Tributes to singing LUFC fan, 99, who became viral star
Tributes have been paid to Leeds United's oldest season ticket holder, who has died a year after a video of him singing the club's anthem went viral.
Leslie Bray, who was 99, could remember every word of 'Marching on Together' despite being diagnosed with advanced dementia.
A heartwarming clip of him singing the song with fellow fans at the club's Elland Road ground was viewed several million times online in early 2024.
Mr Bray's daughter-in-law, Dawn, said the "unexpected" coverage had made him him a "bit of a local celebrity" and "loved by football fans who had never even met him."
In a tribute posted on Leeds United's website, Dawn said: "Les passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family.
"Dad was a lifelong supporter and season ticket holder at Leeds United and, despite his significant years, was still attending home games with his son.
"Not all LUFC legends are on the pitch!"
A former RAF navigator, Mr Bray had been going to Leeds games since 1969.
Following his moment of fame last year, he was invited to Wembley with his son Steve to cheer on the Whites in their play-off final against Southampton in May.
The club said it would encourage fans to take part in a round of applause for Mr Bray 10 minutes before Leeds' home game against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Jaka Bijol to undergo Leeds medical, Gabriel Gudmundsson on radar
Leeds United transfer target Jaka Bijol is in West Yorkshire for a medical on Wednesday. The Udinese centre-back has flown to the UK for the final stages of his move from the Serie A outfit. Talks between the two clubs over the final fee are continuing, but with the medical allowed to go ahead, Leeds sources are confident the final details should be a formality. Advertisement If the move is completed, Bijol would become United's second signing of the summer following the arrival of forward Lukas Nmecha on a free transfer, which was confirmed on June 15. That deal will become official on July 1. The Athletic reported on June 10 Leeds were optimistic about completing a deal for Bijol, with talks focused on a deal valued around €15-18million (£12.7-15.2m). It remains to be seen where the negotiations on a fee end up. The Slovenia international previously played for CSKA Moscow and spent a season on loan at Hannover 96 in Germany before joining Udinese in the summer of 2022. In his three seasons at the club, he has made 95 appearances. Last campaign, the defender made 37 appearances in total, captaining the side on several occasions. Bijol has also made 63 appearances for the Slovenia national team, in a senior international career that has lasted seven years. He started all four games at Euro 2024, helping his side reach the round of 16, where they were eliminated via a penalty shootout by Portugal. Leeds are also keen to add a first-rate striker to their squad this summer. Rodrigo Muniz is the only centre-forward which has been accurately linked to Elland Road as of this week, but club sources feel other targets are more likely to arrive than the Brazilian. The Athletic has learned Leeds have already lodged a bid with Fulham for the striker this summer. An offer of £26million ($34.9m) plus £6m ($8.1m) in add-ons was rejected earlier in the window. Left-backs are also on the agenda for Leeds and Lille's Gabriel Gudmundsson has emerged as a legitimate target. The Sweden international has one year left on his contract with the Ligue 1 club. United's budget could be boosted by the sale of a former player this summer. Charlie Cresswell, who departed for Toulouse in a permanent deal last year, has had a stellar first season in France. Fixtures announced for 2025/26 Premier League season
Leeds United's fixtures for the 2025/26 Premier League season have today been announced. The Whites begin the campaign at Elland Road, hosting Everton under the lights on Monday 18th August. From there, Daniel Farke's side head to the capital to face last term's runners up Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday 23rd August. Advertisement The festive fixtures see Leeds travel to Sunderland and Liverpool on Saturday 27th December and Tuesday 30th December respectively, before hosting Manchester United in the first fixture of 2026, on Saturday 3rd January.
