Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala, the former Miss SA who has taken on a pivotal role at Miss Supranational, amid the Miss South Africa organisation's bold decision regarding the upcoming competition.
Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala, former Miss South Africa 2010, is embracing an exciting new chapter in her career as she steps into the role of National Director of Miss Supranational South Africa.
Montjane-Tshabalala detailed that this role presents an opportunity to further her commitment to empowering women, particularly those from disadvantaged and rural communities.
In a heartfelt statement, Montjane-Tshabalala shared her passion for female empowerment, stressing the importance of creating platforms that inspire and unlock the potential of young girls across South Africa.
'As Miss South Africa 2010, I've spent over a decade advocating for the empowerment of women, especially young women from disadvantaged and rural communities. My life's work has been rooted in creating platforms that inspire, uplift, and unlock the full potential of the South African girl child,' she noted. 'I believe that pageantry, when rooted in purpose, can be a powerful tool for transformation.'
She spoke of her new role as a 'full-circle moment' in her career, highlighting the significant strides the Miss Supranational organisation has made in South Africa.
'The Miss Supranational organisation has built a strong and inspiring track record in this country, producing women who represent not just beauty and grace, but purpose, strength, and vision. I am thrilled to be part of a global brand that celebrates these values and to have the opportunity to continue building its legacy in our country,' Montjane-Tshabalala said.
Meanwhile, the Miss South Africa organisation has also clarified its position regarding participation in the forthcoming Miss Supranational 2025 competition. In an announcement, they confirmed that they will not be renewing their licence for the event and will not be sending a representative to the competition scheduled for June in Poland.
'With heartfelt gratitude to our incredible fans, we share that Miss South Africa will not participate in the Miss Supranational 2025 competition. We deeply value the memories and connections tied to this event. We wish the Miss Supranational Organisation a spectacular event,' they stated.
The organisation addressed ongoing rumours, clarifying that the decision not to participate is strictly an organisational one and not attributed to current Miss South Africa 2024, Mia le Roux, or runner-up, Nompumelelo Maduna.
'We note the fake news circulating and confirm that this decision was made solely by the Organisation,' they added.
