New Delhi, Jun 6 (PTI) A Delhi court on Friday extended the judicial custody of 26/11 Mumbai attack accused Tahawwur Hussain Rana till July 9.
Rana, a close associate of 26/11 main conspirator David Coleman Headley alias Daood Gilani, a US citizen, was brought to India after the US Supreme Court on April 4 dismissed his review plea against his extradition to India.
The court sent him to judicial custody last month.
On November 26, 2008, a group of 10 Pakistani terrorists went on a rampage, carrying out a coordinated attack on a railway station, two luxury hotels and a Jewish centre, after they sneaked into India's financial capital using the sea route.

RANCHI: A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man after he lured her with a mango in a marriage reception in Jharkhand's Ranchi district, police said on Saturday. The incident occurred during a marriage reception at a village in Chanho, about 50 km from the state's capital Ranchi, on Friday evening, and the 25-year-old accused was arrested after he was beaten up by locals, a police officer said. A preliminary investigation revealed that the man was in an inebriated condition when he committed the crime, he said. "The medical examination of the victim was conducted last night. The accused has been arrested and he will be produced before the court of the judicial magistrate here on Saturday," Chanho Police Station in-charge Chandan Kumar Gupta told PTI. An FIR had been registered, and the accused was booked under the POCSO Act, the officer said. "The victim and the accused are residents of the same village. The man went to a marriage reception in the village on Friday. He lured the girl with a mango and took her to a garden nearby. The accused raped the minor there," Gupta said quoting the statement of the victim's family. After the incident, the villagers beat up the accused, who was rescued by the police later, another official said.

Following the notice, BBMP was flooded with objections against the RLDA officials informed that the project is to ensure a source of revenue for Karnataka Rail Infrastructure Development Company Limited (K-RIDE). The agency stated that the Bengaluru suburban rail project was approved by the Railway Board with a total cost of Rs 15,767 crore, with a completion period of 6 years. While 20% of this cost is borne by the State government and 20% by the Centre, the remaining 60% is through per RLDA, out of the Railway share of Rs 2,479 crore (20%), Rs 500 crore is through budgetary support and the remaining through the returns of monetisation of land parcels identified in the project tree activists say, after the stormy public consultation held on May 20, RLDA should withdraw the proposal and consider establishing the project at an alternate site.'The railway should respect people's opinions and look for an alternative location. The 272-km Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project, which was started in 1997, took almost 28 years to become operational. Its first 55 km long section between Jammu and Udhampur was completed in April 2005. According to Northern Railways, the whole project was completed and operationalised in multiple phases, with the last one being inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (June 7, 2025). After opening the Jammu-Udhampur section, the then UPA government focused on sections in Kashmir and operationalised the 68 km long Anantnag-Mazhom rail link in October 2008. "Then came a 32 km long Mazhom - Baramulla rail link on which train services started in February 2009. So by 2009, locals availed train journey from the last point of the USBRL project, ie, Baramulla to Anantnag," a Northern Railway official said. He added, "Since work was going on simultaneously on other sections, Railways was able to extend the train service from Anantnag to Quazigund towards Jammu side by October end in 2009." The Railways achieved another significant milestone when it further extended the train services from Quazigund to Banihal in June 2013, which involved the construction of an 11.215 km long Pir Panjal tunnel. "Almost a year later, in July 2014, the Udhampur-Katra line from the Jammu side was made operational," the official said. Banihal to Katra connectivity According to a railway source, "When the Modi government came to power, the rail services were operational from Baramulla to Banihal in Kashmir side and Katra to Jammu on the other side.
