Aston Martin DBX S Breaks Cover With More Powerful V8
The Aston Martin DBX was launched as the brand's first SUV in 2021. At the time, the SUV had two versions, among which the base variant had a 542 hp output. However, this iteration of the SUV was dropped last year, leaving the DBX 707 as the only option. Now, pushing things up a notch, the automaker has launched an even more power-packed version of the vehicle called the DBX S.
The Aston Martin DBX S houses the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with a plug-in hybrid system. To squeeze out more power from the unit, the brand has now added turbochargers with a larger compressor wheel. This adds 20 extra ponies, resulting in 717 hp of power. Using this power, the SUV can accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in 3.3 seconds. Meanwhile, the top speed is the same as the other iteration of the SUV, limited to 310 kmph. With this, the SUV is only second to the Lamborghini Urus SE in terms of performance.

Mechanically, a few things remain the same. The SUV continues to have an all-wheel-drive system with 50 percent torque reserved for the front wheels, while up to 100 percent can be utilised by the rear wheels. Additionally, it uses the same nine-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the exhaust system has changed to an exhaust note.
Contributing to performance is the reduced weight of the car. However, these come in the form of optional elements. Specifically, the car now gets a carbon-fiber roof, which is now the largest carbon-fiber piece fitted to an Aston Martin. Furthermore, the car can have 23-inch magnesium wheels, which save 19 kg when compared to the 23-inch forged aluminium wheels. There will also be an option of a polycarbonate grille.
To give it a distinguishable identity, the Aston Martin DBX S gets a black grille black, and the front bumper has a new splitter paired with revised side sills with a prominent S badge on the front fender. At the rear end, the bumper and diffuser have been redesigned to give space for the vertically stacked quad exhaust pipes. The buyers have an option to have Rosso Corsa Red, Trophy Silver, or Podium Green exterior accents.
On the inside, there are new seats with a herringbone design that can be used on the headliner as well. The cabin is upholstered in Alcantara, while the seats also include semi-aniline leather, which can be used to replace the Alcantara in the cabin. To signify its uniqueness, it has an 'S' logo embroidered on the seats, sill plates, and engine plaque. Uplifting the feel of the cabin is a 14-speaker sound system, which can be upgraded to a 23-speaker Bowers & Wilkins system.

'I think it was just getting too much': Aston Martin official gives Lance Stroll injury update, reveals Plan B
Image credit: Lance Stroll/Instagram Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll was missing from the Spanish Grand Prix final last weekend, where his teammate Fernando Alonso took ninth position with two points. He was dealing with pain in his hand and wrist after the Qualifying race in Spain, as a result of which Aston Martin had only one driver take part in the final race the next day. Now, more details of his hand condition and Aston Martin's Plan B have been revealed. What happened to Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll Aston Martin's Chief Trackside Officer, Mike Krack, told about Lance Stroll's health status and whether he will be able to take part in his home race, the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal. Stroll is reportedly dealing with pain in his hand and wrist, which has a connection with the fractures he suffered in the 2023 cycling accident and the surgery he underwent for the same. Krack said about Stroll, 'We have seen it with Lance in 2023, when he fought his way back, they [the drivers] want to drive, they do not want to be out. Very often I think they drive with probably more pain than they would even admit, to be able to drive, because this is what they love to do. Over the last weeks, there was a mention here and there, but you are never aware how much it is, and over the weekend, I think it was just getting too much. " Further explaining how Stroll got the problem checked before the final race in Spain, he said, 'I think at the end of the day, on Saturday after Qualifying, Lance and his team decided it was better to go and check, go and check again, and the recommendation was better not to race.' In case Stroll is unable to return, the team has reserve drivers Felipe Drugovich and Stoffel Vandoorne on standby. But there is a problem — the two are taking part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which is scheduled around the same time as the Canadian Grand Prix. Whether either of them will be asked to give up on that race for the F1 race remains to be seen.

Fernando Alonso to be only Aston Martin car in Spanish GP
Barcelona: Aston Martin have confirmed that Lance Stroll will miss the Spanish Grand Prix as the Canadian is scheduled to undergo a medical procedure following pain in his hand and wrist. Stroll took part in Qualifying at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Saturday and finished 14th but the team announced a few hours later that he will sit out the rest of the weekend. A statement released by Aston Martin read, 'Over the course of the past six weeks Lance has been experiencing pain in his hand and wrist, which his medical consultant believes is in relation to the procedure he underwent in 2023. As a result his medical team have confirmed that he will not race tomorrow and he will undergo a procedure to rectify these issues before focusing on his recovery.' Stroll suffered fractures and a broken toe in a cycling accident during the 2023 pre-season, which required surgery and a period of rehabilitation. Despite initial doubts from his medical team about whether he could compete in the early races, he made a successful return for the season opener in Bahrain, finishing an impressive sixth. Ahead of the 2024 season, Stroll revealed that he had adopted a more cautious approach to his training routine. Now in his seventh season with Aston Martin - having joined the team in 2019 when it was still operating as Racing Point - the 26-year-old currently holds 11th place in the Drivers' Championship with 14 points. His results have helped place the British team eighth in the Constructors' standings, while teammate Fernando Alonso, yet to score points this season, is set to start Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix from 10th on the grid. Due to the sporting regulations, Fernando will be their only car competing in the race.
