AUSTIN, Texas — Genesis Bryant scored 17 points and No. 8 Illinois earned its first NCAA Tournament victory in 25 years Saturday night with a 66-57 win over No. 9 Creighton.
Illinois' tough defense frustrated Creighton's outside shooters as the Illini also dominated on the boards. Kendall Bostic added 12 points and 17 rebounds for Illinois (22-9), which advances to the second round on Monday against the winner of No. 1 Texas (31-3) against No. 16 William & Mary.

Peoria Steamboat Classic to host their 51st race kicking off Father's Day weekend
PEORIA, Ill (WMBD) — Peoria's Steamboat Classic, one of the world's fastest four-mile races, returns to Peoria for its 51st year. Runners have been picking up their packets, shirts and bibs on Thursday and Friday, preparing for the event happening this Saturday, Father's Day weekend. 'It's a great way to kick off Father's Day weekend,' said Brad Penz, co-owner of Shazam Racing. 'This is a huge deal to bring the community together just for the, you know, being healthy, being active, doing something.' This year's event is their most ambitious event yet, with the addition of a few championship races for the first time. This addition is expected to bring in some bigger names in running. 'We do have, for the first time ever, the USATF 4-mile championships. So, some potential Olympians will be racing, men and women, for the US championships for four miles,' Penz said. Steamboat wanted to do something bigger for this year's race, building hype for the event all year round. 'We needed to try to do something new and so the year-round presence was just something that hadn't been done before,' he said. 'It helps really build the traction of what's happening and build the momentum into the event and then keeping that going after the event's over as well.' This year's race is expected to have around 2,500 people racing, with around 1,500 coming to support the racers. The event will conclude with a post-race party taking place at the finish line of the race, with an awards ceremony following that. Chicago Bears Rookies Attend Cubs Game At Wrigley Field
The Chicago Bears 2025 rookie class were honored guests at Wrigley Field on Friday afternoon. Ozzy Trapilo, Chicago's second round OL pick from Boston College, had the privelege of throwing out the first pitch before the Chicago Cubs took on the Pittsburgh Pirates. Advertisement It wasn't just the Bears' drafted players who were in attendance. The team's undrafted free agent signings from this spring were also part of the outing. Unfortunately, the team didn't witness a win as the Cubs fell to the Pirates in extra innings. This wasn't the first time this season that some of the new faces that will represent the 2025 Bears were in attendance at Wrigley Field. Head Coach Ben Johnson threw out the first pitch back on April 19th. Johnson spoke of his love for the Cubs and Wrigley Field when he was hired, noting that his family made yearly trips to Chicago to take in games after his brother became a season ticket holder. The Sky's last lead came when they beat Dallas, 94-83, on May 31. The good news for Chicago was that, heading into halftime in Atlanta, despite a late push from the Dream, the Sky still held the lead, 39-38, behind eight points each from frontcourt sophomores Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese.
