St Johnstone to kick off 2025/26 season away from home as Premier Sports Cup fixtures revealed
St Johnstone will kick off their 2025/26 campaign with a trip to face SPFL new boys East Kilbride.
Saints' primary aim for the new season is to secure promotion back to the Premiership, having fallen out of the top flight for the first time in 16 years.
However, before their tilt at the Championship can begin, they will warm up with four Premier Sports Cup group stage games.
And the dates and times for each of Saints' 'Group F' clashes have now been confirmed.
The Perth side will begin their cup run with with a trip to face SPFL newcomers East Kilbride, who are preparing for their maiden season in League Two, having defeated Bonnyrigg Rose in last season's pyramid play-off.
Another away match follows, with Inverness Caley Thistle hosting Simo Valakari's side, before a home double-header against Championship rivals Raith Rovers – from whom Saints have snapped up striker Jamie Gullan – and Elgin City.

Craig Watson has parted ways with the Diamonds after a four-year spell Airdrie have announced Craig Watson has left the club after four years with the Monklands men. The Diamonds defender helped the club to Championship survival this past season and was also part of the League One promotion-winning squad in 2023. A former Hamilton Accies and East Fife player, the 30-year-old is now on the lookout for a new club. A club statement read: "After four years and over 150 appearances for the Diamonds, Craig Watson is moving on with our thanks and best wishes. "Defender Craig joined from East Fife in May of 2021, having caught the eye of then boss Ian Murray with a number of solid displays against his side. "Featuring regularly over four seasons in central defence and the right full-back role, the athletic former Hamilton man impressed the Airdrie faithful with his no-nonsense defending and ability on the ball. "'Janny' also showed an eye for goal, finding the net 11 times over his 153 appearances – with a couple of Goal of the Season contenders in the shape of outstanding strikes against Montrose and Alloa Athletic. "As a model professional, a positive influence in the dressing room, and a consistently reliable squad member during a successful period for the club, we wish Craig the very best of luck with whatever comes next in his football career. Matheus Cunha to Man Utd transfer confirmed with £62.5m release clause triggered
Manchester United have completed the signing of Matheus Cunha. United will pay Wolves £62.5million for the Brazilian after triggering the release clause in his contract. Cunha becomes the Red Devils' first signing of a crucial summer transfer window, subject to his visa and registration. The Brazil star is now to head on international duty but was pictured in Manchester on Sunday morning. Upon announcing the deal, United said: "Everyone at Manchester United looks forward to welcoming Matheus to Old Trafford." Cunha's former club meanwhile expressed their gratitude for the forward's time at the club. "Everyone at Wolves would like to thank Matheus for his contributions in old gold and wish he and his family the best of luck for the future," a statement read. Boss Ruben Amorim is desperate to improve his squad after seeing his side finish a dire 15th in the Premier League table. United missed out on qualification for European football having also failed to win a single trophy under the 40-year-old's management. Amorim has prioritised boosting his attacking options this summer, following a dreadful campaign in front of goal. The Red Devils ended up as the fifth-lowest scorers in the top-flight, with Amorim struggling to unlock his side's attack. Cunha will come in as one of the two No.10s in Amorim's 3-4-2-1 system. The 26-year-old starred in Wolves' successful battle to beat relegation to the Championship. He scored 17 goals and add six assists to earn Wolves' Players' Player of the Season award. Cunha himself has already made his happiness at his move north clear. The attacker has hailed his new manager Amorim and backed him to succeed at United despite his difficult start. "Talking about him is easy, I think he's a great coach and I wish him nothing but the best," Cunha told CNN Brasil via Daily Mail. "I hope he conquers the world as he did Portugal." Asked if they could do that together, he added: "Well, God willing, we'll always do our best to help." According to The Athletic, United first offered to pay Cunha's release clause in five instalments. This suggestion was flatly rejected by Wolves, with the Red Devils now agreeing to meet the full terms of the Midlands club's demands. Cunha joined Wolves from RB Leipzig on loan in January 2023 before completing a permanent move for £43m that summer. He previously played for Atletico Madrid, Hertha Berlin and FC Sion, and has been capped 13 times by Brazil. The attacker will be with his new club for the start of pre-season training in July. The move for Cunha has already been backed by legendary United skipper Gary Neville. "Man United are desperate in that position," he told Sky Sports. "You think of what Manchester United are playing now, they've let Jadon Sancho go, they've let (Marcus) Rashford go, they've let Antony go, so three players who are natural players who travel with the ball. "They need someone who can beat players, they need someone who's equally as good running through the middle with the ball and travelling with the ball, and go out wide and support the wing-back. "So he's [Cunha] a type of player that you could see Manchester United being interested in, that would suit this system that Ruben Amorim wants to play."

Former Caley Thistle boss could be brought in by Ross County to add experience to Don Cowie's coaching team
Former Caley Thistle manager John Robertson has been linked with a move to Ross County. According to a report in the Sunday Mail, the Staggies are considering bringing in an experienced coach to assist manager Don Cowie as the club prepares for life in the Championship. County were relegated after losing the Premiership play-off final against Livingston 5-3 on aggregate. Cowie is currently assisted by former Caley Thistle defender Carl Tremarco and Cowie's brother Paul, who previously worked at Dundee United. Former Caley Thistle boss Robertson, who had a short spell in charge of County in 2005, is reportedly under consideration for a role in a new-look County management team. Another name understood to be under consideration is former Kilmarnock boss Alex Dyer, who was assistant to Steve Clarke at the Ayrshire club before taking on the manager's role from 2019 to 2021.
