A British couple have died after their Ferrari plunged off a mountain highway into a river in northern Spain.
Pictures show the wrecked black supercar in the Yuso River in Boca de Huergano, on Saturday.
The couple, aged 78 and 58, are said to have been part of a large group of about 20 other Ferrari owners taking part in a rally.
Local media outlets said the pair had been driving along a scenic highway, the N-621, prior to the fatal accident.
Emergency operations took up to six hours after crews arrived on the scene.
Police have not yet named the couple.
It is not known whether they died from the impact of the crash or drowned in the river.
Jose Antonio Gutierrez Sampedro, a local resident, said: 'A Ferrari 488 with 700 horsepower needs to be handled carefully. Maybe the driver suffered a medical emergency. Such a sad way to lose your life.'
The Foreign Office was contacted for comment.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans Is Long. So Are the Preparations.

Ferrari is the team to beat in the F.I.A. World Endurance Championship. It has won all three rounds in 2025 and is heading to the 24 Hours of Le Mans seeking to add to the team's victories in 2023 and 2024. The race itself takes a day, but the preparation for it takes a year. 'We started to work for Le Mans the day after the last one,' Antonello Coletta, global head of endurance and Corse Clienti at Ferrari, said in an interview in May. Understanding failures, and applying remedies, is a priority. 'Even though the results of the last two [Le Mans] were brilliant for us, the best learning case we can have is to understand where we can improve, where we can do better, not just on the car side but also on the operations side,' said Ferdinando Cannizzo, head of endurance racecars. 'We list all this stuff and for each of the points we have a countermeasure and actions. Sometimes it's a meeting, sometimes it's months of work.' Three Ferrari 499Ps are in the race: the No. 50, the No. 51 and the No. 83. In 2024, the No. 50 overcame a door problem and rain late in the race to win Le Mans, but its margin of victory over Toyota Gazoo Racing was just 14.2 seconds. 'Normally when you win you are not the best, but you are the best between all the other competitors that made more errors than you,' Coletta said. 'The best is who made less errors than others. On each occasion [in 2023 and 2024] we had problems, and we needed to understand why we had a mistake, a failure, or an error or [an error in] strategy. We won the first three races [of 2025] but after each race we analyzed some errors that we made in each of them.' Want all of The Times? Subscribe.

Prince William's Friend Dies After Swallowing a Bee at Windsor Polo Match: Reports

Billionaire businessman Sunjay Kapur died on June 12 after reportedly being stung by a bee during a polo match in the U.K. The automotive parts tycoon was an avid polo player and had played with members of the royal family, including Prince William Kapur was previously married to Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor, and they had two children Sunjay Kapur, a billionaire businessman and polo pal of Prince William, died on Thursday, June 12, after collapsing during a polo match in England. He was 53. The Telegraph and The Mirror reported that Kapur, the chairman of global car parts giant Sona Comstar, died from anaphylactic shock after a bee possibly stung him in the mouth during the sporting event in Windsor. "He was full of life, laughing, joking, then gone in an instant," an insider told The Mirror. According to The Telegraph, witnesses noted that Kapur said, "I've swallowed something," ahead of the medical incident. A friend of Kapur's told Telegraph Sport: "He will be greatly missed not only by his family and friends but the local community around his club as he employed so many people and made so many friends — he was fun, kind and generous. He didn't distinguish between his grooms or high net worth friends — when he had a party, everyone was invited and everyone was equal." According to the Mayo Clinic, anaphylaxis causes the immune system to release chemicals that can cause a person to go into shock. "Blood pressure drops suddenly, and the airways narrow, blocking breathing. Signs and symptoms include a rapid, weak pulse; a skin rash; and nausea and vomiting. Common triggers include certain foods, some medications, insect venom and latex," the Mayo Clinic explains. Kapur was an avid polo player and often played with members of the British royal family, including Prince William. Kapur was married to Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor from 2003 to 2016, and they have two children: daughter Samaira, 20, and son Kiaan, 14. Following their split, Kapur wed model Priya Sachdev in 2017. They shared a son, Azarias, 7. Kapur inherited Sona Comstar from his father, Dr. Surinder Kapur, who founded the automotive component company in 1987. In a statement regarding his death, Sona Comstar said: 'We are deeply saddened by the sudden demise of our Chairman, Mr. Sunjay Kapur. He was a visionary leader whose passion, insight and dedication shaped the identity and success of our company.' Just hours before his death, Kapur had shared his sympathies with the victims of the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. "Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad," he wrote on X. "My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour." Kapur's death is just the latest tragedy for members of his family. In January, his former brother-in-law, Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, was attacked and stabbed multiple times during a home invasion at his property in Mumbai, India. Staff from Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, where Khan received treatment, told the BBC that the actor "sustained a major injury to the thoracic spinal cord due to a lodged knife in the spine.' Khan recovered well from his injuries, returning to work in March. Read the original article on People

Ferrari Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton has opened up on his long-term future with Ferrari amid recent performance struggles. The Briton also revealed his preference for team principal Fred Vasseur, considering the recent rumors of his position being under threat. Hamilton's Ferrari journey has been under scrutiny, given his bombshell move from Mercedes ahead of the 2025 season, in the quest for his eighth world championship title. However, his journey so far with the Red team has been filled with learnings and struggles, apart from the burst of performance witnessed during the sprint race in China that Hamilton won. Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain and Scuderia Ferrari speaks in the Drivers Press Conference during previews ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Canada at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on June 12, 2025 in Montreal, was upset after the Spanish Grand Prix and even stated to the media in a dejected tone that he had no answers. That led many to question if the seven-time world champion was at the end of his F1 career and contemplating retiring from the sport. When asked by the media, he confirmed his commitment to Ferrari during the press conference in Canada. He said: "To everyone that's writing stories of me considering not racing — I mean, I literally only just started, firstly, here with Ferrari, and I'm here for several years. "I'm here for the long haul. So there is no question in where my head's at and what I'm working towards achieving with this team. "So there's zero doubts. Please stop making up stuff." Hamilton admitted enjoying the current challenge with his new team and stressed that the current SF-25 F1 car has not been designed from his input. He also revealed that Ferrari will soon shift focus to the 2026 car, adding that his contribution will be present on the new car. "We're in that period where we obviously have to start working on next year's car. "The car I'm racing right now is not a car that I've had input in developing and evolving over the past four years. I'm driving a car that Charles has obviously been a part of developing [and] knows very, very well. "It's challenging, but I'm enjoying that challenge." The rumor mill also churned out stories about Vasseur and that his position in Ferrari remains under scrutiny. However, Hamilton has dismissed the speculation, stressing that he joined Ferrari because of Vasseur and that he would want him to stay. He said: "It's definitely not nice to hear that there's stories like that that are out there. "Firstly, I love working with Fred. Fred's the main reason I'm in this team and got the opportunity to be here, which I'm forever grateful for. And we're in this together. We're working hard in the background. Things aren't perfect, but for me, I'm here to work with with the team, but also with Fred. "I want Fred here. I do believe Fred is the person to take us to the top. And so that's that." He added: "I'm here to win with Fred, and he has my full support."
