Class of 2026 defensive lineman Kobe Cherry committed to Purdue on Monday.
The three-star recruit chose the Boilermakers over other finalists Indiana and Wisconsin. His offer sheet also included Louisville, Minnesota, Toledo and Washington.
247Sports ranks Cherry as the No. 1,357 player in the class of 2026, the No. 147 defensive lineman and the No. 21 recruit from the state of Indiana. The 6-foot-5 lineman only took an official visit to Purdue. Notably, the in-state Boilermakers had long been the prohibitive favorites to land his commitment.
He joins a Purdue class of 2026 that now ranks No. 35 nationally with 18 players committed. That class recently surpassed the Badgers' group (No. 51) in the national rankings. That movement has occurred as Wisconsin has gone 10 days without a commitment.
The Badgers do already have two defensive linemen pledged to the class: Djidjou Bah and Arthur Scott. Bah's status is worth monitoring, however, as he recently took an official visit to Missouri. Wisconsin may be tasked with extra work to retain his commitment.

Indiana Fever cut ties with two-time WNBA champion DeWanna Bonner
After two weeks of question marks and confusion, the Indiana Fever and DeWanna Bonner saga has finally come to an end. The Fever announced on Wednesday morning that they had released the WNBA's third all-time leading scorer and resigned fan favorite Aari McDonald in a corresponding move. Bonner hadn't played in a game for the Fever since June 10, being ruled out for personal reasons. The Fever went 3-2 in the games without Bonner, who had been moved to a bench role after starting the first three games of the season. Across nine games this season, Bonner had averaged 7.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. She became the WNBA's third all-time leading scorer with Indiana and currently has 7,546 career points. The 37-year-old veteran had played ten seasons with the Phoenix Mercury and five seasons with the Connecticut Sun before joining the Fever this past offseason. It's still unclear the reasons why Bonner missed the last five games prior to her release, but rumors about playing time and losing her starting job being the reason have circulated. Bonner will now be a free agent and can sign with any team in the league. The Fever will move forward without Bonner when they host the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Prime Video. Contact/Follow us @HawkeyesWire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Iowa news, notes and opinions. Draft experts offer fresh predictions for Walter Clayton Jr. based on new intel
The 2025 NBA draft is nearly here, and ahead of the big event, the sports media have been scrambling to submit their final predictions before things kick off on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET. The biggest question for the Gator Nation has been where its star guard, Walter Clayton Jr,. will land this summer. It is a foregone conclusion that he will be among the first 30 players selected in the draft, but by whom? ESPN's draft experts Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo published their final mock draft based on recent trades and new intel, and have Clayton going to the New Orleans Pelicans with the 23rd pick via the Indiana Pacers. "Clayton has showcased his dynamic shotmaking in workouts and worked his way up boards in a first round that has shaped up somewhat light on point guard options. He has fans in front offices selecting higher than this, with scenarios in play in which he lands in the top 20. His explosiveness and ability to create his own shot are strong calling cards that should give him a pathway to being a useful bench scorer, at worst," Woo begins. "Minnesota, Miami and Atlanta are considered potential suitors. If Clayton becomes available here, he would be a potential plug-and-play option for a team that could use additional backcourt shooting," he continues. "The Pelicans have been highly active under Joe Dumars thus far, trading CJ McCollum and Kelly Olynyk to the Wizards on Tuesday in a deal that brought back Jordan Poole, Saddiq Bey and the No. 40 pick in this draft. They acquired this pick from Indiana last week, sending the Pacers' 2026 first-rounder back to them to move back into the draft. That decision to trade with the Pacers raised the question among rival teams as to whether the Pelicans would dangle this pick to try to move up from No. 7, but New Orleans is thought to have genuine interest in several players in this range." The 6-foot-2-inch, 199-pound senior guard amassed 18.3 points, 4.2 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game last season, while posting a 44.8% mark from the floor overall, 38.6% from beyond the arc and 85.7% from the charity stripe. Clayton's teammate, fellow guard Alijah Martin, is projected to be selected with the 52nd pick acquired from the Denver Nuggets in the second round by the Phoenix Suns. MSU freshman SF Jordan Scott misses opening night of Moneyball with minor leg injury
Jordan Scott here tonight at Moneyball but not in uniform. Wearing a sleeve on his left calf. No Jeremy Fears either (guessing he's at the NBA draft with his family). Carson Cooper and Trey Fort playing in this first game of the night. One of the incoming freshman on the Spartans' 2025-26 roster was held out of the opening night of Moneyball Pro-Am due to a minor injury. Michigan State small forward Jordan Scott told Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press on Tuesday that he's dealing with a "little tweak" injury related to his left calf. Scott sat out the opening night of Moneyball Pro-Am and was seen wearing a sleeve over his left calf, which garnered the interview from Solari about the injury. 'I'm good, it's just a little tweak,' Scott told Solari. 'I'll be good by next week.' Scott is a high-end four-star prospect in the 2025 class. Listed at 6-foot-7, Scott is ranked as the No. 54 overall prospect and No. 12 small forward in 247Sports' rankings for the 2025 class. Michigan State basketball has been battling the injury bug over the last few weeks, with incoming Florida Atlantic transfer Kaleb Glenn being ruled out for the year and Jesse McCulloch also missing the start of Moneyball Pro-Am with a stress fracture in his foot. The good news, though, is that both McCulloch and Scott should be back before Moneyball Pro-Am concludes, and certainly not expected to miss any time when Michigan State starts practicing for the season in the fall.
