RACE 1: GOSFORD IT MIDWAY BENCHMARK 72 HANDICAP 1200m
TRAFALGAR SQUARE (9) has raced at Gosford once, namely a closing third in between her Golden Gift debut (good) run and a not so good fifth of six in the Kindergarten. Only won once from 16 but talent is not the issue, it is her pattern of slow early/fast late that holds her back. Hope it doesn't beat here again. APACHE BREEZE (4) is another backmarker in the Midway but if things goes his way, he could storm into the medals here.
Bet: Trafalgar Square each-way
■ ■ ■ ■ ■
RACE 2: ORTUS FINANCIAL 2YO HANDICAP 1200m
From day one, KILMAN (2) has 1400m/1600m top shelf late two-yare-old then three-year-old Guineas type written all over him and I note with great interest but zero surprise that has a ticket in the Queensland Sires' and J.J. Atkins. Just hope he gets around Gosford. INQUISITOR (8) could be saved for another day but he's a handy prospect himself. SEQUISTA (1) has two very good runs on her resume at her only runs. HIDDEN ACHIEVEMENT (6) has a bright future.
Bet: Kilman to win, Kilman to win Queensland Sires' ($51) and J.J. Atkins ($51)
■ ■ ■ ■ ■
RACE 3: TAB HIGHWAY HANDICAP 1200m
ATMOSPHERIC ROCK (17) is, in my opinion, the best horse but the widest draw with the big weight on a track that could, on paper be poison to his pattern, is still somewhat hard to go past just with all the depth in his form. Speaking of depth, JOISELLE (4) has a third to Clear Thinking on her stylish resume. Barrier 3 could be the 'winning draw'. CARRIBEAN KING (6) is from the Dunn stable (tick). The 'cross' is a mere three wins from 37 starts but at least two of them were first-up.
Bet: Atmospheric Rock to win or if scratched Joiselle to win
■ ■ ■ ■ ■
RACE 4: POLVIN FENCING SYSTEMS 3&4YO BENCHMARK 72 HANDICAP 1600m
Can see why AUTOMNE TREE (9) was nominated for the Derby. Look at the pedigree; he is by The Autumn Sun out of a close relative of the Melbourne Cup winner, Gold Trip. I tipped him first-up and he surely did enough to get a pass mark, sixth of 12, fitness telling the last bit. How's this for a couple of scalps? LAST COMMAND (5) won the Paul Perry in March last year beating Just Party and, drum roll please, Broadsiding. Impressive last start winner.
Bet: Automne Tree to win, Automne Tree each-way in the Queensland Derby ($101/$26)
■ ■ ■ ■ ■
RACE 5: TOOHEYS BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 2100m
TRAPALANDA (15) is a Highclere/Archibald gelding who came from Ireland with a record of two seconds and a 2414m Maiden win by two and a half lengths at Listowel. Had two fitness trials prior to his honourable debut in an 1800m Benchmark 78 on the Kensington where he was $21 into $17 and ran accordingly; as in 'good for next time'. MR BUSTER (14) has had a lovely lead in to this 2100m race, third-up. Sydney form is quite okay. SO DAZZLING (2) is a player but is only one from 25.
Bet: Trapalanda each-way, quinella 14, 15
■ ■ ■ ■ ■
RACE 6: TRIPLE M THUNDER THOUSAND BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1000m
RANTAN (12) won on debut in memorable barnstorming fashion but it was her last four starts, three of them anyway, where she has impressed most with her consistency and at a decent level of racing. She went out on a high and trialled really well when third to Jedibeel and Crafty Eagle no less. Just needs a good ride around here. LULUMON (10), who was third in the Inglis Challenge on debut, has run a lot more good races than bad. As for trials, hers have been as good as anything on the day.
Bet: Rantan, Lulumon each-way
■ ■ ■ ■ ■
RACE 7: GUARDIAN SAFETY SOLUTIONS GOSFORD GOLD CUP 2100m
HEZASHOCKA (3) won last year's Gosford Cup, which was run at Newcastle, a track that is much more favourable to him. This son of Shocking has run in some huge races and more or less held his own against the likes of Mr Brightside, Zaaki, Mo'Unga, Alligator Blood and Dubai Honour. Frankly barrier 1 and Gosford has me worried but plenty of faith in the horse. There's a big race in MR WATERVILLE (13). Probably more a handicap over a bit longer but still he's going well.
Bet: Hezashocka to win, Mr Waterville to place
■ ■ ■ ■ ■
RACE 8: THE COAST 3&4YO QUALITY 1600m
DEPTH OF CHARACTER (2) was so dominant winning the Queensland Guineas last Saturday. I really rate the third placed Churchill's Choice so I had to mark the winner 'up' again for how easily he did it. Caveat is that this is a different set-up in that he is taking on older horses and gives all bar one of them a weight advantage. The market may well tell the story regarding the very well-credentialed ROYAL SUPREMACY (7) who would have been my on-top pick but for barrier 15. WOOTTON VERNI (4) was well-backed first-up, lost, but way too early to give up on.
Bet: Depth Of Character to win, Daily Double 1st Leg (2), 2nd Leg (4)
■ ■ ■ ■ ■
RACE 9: DE BORTOLI WINES TAKEOVER TARGET STAKES 1200m
PEREILLE (9) has finished with a medal at 18 of his 23 starts, 11 of them are silver. That's a lot of second but what I found interesting and appealing about this son of Fastnet Rock is that all four of his wins are at this trip. On top of that, he is at home on any surface. BRUDENELL (2) has won 10 from 26. Any horse that wins 10 races in this era has to be hugely admired and he's done it in 26 starts. Excuses last start; trialled well since. Chances go up if the track gets better.
Bet: Pereille to win, quinella 2, 9
■ ■ ■ ■ ■
RACE 10: RAILWAY HOTEL GOSFORD BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1200m
MEMORIA (4) has come a long way since winning her debut in a 1000m Maiden at Tamworth on August 2 in 2022. Her resume boasts seven wins and 11 placings from 26 starts. She ran third in the Mona Lisa Prelude in September behind Pajanti who goes well. That's the same mare she beat at Randwick on April 26. One more thing; Memoria is three visits to Gosford for two wins. Dual acceptor ATMOSPHERIC ROCK (12) (Race 3) has claims. KING OF ROSEAU (5) has held his own against some stars of his foal crop from day one.
Bet: Memoria to win

Scone best bets and inside mail for Tuesday June 10, 2025
Racenet and The Daily Telegraph form analyst Shayne O'Cass provides his best bets and race-by-race analysis at Scone on Tuesday. â– â– â– â– â– SCONE TIPS BEST BET Race 2 No. 2: LADY MEMPHIS Won at Goulburn 16 days after debut second to Private Harry. NEXT BEST Will relish the longer trip while racing at home here. VALUE BET Race 8 No.6: ARCHAIC FORCE Huge run in the Highway here at the Cup carnival. DAILY DOUBLE 1st Leg: 4, 2nd Leg 6 QUADDIE Race 5: 1, 2, 3, 4 Race 6: 4, 12 Race 7: 3, 5 Race 8: 4, 6, 7 JOCKEY TO FOLLOW Aaron Bullock versus Ashley Morgan – what a clash! Bullock by a nose (maybe). â– â– â– â– â– SCONE INSIDE MAIL IT STAYS IN VEGAS (8) bumped into Raging Force in the Red Crown but was the second elect, albeit $4.40 out to $11. He ran fifth, which on face value makes him a disappointment, but it was a funny sort of Soft 6 that day so maybe needs to be forgiven. Back home and in an easier race. PRISCILA STATEMENT (7) handed in a solid third on debut at Muswellbrook. Drawn to be prominent throughout. Ballina visitor MOFEED (2) has placed at five of his seven starts, which augurs well for another medal here. BET: IT STAYS IN VEGAS to win. LADY MEMPHIS (2) finished runner-up on debut in a Newcastle Super Maiden to Private Harry. Even the third horse, Rubi's Serve, goes well. No surprise then that the Matthew Smith-trained filly won her next start down at Goulburn. Spelled and has trialled up really nicely since. CAPITAL DANCER (1) has run more good races than bad in her time. This is her pet trip and she gets barrier two and Aaron Bullock. BET: LADY MEMPHIS to win; exacta 2 to beat 1. RITZSUN (9) is a Scott Singleton-trained 3YO and thus giving away age and experience to the entire field here. That said, his numbers make compelling reading. Chief among them is that both his wins were here are home. Trialled well since a second on May 10 in a Highway on Gosford Cup day. Speaking of trials, OUR BOY OLLIE's (4) hitout here on June 5 was a beauty. IN SPADES' (8) best would have her on podium. BET: RITZSUN to win. LOUISBURGH (1) is a son of Zoustar out of Sunset Rock, who beat the subsequent Champagne Stakes winner Go Indy Go in the Cinderella Stakes in 2014. A $250,000 Easter Yearling, Louisburgh has placed at three of his five starts and comes into this off two provincial seconds. So well placed. BACKWARD GLANCE (9) ran fourth, albeit eight lengths behind Saturday's Randwick winner Millie De Lune. BAWNAGLEN (8) should relish the 1350m at home. Bet: Louisburgh to win. SHEILA'S FANTA SEA (4) has a tidy resume of 10 starts, two wins and five placings, three of them seconds. Trainer Wayne Wilkes' daughter Shae has ridden her in all her wins and places, including a very easy win at Taree on May 13. Easy to like. The last time INSIGHTFUL AWARD (2) raced here at home, she won by six. Bit costly since then but never far away, either. TWILIGHT ROCK (1) is one from 19 but has placed 13 times so has to be considered. BET: SHEILA'S FANTASY SEA to win; quinella 2, 4; box trifecta 1, 2, 3, 4. DUBAI WARRIOR (4) debuted at Scone on November 19 last year and ran a huge third to Churchill's Choice no less. Won his maiden at Canberra next start and although he hasn't won again in five runs, he has placed twice and always been running on willingly at the end. Triple Crown's entry PIERONIMO (12) has some deep form. Was second to Millie De Lune (beating The Beats) and has placed again since. BET: DUBAI WARRIOR to win; quinella 4, 12; Daily Double – 1st leg 4, 2nd leg 6. SHUTTER (5) has raced seven times. Take out the debut run at Gunnedah and every once since has contained merit to varying degrees. Everything in the world suggests she will run – and indeed wants – 1700m. The big, home track is another box ticked. Speaking of boxes ticked, barrier three and Aaron Bullock are two reasons why the Greg Hickman-trained JONNY BE SWIFT (2) can challenge here. This is the type of race CROATIAN MADAME (11) can win. BET: SHUTTER to win. ARCHAIC FORCE (6) was a $125,000 Inglis Classic Yearling. Good money for a Cosmic Force but this horse is also a son of NZ Oaks winner and multiple stakes-horse producer Bramble Rose. The Todd Howlett-trained 3YO is cursed when it comes to barrier draws and as for the last run here on cup day, it was huge. MONARCH EXPRESS (4) has talent, a good draw and jockey. DUBAI GOLD (7) has been trialling like a bomb since he got to Nathan Doyle's stable.

Shayne O'Cass: Canterbury, Grafton King's Birthday Monday tips, inside mail
Form analyst Shayne O'Cass presents his best bets, value selection and quaddie picks for metropolitan racing at Canterbury on King's Birthday Monday, plus his tips for Grafton. • PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! â– â– â– â– â– CANTERBURY BEST BET Saves her absolute best for this track and distance. Blue-blooded Godolphin colt and his trials suggest talent. VALUE Race 7 No. 6: Flying Destiny Boasts some compelling track and fresh figures; light weight too. QUADDIE RACE 5: 2,5,6 Race 6: 3,9,11 Race 7: 6,11 Race 8: 2 $18 = 100 per cent of the dividend JOCKEY TO FOLLOW James McDonald is on 197 winners at Canterbury. RACE 1 Cabriole is the first foal of Thousand Guineas and Light Fingers winner, Flit. This colt is straight off the Lonhro-assembly line and like all of them, he moves like a panther. Nice colt. All eyes are on Central Coast here; the $1.4 million Inglis Australian Easter Yearling by Wootton Bassett out of Sunlight. Turned in two beautiful trials ahead of this much anticipated debut. Cosmonaut has race experience. Expecting him to be strong late here. Bet: Cabriole to win, Cosmonaut to place, exacta 2 to beat 3. RACE 2 British Gem can be forgiven for her underwhelming debut at Newcastle on May 3 given it was a heavy (10) track. Has only seen heavy ground in all of her trials and the one race start so suspecting that she will appreciate it a bit firmer. The Pearls has 'Oaks/Cups type' in her blood – literally – as a member of a prized family that boasts The Phantom, The Phantom Chance, The Twinkle, The Dimple and so many more. Be strong late here. Bet: British Gem each-way, quinella. Lady Boss has three wins and five placings from 12 starts. She has mixed and matched it with better horses than these. One start for one easy win here. Blue Willow is the fifth foal of Anamato which makes this filly a half-sister to Anamoe. This will be Anamoe's jockey James McDonald's first ride on Blue Willow in what is her city debut. All three runs were at Newcastle, each one better than the last. Bet: Lady Boss to win, exacta 2 to beat 10. RACE 4 Gatchan is a Norm Gardner-trained mare whose fourth dam is Who Can Say; the mother of Bounding Away. Gatchan has a get back, run on pattern which hasn't always helped and granted, is least presumably effective at Canterbury but she passed a lot of horses here the other day. Gatchan gets almost 10kg off Monarch's Brae but this Chris Waller and James McDonald topweight is working his way to a peak. He's a Canterbury horse having won four from nine here. Bet: Gatchan each-way, quinella 1,8. Gatekeeper is another James McDonald ride. He's one for one on Gatekeeper which was set aside after an impressive win here on debut in mid-January. He's a gelding but still can marvel at his pedigree being by Justify out of Nakeeta Jane. Trialled well, nice horse. Dashing Eagle descendant Hippolyte Rock was ridden by Tommy Berry when he won at Newcastle in March and he's there again today which is a positive lead. Bet: Gatekeeper to win, box First 4: Nos, 2,5,6,9,11. Apex has raced seven times for two wins, three seconds and a third. That third was behind Caulfield Guineas winner Private Life on debut. The Hawkes Racing gelding has finished runner-up in all three visits to Canterbury, two were at this same trip. Metaphorically has been gelded since he last appeared. Lightly raced, has deep form and the trials are excellent. Wave Breaker 's best would be good enough to win. Bet: Apex to win, Daily Double 1st Leg 3, 2nd Leg 2. Flying Destiny has five wins and 10 placings (seven of them seconds) from 21 career starts. On top of that, the Darby Racing galloper has raced at Canterbury three times for two wins and a second. He's always been a good fresh horse and the trials are suggestive of a bold return (as usual). Expecting a much better run, a more typical run in fact, from World Alliance. That was a very wet track there first-up for him at home. Won a trial since. Pink Shalala boasts the 1980 Golden Slipper winner, Dark Eclipse, as her sixth dam. Her numbers are impressive; nine runs, one win, four second and two thirds. Her record at this track and trip is three starts for a win and two seconds. Granted, it is not all lollipops and roses; she has been a bit costly at times for punters but barrier 4, James McDonald, third-up – really, she has to step up this time. Bonus Tempus could run well here at big odds as he is prone to do on occasions. Bet: Punk Shalala to win (best bet). â– â– â– â– â– BEST BET Both runs, either side of the spell, have had merit. Hasn't done much wrong and was good first-up here too. VALUE Dundeel three-year-old that seems eager to get a mile. Does now.

Matt Dale will weigh up Stradbroke Handicap tilt with Front Page after Moreton Cup win
It would be uncharted territory but trainer Matt Dale indicated 'the discussion will be had' about giving evergreen sprint warrior Front Page a crack at next Saturday's Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap. Rising nine-year-old Front Page has never won over 1400m – and indeed only raced over that trip once before – but on Saturday at Eagle Farm won the Group 2 Moreton Cup over 1200m which gives him a golden ticket into the Stradbroke (1400m). Racenet iQ members get full access to our Pro Tips service, where Greg and our team of professional punters provide daily tips with fully transparent return on investment statistics. SUBSCRIBE NOW and start punting like a pro! Connections would need to pay a hefty late-entry fee and they and Goulburn trainer Dale must decide whether it is worthwhile given Front Page is primarily known for his deeds over nippier sprint trips. But after scoring the Moreton Cup at Eagle Farm, Dale certainly wasn't ruling out a Stradbroke tilt. 'The (Stradbroke) discussion will be had,' Dale said. 'We will certainly give some thought to it. 'A decision will be made on Tuesday, he will either be racing in the Stradbroke or going out for a month in the paddock here in Queensland. 'It's a good problem to have. 'He is a tough old horse who is rock solid fit and he ran right through the line today. 'We will enjoy this win and then dissect everything.' Adding to the complexity of Dale's decision is that it looks, at least on paper, to be shaping up to be one of the weakest Stradbrokes in recent times. Progressive Lindsay Park sprinter War Machine tops the Stradbroke betting market but there are few in the likely Stradbroke field who are standing out on stalks seven days out from the great race. Even if he doesn't contest the Stradbroke, Front Page won more fans on Saturday with his first win since scoring the $2m The Kosciuszko in 2023, his second triumph in that rich race after also scoring it the previous year. Front Page ($4.40) settled down to fight the Moreton Cup out with Tony Gollan's galloper Hidden Wealth and was stronger in the final stages. 'He's just an absolute beauty,' Dale declared. 'We came up here today rapt with how the horse was. 'The track has dried out all week but the track is still a bit choppy, and at the top of the straight I thought we were in a little bit of trouble. 'But he was prepared to get down and dirty and tough it out. 'I didn't think he looked as comfortable as he does on a good surface, but Timmy (jockey Tim Clark) knows him well and he did a great job sitting off Hidden Wealth.' ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ Gollan faces nervous Stradbroke wait with Transatlantic - Daniel Pace Brisbane's premier trainer Tony Gollan has already tasted Group 1 glory this winter carnival with local star Antino, now he could get an unexpected chance to add to his haul. Gollan is sweating on a ratings bump for Transatlantic and the attrition rate in the upcoming Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) to qualify for Queensland's premier race at Eagle Farm next Saturday. The potential bonus to Gollan's epic Doomben Cup (2000m) victory with Antino two weeks ago came after the four-year-old gelding Transatlantic won a nailbiter in the Spear Chief Handicap at Eagle Farm on Saturday. Transatlantic had a 99 rating and was No.35 in the Stradbroke ballot order heading into the Spear Chief (1500m). 'He'll definitely be running (in the Stradbroke) if he gets in it,' Gollan said about the seven-day backup. 'It's now up to the handicapper to determine what they want to do with his rating. 'I've always had the Stradbroke in the back of my mind, this was a low percentage play to try to get him into the race. But I wanted to see him back winning. 'We'll see how it plays out with the attrition rate, but if everything marries up we'll be back here next week (for the Stradbroke). 'I've always thought he was a Stradbroke horse for some time.' Transatlantic improved his chances of making the Stradbroke field by winning the Spear Chief Handicap at Eagle Farm. Picture: Trackside Photography Jockey Ryan Maloney put Transatlantic into the ideal spot out wide to surge home just ahead of Desert Lightning ($10), with Fukubana ($5) in third on a Soft 5 track. 'The other day, I thought he was wanting to get out to this sort of trip, and he travelled like the winner a long way from home,' Gollan said. 'Ryan put him into a good position, and we made a subtle gear change with the winkers going on, which had him focused a touch better. 'He's a really nice horse, you saw how well he paraded today. He looks fantastic and he's still on the way up. 'That will have brought him on nicely. If we don't get into the Stradbroke then you might see him in the Wayne Wilson Mile instead.' In the earlier Queensland Day Stakes, $23 roughie Cosmic Fire won the Listed 1200m race ahead of Gerringong ($4) and topweight Coleman ($9) for trainer Billy Healey. 'He's just so honest and he continues to put up a fight every time we send him around,' Healey said 'He's had not much luck a few times but he's a horse who really put me on the map the last 12 months so I owe a lot to him.'
