could be the case. The latest NBA Mock Draft on has Richardson slipping nearly out of the first round. In this updated mock draft (which was released on Monday), Richardson goes No. 25 overall to the Orlando Magic. Per NBA Draft insider Jonathan Givony, Richardson being left off the green room invitations list suggests a fall on Wednesday night could occur. Here's the full write-up from Givony on Richardson: "Richardson is the highest-ranked player (No. 18) on the ESPN big board not to get invited to the NBA draft green room (24 players invited), leaving some uncertainty about where he might end up being selected. "His draft range starts around No. 16 with Memphis, which has drafted several players in the past few years with similar statistical profiles and might end up having a backcourt void to fill soon, all the way to the mid-20s portion of the first round. "The Magic are another team that could look to add shooting and backcourt depth and might be intrigued by Richardson's scoring efficiency, defensive intensity and ability to play without the ball." Richardson starred for the Spartans in his lone season in college, averaging 12.1 points per game and shooting above 40% from three-point range. This strong play had Richardson once projected as a lottery pick by many, but he has gradually dropped in the mocks during the draft process. He is still widely considered a lock to be selected in the first round, but that could potentially becoming less of a lock now. We will find out where Richardson lands in the next few days, with the NBA Draft scheduled to take place on Wednesday and Thursday.
