Burrows keen for another crack at Los Angeles with Anmaat
The seven-year-old – who got the better of Calandagan to scoop top honours at the Berkshire venue last October – was beaten half a length by Aidan O'Brien's Irish Derby winner at the Curragh last weekend in a high-class renewal of the Group One event which had Andrew Balding's Kalpana back in third.
However, the victor held a vital fitness edge over the returning Anmaat, something Burrows felt told in the closing stages.
'I was really thrilled with him, it was just the lack of a run that told in that last 50 yards,' said Burrows.
'That was our concern heading into the race and he had been away for a racecourse gallop, but I haven't really galloped any of mine on the grass this spring and it's been a bit of a nightmare to be honest – but that's not making any excuses.'
The Shadwell-owned gelding will now return to the scene of his finest hour finest hour for a shot at the Prince of Wales's Stakes, where Burrows is relishing a second clash of the season with Anmaat's Curragh conqueror.
'I think he will take a nice step forward from that and as long as the ground is not rattling fast the plan would be to go to Royal Ascot for the Prince of Wales's Stakes,' continued Burrows.
'He likes it at Ascot and you can even make a case that the extra half a furlong in the Tattersalls Gold Cup was just that touch too far for him, but that's the way it goes and we'll look forward to a rematch with Los Angeles at Ascot.'

Papa John's is making a popular limited-time menu item named after basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal a permanent offering. The fittingly extra-large pizza, dubbed the Shaq-a-Roni, is cut into eight foldable, shareable slices. The restaurant launched it in 2020. The 7-foot-1 NBA Hall-of-Famer O'Neal owns nine Papa John's restaurants as a franchisee. He also serves as a brand ambassador for the restaurant and is on the company's board of directors. Dodgers recall LHP Justin Wrobleski amid staff injury crush
June 6 - The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled left-hander Justin Wrobleski to start in Friday's series opener on the road against the St. Louis Cardinals.
