Gangland shooting in Spain took place at bar 'owned by' Lyons crime clan hood Ross Monaghan

Two men, believed to be Scottish, were gunned down in front of horrified tourists at Monaghans, in Fuengirola in the Costa Del Sol last night. A horror gangland shooting in Spain took place at a bar owned by Lyons crime clan hood Ross Monaghan. Two men, understood to be Scots, were gunned down in front of horrified tourists at Monaghans, in Fuengirola in the Costa Del Sol last night. The slaying took place just moments after the end of the Champions League final as punters enjoyed sat at the bar enjoying a drink. A masked man is said to have entered the bar before feeling the scene in a getaway vehicle. The Record can now reveal that the bar is owned by Ross Monaghan, a member of the notorious Lyons Glasgow crime family. Monaghan, who fled Scotland in 2017, to head for the Costa Del Sol is listed as the proprietor of the bar in an online business directory for the bar which looks onto the promenade of the popular holiday resort. The gangland figure touched town in Malaga in January 2017 after he was shot twice in a gun attack outside a primary school in Glasgow. Monaghan was reportedly shot twice by a gunman lurking outside St George's Primary, Penilee. Monaghan was cleared of the murder of notorious Glasgow hood Kevin 'Gerbil' Carroll, who was shot dead in a brutal gangland assassination in Asda Robroyston carpark in 2010. Monaghan was tried for the killing, but was acquitted in May 2012 after it emerged there was no evidence which placed him at the Asda store at the time of the shooting. He was also cleared of attempting to defeat the ends of justice by disposing of the two guns used in the shooting and torching the getaway car. In August 2017 Monaghan was further cleared of being involved in a brutal street attack on three men outside the Campsie bar in Bishopbriggs. The brutal ambush left one of the victim's ears hanging off. However Monaghan walked free after prosecutors withdrew the charges against him and three others following two days of evidence. The Record understands that the horror shooting in Spain are related to the ongoing gang wars in Scotland. Grisly pictures from the scene of last night's gun attack, which occurred around 11.30pm, show a man lying lifeless on his back in shorts an a T-shirt by a drinks and meal men blackboard on an outside terrace at the Irish bar. In other disturbing images police and paramedics can be seen surrounding the body of one of the victims, thought to be the same man, after he was covered under a blanket as shocked locals and holidaymakers looked on. There are no reports yet of any arrests, although police set up roadblocks in the area after the shooting to try to catch those responsible. ‌ The nationalities of the two people killed has not yet been made public, although local media are saying neither is Spanish. A spokesman for the National Police in Malaga, in the force's first official comment on the incident, said this morning: 'Around midnight an incident with firearms occurred in Fuengirola, specifically at an entertainment venue along the seafront. 'Two males died as a result from gunshot wounds. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made so far.' ‌ Despite police sources initially describing the two men killed as Irish and saying one was 41, Spain's National Police subsequently confirmed both were Scottish. Earlier the government's sub-delegate in Malaga Javier Salas also said they were both Scottish. He said the first victim was shot in the chest and the second in the chest and abdomen. They are understood to have been shot near the entrance door to Monaghans Fuengirola by a masked gunman who got out of a car that screeched to a halt outside the bar before fleeing in the same vehicle driven by an accomplice.
