ODOT worker involved in crash twice in 2 months
An Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) worker was involved in a crash twice in less than two months.

As previously reported by News Center 7, the latest crash happened Wednesday on Interstate 90 in Cuyahoga County.
Christian Nixon said on social media that his crew was cleaning out the sewers when the driver hit their crash attenuator.
It is a device hooked up to their arrow boards to protect workers.

Nixon said they managed to finish their work and got the sewers cleaned.
'We also want you guys to make sure that you're keeping yourself safe because we're trying to do our part, and we ask that the motor public do theirs as well.'
Nixon said he was involved in a crash back on March 14.
ODOT Cleveland posted pictures of the crash on its Facebook page.
It shows an orange SUV sustained front-end damage on the driver's side.
'Please remember to pay attention, move over, and slow down around vehicles with flashing lights,' ODOT Cleveland said. 'Our men and women just want to get home safely at the end of the day, and they rely on you, the motoring public, to ensure their safety.'

5 hospitalized after car submerges into pond, OSHP says
Several people were hospitalized after a vehicle went into a retention pond Thursday night. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Officers, state troopers, and medics responded at around 6:25 p.m. to the area of U.S. 40 and Park West Drive on reports of a vehicle into a pond, according to West Jefferson Police Brandon Smith. Merrill Thompson told our news partner, WBNS-TV in Columbus, that people saw the vehicle traveling westbound in the left lane before slowly driving in the right lane, off the road, and into a pond. The driver reportedly got out of the vehicle, and a trooper rescued a child before the car sank. Lt. Thompson told WBNS that another person was rescued before the car was fully submerged. It is currently unknown when the other two people got out of the vehicle, according to OSHP. 'Multiple fire departments responded to the scene, providing critical assistance with rescue operations and the transportation of victims to area hospitals,' said Chief Smith. Medics transported three people to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus with 'non-life-threatening injuries,' WBNS said. LIST: Grants for bike, pedestrian infrastructure projects
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced today funding for projects recommended to occur will be dispersed over the next few fiscal years. According to DeWine, the funding is part of the state's Transportation Alternatives Program. Funding is distributed for recommended projects which boost pedestrian safety and bike infrastructure. Hall Co. escaped inmate steals motorcycle, leads deputies on multi-state chase, officials say
An inmate on work release is back in custody after deputies said he led them on a multi-state chase. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] On Monday, Stephens County deputies tried to stop a black motorcycle. The sheriff's office said they were notified that the driver, later identified as 39-year-old Daniel Jesse Bell of Braselton, was an escaped inmate from Hall County. The SCSO said Bell cut off his ankle monitor before leaving the area earlier Monday afternoon and the motorcycle was also possibly stolen from Hall County. Deputies said they spotted the motorcycle traveling on Highway 123. When they tried to stop Bell, he sped away. Stephens County deputies chased Bell into South Carolina, where Oconee County, S.C. deputies took over. Oconee deputies then took Bell into custody. Due to his burn injuries, Bell was taken to a burn center for treatment, where he remains in custody.
