Official: Changes aplenty as Barcelona name XI to face Osasuna

Yahoo08-03-2025

The XI of players selected by Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick to face Osasuna this evening has been unveiled online.
And it features a whole host of changes.
Barcelona are of course primed to return to action in short order, when they welcome the aforementioned Osasuna to Catalunya's capital for a La Liga clash.
The fixture comes sandwiched between a pair of crunch Champions League clashes with Benfica, the 2nd of which is set to play out on Tuesday.
In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear of Hansi Flick opting to ring the changes in his latest line-up.
Stepping back into starting roles to face Osasuna are all of Eric García, Gerard Martín, Marc Casadó, Gavi and Ferran Torres.
As much means much-needed rest for the likes of Alejandro Balde, Pedri and Robert Lewandowski.

Marcus Rashford prepared to make sacrifice to join Barcelona this summer

Barcelona will seek to sign a new winger this summer, and among their options is Manchester United's Marcus Rashford. The England international is set for a return to Old Trafford this summer, with Aston Villa set to forego paying the buy clause in the loan agreement with their Premier League rivals. Rashford has had a difficult couple of years at Man United, having struggled to come close to his best. It had been hoped that a change of scenery would be the catalyst for him to improve his form, but it was not the case. But that could happen if he leaves England altogether. Advertisement And that is what Barcelona are hoping will happen. They have Luis Diaz as their first-choice left winger target, but Rashford is not far behind. And the Man United man is said to be determined to push through a move to the La Liga champions. Marcus Rashford prioritises Barcelona, willing to slash wages Image via Reuters Marca have reported that Rashford is prioritising a move to Barcelona this summer, as was the case during the winter transfer window before a deal was ruled to be impossible. Equally, it will be difficult again for the Catalans to get a move over the line because of their well-documented financial woes, but the player is prepared to help in that regard. Advertisement As per Luis Rojo (via Stretty News), Rashford is prepared to take a significant wage cut in order for Barcelona to be able to afford signing him. This will undoubtedly make things easier, given that the club's salary cap is much lower than usual because of their financial problems. It will be interesting to see whether Barcelona can get a deal done for Rashford. He would be an excellent addition to Hansi Flick's squad, and with talks having already been held with his representatives, there is a good chance that something happens over the summer.

Simone Inzaghi signs to coach Saudi club Al-Hilal after leaving Inter Milan

Associated Press RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — Simone Inzaghi took over as head coach of Al-Hilal on Wednesday, a day after leaving Inter Milan and two weeks before the Saudi Arabian club's first game at the Club World Cup. Inzaghi signed a two-year deal after Al-Hilal lured him with an offer of reportedly more than 20 million euros ($23 million) per season. 'The Italian genius is here,' the Saudi club said in a social media post. Inter was routed 5-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final last Saturday, marking the most lopsided defeat in the 70-year history of major European finals. The 49-year-old Inzaghi coached Inter to the Serie A title last year and was also in charge when the Nerazzurri lost the 2023 Champions League title to Manchester City.
