Agoda Partners with Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer to Raise Breast Cancer Awareness
BANGKOK, June 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital travel platform Agoda organized a charity run aimed at promoting breast cancer awareness and raising funds for essential research and treatment programs.
Held in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer (QSCBC) Foundation, the event took place on Sunday, June 8, at Palm Garden in Lumphini Park, Bangkok. Agoda will contribute all charitable donations raised during the run to the Foundation's health initiatives aimed at innovative treatments, educational campaigns and early detection programs, and more.
The event drew more than 200 Agoda employees including members of the company's senior leadership team. The charity run reinforced Agoda's commitment to deliver meaningful social impact programs aimed at preserving and enhancing the communities where its employees work and live, while encouraging them to engage directly with causes that resonate with them.

Agoda pledged a minimum donation towards the foundation of THB 100,000, with additional voluntary contributions from participants using Quick Response (QR) codes placed around the venue. Proceeds will support innovative treatments for advanced-stage breast cancer patients and those unresponsive to conventional therapies, research on white blood cell-based immunotherapy, as well as educational campaigns and early detection programs.

Thai Group Onyx Hospitality Plans Property REIT Launch
International arrivals to Vietnam in the first five months of 2025 rose 21.3% to more than 9.2 million. In May alone, international visitation was up 10.5% to 1.53 million. China maintained the top position in the first five months with 2.36 million arrivals, followed by South Korea with over 1.9 million. The Chinese market was up 47.2%. Onyx Hospitality Group said they are planning to launch Onyx Leasehold Real Estate Investment Trust, combining four properties worth 6.5 billion baht within this year. They are aiming to double their value to 15 billion baht within five years. The funds raised under ONYXRT will be used to help accelerate hotel expansion in Thailand and Asia, as well as for debt repayment. The first properties listed in the REIT in the first phase will be the 564-room Amari Bangkok, the 339-room Amari Pattaya, the 406-room Ozo Pattaya, and the 255-room Ozo Phuket. The REIT is anticipated to generate a 9% yield. While Thailand's visitor arrivals have not met expectations so far this year, Onyx still believes the number of Chinese arrivals this year will exceed the Tourism Authority of Thailand's minimum estimate of 5 million and continue to improve through next year. Onyx said the sluggish real estate market has Thailand real estate developers asking them to manage their new condo buildings in Bangkok, which remain unsold, in order to turn them into serviced apartments. New projects have around 5 billion baht earmarked for them, including 700 million baht for Ozo Bangkok, located next to Amari Bangkok; 700 million baht for Shama Pattaya; and 2.5 billion baht for EQ Phuket, a joint venture with Malaysia's Equatorial Group. Other projects include new properties in Phuket and Samui. Marriott International's Westin Hotels & Resorts brand announced the opening of The Westin Nirup Island Resort & Spa, Batam, on Nirup Island. The wellness-focused sanctuary spans the entire private island and features 94 guest rooms and suites, 52 private villas, all offering expansive balconies, outdoor spaces, or terraces. There is a collection of distinctive dining experiences, the Heavenly Spa by Westin, WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio, meeting and wedding spaces, including a 450-square-meter ballroom, and options for outdoor recreational activities. Singapore's Frasers Hospitality and UK-based lifestyle hotel chain Yotel announced the official opening of the 244-room Yotel Tokyo Ginza. This is the first time the two brands have teamed up, and this is Yotel's debut in the Japanese market, while for Frasers, this is their maiden ground-up investment and development project in the country. Frasers acquired the land and oversaw the construction before handing over the operations to Yotel. The 14-story boutique hotel offers compact 'cabins' of between 14 square meters and 18 square meters in size, as well as family units comprising two connecting rooms. The hotel is strategically positioned near the Shimbashi district and the Shiodome business district. Frasers Hospitality also announced the expansion of its Modena by Fraser brand presence with two new property openings in Mainland China. This is Dusit's eighth property in China and its first in Sichuan Province. The hotel features 241 guest rooms and seven private luxury villas. Amenities include an all-day dining restaurant, Harvest, a barbeque restaurant, The View, a refined Chinese restaurant, a lobby lounge, an indoor swimming pool, a gym, mahjong rooms, a kids' club, and a conference hall with three versatile meeting rooms. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has officially debuted in Bangladesh with the opening of Ramada by Wyndham Cox's Bazar Kolatoli Beach. This is Wyndham's first hotel in the South Asian country, partnering with Hotel Ibis Ltd. on the hotel. The midscale hotel features 143 modern rooms across 11 floors. The expansion is part of OYO's ongoing strategy to broaden its premium property footprint worldwide, following launches of SUNDAY Hotels in India, Saudi Arabia, the UK, and Dubai. IHG Hotels & Resorts said they signed a management agreement with Atithi Gokul Hotel Inns Pvt Ltd, part of AG Group, Ahmedabad, to develop a new hotel, the Holiday Inn Ahmedabad. The hotel is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2028 and reflects IHG's strategy to expand its presence in high-potential markets across India.
