Where does the Iowa football 2026 recruiting class rank after Cash Herrera's decommitment?
Following the decommitment of three-star quarterback Cash Herrera, Iowa football's 2026 recruiting class currently consists of nine players.
Depending on the site, Iowa has anywhere from one to three four-star prospects, with the rest of the class regarded as three-star commits.
The Hawks have focused heavily in the trenches, with six of the nine commits in the class being either an offensive or defensive lineman. Certainly Kirk Ferentz and recruiting director Tyler Barnes are high on this class, but what do national recruiting sites think?

Iowa's 2026 class has an aggregate ranking of 47th across 247Sports, On3 and Rivals. ESPN released their top 25 recruiting classes for 2026 and Iowa was not featured among the 25 teams or in the honorable mentions.

What's next for the 2026 class?
While the national rankings don't look great, it's important to note that it's still early in the process. At this time last year, Iowa's 2025 class had only eight commits. The Hawkeyes finished with 16 signees and the country's 42nd-ranked class according to the averaging ranking from those three sites.
Iowa's eight commits are tied for the fourth-fewest in the Big Ten. Only Michigan, Oregon, Maryland and Nebraska have fewer commits at this time. As the Hawks add more commits, their national and conference rankings will continue to rise.
Iowa is hosting a number of key visitors this weekend, including uncommitted targets CJ Hester, Julian Manson, Kasen Thomas, Darion Jones and Mason Lewis.
There's also the transfer portal, which Iowa will be able to hit after the 2025 season. The Hawkeyes are bringing in nine transfers this season and will continue to look to the portal going forward.
With upcoming visit days, the 2025 season and the transfer portal to follow, Iowa's 2026 recruiting class should start to climb the rankings soon.

Oklahoma Sooners will stripe the stadium against Michigan
The Oklahoma Sooners have a total of seven home games during the 2025 season, including a huge nonconference showdown against the Michigan Wolverines in Week 2. Earlier this week, the university announced themes for each home game, with the primetime showdown against the 2023 champs as the highlight. OU will stripe Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on September 6th, a theme the Sooners have brought out for plenty of other big games in the past. Among others, September 20th against Auburn is "Wear Crimson" day, Homecoming against Ole Miss is set for October 25th and "Military Appreciation Day" is against Missouri on November 22nd. After Oklahoma lost two home games a year ago (against Tennessee and South Carolina), the Sooners would love to get back to their 2023 form, where they went undefeated in Norman. Lefty Shota Imanaga will rejoin the Cubs next week in St. Louis
CHICAGO -- Left-hander Shota Imanaga will rejoin the Chicago Cubs early next week in St. Louis following a sharp Triple-A rehab start on Friday, manager Craig Counsell said Saturday. Counsell wasn't sure when Imanaga would be slotted into Chicago's rotation but said before the Cubs' game against the Seattle Mariners that the 31-year-old 'is gonna make his next start in the big leagues." Imanaga, who was 15-3 with a 2.91 ERA as a rookie last season, is coming back from a left hamstring strain. He got hurt covering first base during the sixth inning of a 4-0 loss at Milwaukee on May 4. Imanaga is 3-2 with a 2.82 ERA in eight starts for the Cubs this season. His return is expected to provide a lift to the NL Central leaders, who entered Saturday 4 1/2 games in front of Milwaukee and St. Louis. Imanaga tossed 4 1/3 scoreless innings of two-hit ball for Triple-A Iowa at Nashville on Friday night. He struck out eight and walked two. 'Everything went great,' Counsell said. 'Did what we hoped he would do. He's in a position to be ready. So he's going to join us in St. Louis and we'll figure out the next steps.' Before the transition to Iowa, Imanaga pitched six scoreless innings over two rehab starts in the Arizona Complex League. He had a bullpen session in Arizona last Tuesday. Imanaga signed a $53 million, four-year contract with Chicago in January 2024. He often dazzled in 29 starts last season, making the NL All-Star team and finishing fourth in balloting for the NL Rookie of the Year. Also Saturday, the Cubs recalled right-hander Nate Pearson from Iowa and designated lefty Génesis Cabrera for assignment. Pearson is 3-1 with a 2.22 ERA in 19 appearances since he was optioned to Iowa on April 15. ___

Texas A&M lands commitment from elite 2026 five-star Edge out of Georgia
Texas A&M's recruiting success continued on Saturday afternoon, as one of the program's 13 visitors announced his commitment to the Aggies as a five-star edge Tristian Givens, who is currently taking his first official visit to College Station, became the 19th commit in A&M's 2026 cycle, and the second five-star commit alongside cornerback Brandon Arrington. Texas A&M's long history of recruiting and developing elite defensive linemen, and after sending Nic Scourton, Shemar Stewart, and Shemar Turner to the NFL this offseason, Elko and defensive line coaches Tony Jerod-Eddie and Sean Spencer can continue using the program's previous success to gain ground with elite pass rushers with NFL potential. Tristian Givens is that player, and the Georgia native has a bright future in front of him. Choosing the Aggies over Tennessee and Washington, where he recently took official visits, Texas A&M's future edge rotation will allow Givens to see the field earlier than expected, with senior Cashius Howell off to the NFL after the 2025 season. On the field, Givens is still raw as a pass rusher, having started his football career as a wide receiver, but possesses elite traits, especially his ability to bend and keep his balance once he turns the corner. Under Mike Elko, who will call the defensive plays this coming season, recruiting and developing NFL talent is the key to competing for a College Football Playoff spot. According to 247Sports, Givens is currently positioned as the 23rd-ranked prospect in the 2026 cycle, the 3rd-ranked edge, and the 4th-ranked prospect in Georgia.
