Yahoo11-02-2025

BOWIE (KFDX/KJTL) — Texas Governor Greg Abbott has congratulated the City of Bowie as a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community.
This designation shows the citys commitment to further develop tourism to boost local jobs, grow the economy and bring in more visitors into the community.

'Tourism is critical to both our local and state economies, supporting one in 11 jobs across Texas,' Abbott said. 'I congratulate the City of Bowie and Bowie Community Development on earning this designation. All Texas communities are encouraged to apply to become a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community to further grow local tourism and jobs across our great state.'
This program helps Texas communities establish economic development that has limited local tourism.
Applications for the 2025 year are closed, but communities are encouraged to apply starting January 2026 and maybe your community will be a part of the next Tourism Friendly Texas.
