Croskey's 30 lead No. 2 South Carolina State over No. 6 North Carolina Central in MEAC semi, 88-67
NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Omar Croskey's 30 points led No. 2-seed South Carolina State past No. 6-seed North Carolina Central 88-67 on Friday in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals.
South Carolina State will battle top-seeded Norfolk State in Saturday's conference championship game.
Croskey had five rebounds for the Bulldogs (20-12). Davion Everett scored 16 points, shooting 7 of 11 from the field and 2 for 3 from the line. Colin McKenzie went 4 of 5 from the field (4 for 4 from 3-point range) to finish with 14 points. The Bulldogs picked up their ninth straight victory.
Perry Smith Jr. led the Eagles (14-19) in scoring, finishing with 20 points and nine rebounds. North Carolina Central also got 18 points and two steals from Po'Boigh King. Keishon Porter also recorded 11 points and three steals.
South Carolina State took the lead with 18:29 remaining in the first half and did not relinquish it. Croskey led his team in scoring with 19 points in the first half to help put them up 54-25 at the break. South Carolina State was outscored by North Carolina Central in the second half by eight points, with Croskey scoring a team-high 11 points after the break.

Georgia WR announces NFL retirement to pursue new career Former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Chris Conley has chosen to hang up the cleats. The 10-year NFL veteran is retiring to pursue a career in filmography, he posted on his Instagram. Conley started by saying, "When I was a kid I wrote down a set of goals. On that list was 'Play 10 years in the NFL.' Now that this goal has been accomplished, it's time to set sights on something new." He will be attending film school at his alma mater Georgia. Conley was a four-star wide receiver coming out of high school when Georgia recruited him in 2011. Conley played four seasons at Georgia, becoming on of Aaron Murray's most dependable targets. Through 49 games at UGA, he racked up 1,938 yards and 20 touchdowns. He was a part of the Bulldogs' 2012 SEC championship, but unfortunately, he's infamous for catching the pass on Georgia's final play five yards away from the end zone. The Bulldogs lost to Alabama 32-28. At the NFL combine, he put on a show, running a 4.35 and vertical jumping 45 inches. In the 2015 NFL draft, The Kansas City Chiefs selected him in the third round. In the NFL, Conley had stops with the Kansas City Chiefs, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans, and San Francisco 49ers. Through 10 years, he had 2,998 yards and 15 touchdowns on 226 receptions. With San Francisco, he played in Super Bowl 58, although he wasn't able to win it against Kansas City, but he made some outstanding plays on special teams. "The past 10 years have been a dream," Conley wrote. "Getting the opportunity to play in the league was an honor and whether it was catching touchdowns or blocking for them, I truly gave it my all."

Galvin ends month of headlines with try in Bulldogs win
Lachlan Galvin has announced his Canterbury arrival by scoring a try and taking over as halfback, helping the Bulldogs stay top of the NRL in a 30-12 win over Parramatta. After a fortnight of speculation around his playing position, Galvin was forced to wait 57 minutes before entering the field against the Eels on Monday. When the teenage recruit did come on, he did so at half, with off-contract No.7 Toby Sexton shifting to hooker, in the surest sign yet of the Bulldogs' long-term plan. Galvin responded by being heavily involved in Canterbury's attack, and linking with five-eighth Matt Burton in the lead up to a Viliame Kikau try to put the Bulldogs up 18-12. And, after Harry Hayes crossed to make it 24-12, Galvin capped his arrival in the No.23 jersey by scoring his first try in Bulldogs colours to seal the match. The 19-year-old's name was chanted before he even entered the field and he earned a standing ovation as he ran on and again with each of his first touches. And the roar was enormous when he crossed late in the match, 10 days after officially putting pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year deal with the Bulldogs. Notable too was how impressive Sexton's kicking game was for Canterbury before Galvin came on. The Bulldogs' regular halfback also entered Monday under intense scrutiny, given he is off-contract and seemingly unlikely to now be re-signed. Canterbury were able to dominate field position for the majority of the match, only for Parramatta's resolute defence to keep them in the contest. Burton scored early for the Bulldogs when he picked off a Ryley Smith pass from a scrum and went 60 metres to score. But the Eels returned the favour moments later when Zac Lomax intercepted a Burton pass and put Mitch Moses into space to score a 90-metre try. The Bulldogs took a 12-6 lead back when Burton went to the shortside in the 20th minute and sent Marcelo Montoya over. However the match swung again when Viliame Kikau was sin-binned for dagerous contact on a kicking Moses just before halftime and the Eels levelled the score on the next set. Canterbury went 14-12 clear when Moses was penalised for a high shot in the 50th minute, before the Bulldogs ran away with it late with Galvin the centre of attention.
