The team will face the Florida Panthers again, just like in 2024. Last year, the Oilers lost the game. Now, McDavid gets a second chance. This is his second Final in a row. Many fans are saying he might follow the path of NHL greats Wayne Gretzky and Sidney Crosby. McDavid's second chance mirrors Wayne Gretzky and Sidney Crosby's paths In 2024, Connor McDavid and the Oilers lost to the Panthers in the Final. It was a hard series. But now, in 2025, they will play the same team again. This gives McDavid a rare chance- a rematch for the Cup. Wayne Gretzky went through the same thing. In 1983, Gretzky and the Oilers lost to the New York Islanders. But in 1984, they came back stronger. They beat the Islanders 4–1 and won the Cup. Gretzky scored 35 points in that playoff run. That was his first Stanley Cup win and the start of a great era for Edmonton. Sidney Crosby also had a similar story. In 2008, Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins lost to the Detroit Red Wings in the Final. Then, in 2009, they played them again. This time, Crosby's team won in Game 7. According to official NHL stats, he is only the fourth player in history to get 20 or more points in four straight postseasons. He has been a big reason the Oilers made it this far again. In a recent media interaction posted on McDavid said, 'We've worked hard all year to be back here. We know what we're facing.' The Oilers have looked stronger this season. They won games with solid defense and fast offense. Fans and experts believe McDavid has what it takes to win. If he does, he'll join a special group of stars — just like Wayne Gretzky in 1984 and Sidney Crosby in 2009.

He has been away since April 2023 due to health issues caused by long COVID. Now, after months of rest and training, he says he is ready. His agent Pat Brisson confirmed that Jonathan Toews is fully committed to playing next season. With NHL free agency opening on July 1, teams are already showing interest, including the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jonathan Toews open to joining Toronto Maple Leafs Jonathan Toews stopped playing in April 2023. He left to focus on his health after long-term effects from COVID-19 made it hard for him to continue. He travelled to different places, looking for treatments. Since then, he has been training privately to prepare for a comeback. \ On May 29, 2025, NHL insider Pierre LeBrun shared that Pat Brisson, Toews's agent, said Toews will be ready for offers starting July 1. Brisson also said that Toews is open to all teams. One of them is the Toronto Maple Leafs. This was also confirmed by hockey reporter Nick Alberga from The Leafs Nation. Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager Brad Treliving spoke after the season ended in May 2025. He said the team's 'DNA' needs to change. He added that the Maple Leafs need leaders — players who know how to win. Treliving did not name Toews directly but said the team is looking for experienced veterans. With the Chicago Blackhawks, he won the Stanley Cup three times; he also received the Selke Trophy, presented to the top defensive forward in the league. Many think he still possesses great leadership, even if he hasn't played in more than a year. Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk once declared Toews to be among the most admired players in hockey. Should Toews join the Maple Leafs, he could be employed in depth capacity, like as third-line center. His knowledge could benefit the squad under tense postseason games. There are still questions about his health. But those close to him say he feels strong and is ready to return.

Dinesh Karthik will be unbearable if RCB win IPL 2025 title: Naseer Hussain

Nasser Hussain joked that Dinesh Karthik would be unbearable if RCB won the IPL 2025 in his first year as the side's mentor. Karthik, who retired from the IPL last season, was appointed before the 2025 campaign. He played a big role in helping the think tank assemble the team during the IPL 2025 auction. The inputs from the former India wicketkeeper played a vital role in Bengaluru's phenomenal 2025 campaign as they made it to the final by winning Qualifier 1 against PBKS. Speaking on the Sky Sports podcast, Hussain, who works alongside Karthik in the commentary box, said that the former wicketkeeper will be unbearable if RCB win the title. advertisementMichael Atherton also chimed in and said that Karthik will act like John Terry after the 2012 Champions League final and will be at the front of the trophy celebrations. 'RCB have got through to the finals. If they win that, DK is going to be unbearable. One season as coach/mentor and he's won it,' Hussain said in jest on the Sky Sports Podcast in a humorous tone. 'He's unbearable at the best of times, he's going to be doubly unbearable. He'll be like John Terry, at the front of the RCB trophy presentation holding it there with Virat Kohli,' Michael Atherton Karthik said about being part of RCBKarthik said that it is a very special feeling to be part of RCB. The RCB batting mentor said that winning the first IPL title for the franchise was one of the main reasons why he decided to join the side. advertisement"Being part of RCB is a very special feeling. Purely because of the brand of cricket that we play, but also the fans that we have. And most importantly, it's a journey that's been filled with lots of highs and lows. But the trophy hadn't reached the shores of Bangalore yet. If I could be part of that journey, why not? That was a big question in my mind. I know how close we were when I played. So here's another opportunity for me as a coach," said Karthik. RCB will face the winner of the Qualifier 2 between PBKS and MI in Ahmedabad on June 3. Trending Reel IN THIS STORY#IPL 2025
