"Team will cover distance of around 1,032 km," says Uttarakhand CM on ITBP's 'Himadri-2025' trekking expedition
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], June 14 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday participated in the flag-off ceremony of the ITBP's border-level trekking expedition 'Himadri-2025', and said that the team will cover around 1,032 km and the journey will help promote tourism, culture, and development in nearby villages.
Speaking to the reporters, Pushkar Singh Dhami said, 'This team will cover a distance of around 1032 km. It is a challenging journey, due to which the nearby villages will get a chance to come forward from tourism, culture and development point of view...'
Dhami further said that the Char Dham Yatra is going on smoothly, with around 28 lakh devotees having offered prayers so far, and added that the safety of pilgrims remains the top priority.
'The Yatra is going on smoothly. It has been reviewed at many levels. The safety of devotees has always been our priority...Till now, around 28 lakhs of devotees have offered prayers during the Char Dham Yatra,' Dhami said.
Earlier on Monday, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) ordered special audits and enhanced surveillance of helicopter operators conducting shuttle and charter services during the ongoing Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand.
The move comes after several recent incidents involving helicopter operations in the hill state.
The aviation watchdog has also suspended the operations of Kestrel Aviation Private Limited with immediate effect after one of its helicopters made an emergency landing in the middle of a highway in Guptkashi on June 7. Five passengers on board the chopper, en route to Kedarnath from Rudraprayag, narrowly escaped.
'This is in addition to the suspension of operations of another operator for safety violations in May 2025,' DGCA said in a statement.
As a precautionary measure, the DGCA is also reviewing the necessity of curtailing helicopter operations to the Char Dham entirely if required.
It has started actively monitoring the live camera feeds provided by the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) at Kedarnath, the statement said.
The aviation watchdog said that any deviation from standard operating procedures (SOP) by helicopter operators is detected in real time, allowing for immediate corrective measures.
'Today, two helicopter operators conducting shuttle and charter services to Kedarnath from their respective helipads failed to adhere to SOPs, particularly regarding proper helicopter parking procedures,' said the DGCAA safety investigation has been initiated to identify contributing factors, including mechanical failures, operational errors, and weather-related challenges, the statement said.
Additionally, directives have been issued to all helicopter operators, restricting operations to Out of Ground Effect (OGE) conditions till further notice. (ANI)

He assured them that other restrictions would be lifted after a thorough security review. Sharing an update on social media platform X, LG Sinha said, 'I've ordered reopening of some of the tourist spots in Kashmir & Jammu Divisions, which were temporarily closed as precautionary measures. Betab Valley & Parks in Pahalgam Market, Verinag Garden, Kokernag Garden and Achabal Garden to be reopened from 17th June.' He added, 'Other tourist destinations being reopened includes Badamwari Park, Duck Park, Taqdeer Park in Srinagar, Sarthal, Dhaggar in Kathua, Devi Pindi, Siyad Baba, Sula Park in Reasi, Guldanda & Jai valley in Doda and Pancheri in Udhampur. One dead after landslip hits Kedarnath walking route, yatra suspended from Sonpryag till further orders
One person was killed and two sustained injuries after a landslip, triggered by incessant rainfall, hit the Junglechatti walking route of Kedarnath in Uttarakhand on Sunday (June 15, 2025). Authorities suspended the Kedarnath yatra from Sonprayag until further notice. Citing safety concerns amid the adverse weather, the Rudrapryag Police appealed to the devotees coming to Kedarnath temple to remain safe wherever they are. 'If possible, find accommodation and stay put till the weather gets better,' the police said through their social media handles. The police added that security is being provided for devotees walking on the footpath. They also appealed to pilgrims planning the Kedarnath yatra to check weather forecasts and travel advisories before making their journey. District disaster management officials said that only the pilgrims returning from Kedarnath temple were allowed to proceed towards Sonprayag. 'Those going uphill were stopped,' the officials added. According to the Uttarakhand Tourism department, Char Dham Yatra, which started from May 2, has been witnessing a massive rush this year. Over 10 lakh people visited the Kedarnath temple alone in the past 45 days. The metrological department has issued a yellow alert for Rudraprayag and nearby areas for the rest of the week. District authorities have taken precautionary measures, especially in landslip-prone zones along the route.

Chardham helicopter services suspended for two days after Kedarnath crash
