Russian strike kills 5, including 1 year old, hours after Trump calls Putin
KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — At least five people, including a one-year-old child, were killed in a Russian drone strike on the northern Ukrainian city of Pryluky overnight, regional governor Viacheslav Chaus said Thursday.
The attack came just hours after Donald Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to Trump, Putin 'very strongly' said that Russia will retaliate for Ukraine's weekend drone attacks on Russian military airfields.
Six more people were wounded in the attack and have been hospitalized, Chaus said. According to him, six Shahed-type drones struck residential areas of Pryluky early Thursday morning, causing severe damage to residential buildings.
Hours later, seventeen people were wounded in a Russian drone strike on the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv early Thursday, including children, a pregnant woman, and a 93-year-old woman, regional head Oleh Syniehubov wrote on Telegram.
At around 1:05 a.m., Shahed-type drones struck two apartment buildings in the city's Slobidskyi district, causing fires and destroying several private vehicles.
'By launching attacks while people sleep in their homes, the enemy once again confirms its tactic of insidious terror,' Syniehubov wrote on Telegram.

Crypto stocks bounced back on June 7 as both President Donald Trump and Tesla (Nasdaq: TSLA) boss Elon Musk retreated from their big, ugly feud from the previous day. Strategy (Nasdaq: MSTR), which had dipped around 6% yesterday, was trading at $375.01 at press time, up 1.69% a day. Helmed by Michael Saylor, the company is the largest public Bitcoin treasury company. The largest U.S. crypto exchange Coinbase (Nasdaq: COIN) had slipped as much as 10% the day before. The stock, which made it to the much-coveted spot on the S&P 500 in May, was trading at $254.31, up 4% a day. The crypto and stock trading exchange Robinhood (Nasdaq: HOOD) dipped around 8% on the day of the feud. It was trading at $76.24, up 5% a day. The story of Bitcoin miners was no different as the two men engaged in a heated public exchange over social media and press briefings on June 6. MARA Holdings (MARA) fell as much as 7% yesterday but was trading at $15.93, up 7.02% a day. Hut 8 Group (HUT) had similarly slipped by 7% the day before but rallied an impressive 14.83% to trade at $18.74. HIVE Digital (Nasdaq: HIVE) had slid around 9% yesterday and made the same recovery of 9% today to trade at $2.0042. Bitdeer (Nasdaq: BTDR) had also slipped 9% and successfully recovered by 11% to trade at $14.07 today. Notably, the stablecoin issuer Circle Internet Group (NYSE: CRCL) made an impressive debut on the day of the feud. CRCL was trading at $116.07 at press time, up 40% a day. Musk, who quit the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) by the end of May, has been criticizing Trump's "big, beautiful bill" since then. The disagreement escalated into an ugly public exchange the previous day that shook the markets. Ukraine hopes for Trump-Zelensky meeting in Canada during G7
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy intends to hold a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump during the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Canada, Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak said on air on June 6. The summit is scheduled to take place from June 15 to 17 in Kananaskis, Alberta. Yermak said the Ukrainian delegation's recent trip to Washington was aimed in part at arranging the high-level meeting between Zelensky and Trump. The Ukrainian delegation, led by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko, arrived in the U.S. on the morning of June 3. The delegation included senior officials from the Defense Ministry and the Presidential Office. During their visit, the Ukrainian officials are expected to engage with American counterparts on a wide range of critical issues, including ongoing negotiations in Istanbul, sanctions policy against Russia, and continued support for Ukraine amid Russia's full-scale war. Following the latest round of peace talks between Ukraine and Russia on June 2, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan suggested that Turkey plans to facilitate a meeting between the leaders of Russia and Ukraine in either Ankara or Istanbul. Speaking to reporters on the same day, Zelensky expressed readiness to take part in such talks. "I had a conversation with President Erdoğan of Turkey. And indeed, he sent a signal, asking how I would feel about a meeting of four leaders: himself, the President of the United States, Putin, and me. I told him that I support a meeting at the level of leaders, because I have the impression that there will be no ceasefire without our meeting," Zelensky said during an online press conference attended by the Kyiv Independent.
