Middle East welcomes Arenacross World Tour

Abu Dhabi is set to reinforce the Middle East's growing reputation as a global hub for world-class sporting events when it hosts the high-octane Arenacross World Tour Finals at Etihad Arena on July 5th.
Bringing together the world's best indoor motocross and freestyle riders, the championship showdown will showcase the Middle East's ability to stage large-scale, international motorsport spectacles that combine extreme sports, entertainment, and fan engagement.
Leading the line-up is Scotland's Dean Wilson, a former AMA motocross champion and the current Arenacross front-runner. Joining him will be British star Tommy Searle, French champion Cedric Soubeyras, 2024 Arenacross title-holder Jack Brunell, and other elite riders from Europe and beyond, all vying for glory in Abu Dhabi.
The Arenacross Finals offer more than just racing, with three hours of breathtaking action featuring freestyle motocross stunts, pyrotechnics, live music, and a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere. Spectators will also have access to exclusive trackside experiences, athlete meet-and-greets, and a behind-the-scenes Track Walk.

Tuchel blasts England's attitude
Thomas Tuchel slammed England's attitude and accused them of a lack of 'seriousness' during Saturday's lacklustre 1-0 win against minnows Andorra. Tuchel's side were booed at the final whistle in Barcelona after Harry Kane's 50th minute tap-in saved England from a humiliating draw with a team ranked 173rd in the world. Although England have won all three of their World Cup qualifiers since Tuchel took charge, they have struggled to fulfil the German's desire for a more attacking style of play. Their laboured efforts against Andorra infuriated Tuchel, who saw alarming signs that his players threw in the towel in the closing stages. 'I didn't like the attitude how we ended the game,' he said. 'I liked the attitude how we started the game, the first 25 minutes, but I didn't like the last 25 minutes, the last half an hour. 'I think we lacked the seriousness and the urgency that is needed in a World Cup qualifier. 'We played with fire and I didn't like the attitude in the end. I didn't like the body language and I think it was not what the occasion needed.' England sit top of Group K as they progress towards next year's World Cup, yet they will need to improve signficantly to make an impact in the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Tuchel was relieved to secure the victory after Andorra pushed for a late leveller, but he conceded his team had played with a lack of energy. 'In the end we played with fire, honestly. I felt it almost like in a cup game where the favourite does not smell the danger,' he said. 'I didn't feel a team that is aware it's only 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier because we were not happy with ourselves. 'I'm not blaming them. I even feel like they felt 'OK, we're not happy and this is stuck today, it will not happen today'. 'Step by step the energy dropped. We needed exactly the opposite but we couldn't deliver and so we got away with a win.' 'The booing is ok' Tuchel had admitted before the game that it might be hard to crush Andorra by a huge margin because his players were tired after a draining domestic campaign. Nine of England's squad will jet off to the Club World Cup after Tuesday's friendly against Senegal in Nottingham. First, Tuchel will demand a more positive performance at the City Ground next week. 'We will not stop to encourage them and make clear after we have a proper look at the match what we want from them,' he said. England supporters made up the majority of the crowd at the RCDE Stadium and their displeasure was audible throughout a limp game that felt more like a pre-season friendly. Tuchel could not blame them for expressing their frustration, with jeers for the team mixed with abusive songs about British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. 'The booing is OK.' 'They were underwhelmed and not happy with our performance, especially how we ended the first half, so I don't think we can blame them for that,' he said. 'We cannot even blame them how we ended the match. In the opposite. I thought they were fantastic throughout the whole match. 'I did not hear anything about what you said about abusive songs or chants (about the Prime Minister), so if it happens of course it's not acceptable but I didn't hear it.'

Mbappe sends France past Germany to claim Nations League bronze
AFP | Paris Kylian Mbappe bagged a goal and an assist as France beat Germany 2-0 in the Nations League bronze-medal match in Stuttgart yesterday. Mbappe wove his magic in a heavily changed France squad. Germany dominated the opening half but Mbappe provided the breakthrough just before half-time, carving a shot through a crowded penalty box to bring up his 50th goal in France colours. Late in the second, with the hosts desperately looking for an equaliser, Mbappe snatched a poor Germany pass on the half-way line and rampaged forward, before setting up Michael Olise. The French showed their incredible depth, while Mbappe again demonstrated his finishing and pace. For Germany, who lost two straight straight matches for the first time since 2023, questions remain over how much they have truly improved under Julian Nagelsmann. In the lead-up to yesterday's encounter, France coach Didier Deschamps admitted the Nations League clash with old rivals Germany 'isn't the most important game for us,' with a clear focus on next year's World Cup. Deschamps made eight changes from the semi-final loss to Spain, with only captain Mbappe, goalie Mike Maignan and midfield veteran Adrien Rabiot keeping their starting spots. Nagelsmann also rotated heavily, making four changes including bringing striker Niclas Fuellkrug back into the starting XI.

Bhavans - Bahrain Indian School wins laurels at Middle East French recitation contest
Bhavans- Bahrain Indian School (BIS) proudly celebrates a remarkable achievement at the BME French Poetica 2025, organized by Indian Educational School, Bhavans, Kuwait on Saturday, 31st May 2025,via Online platform. The event saw enthusiastic participation from Bhavans schools across the GCC Region, showcasing students' flair and finesse in French Poetry Recitation. The competition witnessed participation from various Bhavans schools across the Middle East, including institutions from Kuwait, UAE (Al Ain, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Dubai), and the Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by Bahrain Indian School. Participants were evaluated on a well-rounded set of criteria, including clear pronunciation (50%), effective intonation and voice modulation (30%), and confident memorization with fluent delivery (20%). These standards ensured a fair and comprehensive assessment of each student's recitation skills. The recitations, evaluated by a panel of two professional judges, were conducted online and brought out the best in young talents from across the Middle East. Bahrain Indian School emerged with flying colours, with two students earning top accolades: Olive Maria George, Grade 6, secured First Prize in Category 1 and Mishal Imtiaz, Grade 10, bagged First Prize in Category 2 Their performances stood out for their eloquence, emotion, and confidence in delivering French poetry with remarkable precision and grace. The Directors Himanshu Verma and Ritu Verma, and Principal of Bahrain Indian School Saji Jacob congratulated both the winners.
