Amen Teklay: Memorial service for schoolboy killed in Glasgow
A memorial service has been held for Amen Teklay, the teenager killed earlier this month in Glasgow.The 15-year-old died after being found seriously injured in the St George's Cross area of the city on 5 March.His loved ones gathered at King's Park Parish Church on Monday to remember the schoolboy, who has been described as "bright" and "kind".Plans are being made for Amen's body to be flown to Ethiopia where a full funeral will take place.
Amen, who was originally from Eritrea, had been living in Glasgow with his father for a number of years. He also recently received "right to remain" status in the UK.
There were emotional scenes outside the church after the ceremony as Amen's coffin was driven away in a hearse. Jamie O'Neill, Amen's Support Worker at Kingsway Community Connections said: "Today was on opportunity for people to grieve and say goodbye to Amen before he is returned to his family, who are in Ethiopia. "It has been a tough few weeks to process everything going on and it hurts to see young people in tears whilst mourning the loss of someone so special to them."I hope we can continue to pull together to support each other and forgive when we can. "Amen's father has been clear that he does not wish what has happened to Amen, to happen to anyone else, and that for us all to work towards."
Three teenagers, aged 14, 15 and 16, have appeared at Glasgow Sheriff court charged in connection with Amen's death.Two are charged with murder whilst the 15-year-old is facing an assault charge.All have made no plea and the 14-year-old and 16-year-old have been remanded in custody.A GoFundMe crowdfunding appeal set up to raise money for Amen's family is close to reaching its £10,000 target.

Ashton Jones, a 29-year-old from Cwmbran, travelled to Bangkok on May 30 before being admitted to hospital on June 3 having suddenly disappeared while on a night out. His friends spent hours searching for Ashton after he went missing from the nightclub they were in — only to find him in Chonburi Hospital on a life support machine and having emergency brain surgery. Now Ashton's grandmother Beverley Walker has told WalesOnline that Thai police have informed the family of an arrest. She said police gave no detail other than that the man is suspected of assaulting Ashton. Ashton did not regain consciousness until Monday — six days after his admission — but remains bedbound and unable to talk. The young dad-of-two, who is epileptic, has been having fits while in hospital and has been "out of it", said his gran. "It is a terrible situation," added 68-year-old Beverley. "Especially when Ashton is so far away, we do feel helpless." The language barrier means the cost of his treatment is unclear to the family but they understand it to be substantial. They have been desperately trying to raise funds for Ashton's care and to bring him home — with a Gofundme page so far raising almost £15,000 towards a £50,000 target — and his father is due to fly to Thailand tonight to be at his side. Ashton travelled to Thailand with a lifelong friend and on arrival met up with another friend. "It was a spur-of-the-moment holiday. Ashton was really enjoying himself, sending us pictures of himself riding elephants." After becoming separated from Ashton in a nightclub his friends spent hours looking for him and eventually found him in hospital. One of the friends is still in Thailand acting as a point of contact with the hospital though he is unable to speak Thai. A Foreign Office spokesman said: 'We are supporting a British man who has been hospitalised in Thailand and are in contact with the local authorities.' Beth Martin, 28, from Portsmouth, flew to Turkey with her husband and their two children for what was meant to be a dream getaway - but became delirious on arrival and died the following day A bombshell report has revealed the supposed cause of death of a British mum who died suddenly on a family holiday in Turkey - where she had her heart removed without her family's permission, her devastated loved ones claim. Beth Martin, 28, from Portsmouth, had flown out to Turkey on April 27 with her husband Luke and their two children, aged eight and five, for what was meant to be a dream getaway. But within 24 hours of arriving, she became delirious and was rushed to hospital. Despite being moved into intensive care, she tragically died the next day, on April 28. Now, weeks later, a forensic report has revealed the supposed cause of her sudden death. The findings, published by Turkey's Forensic Medicine Institution and reported by local outlet Sozcu, claim Beth died as a result of food poisoning and its complications, and found 'no evidence' of traumatic injury. The report, published by the Forensic Medicine Institution, said: 'It has been concluded that Martin's death occurred as a result of food poisoning and its complications.' It added that a full examination of Beth's heart had been completed, and that tissue samples from the heart are being handed back to UK authorities today. On the day Beth was admitted to hospital, her husband, Luke Martin, was allegedly banned from seeing his wife and given little to no information about her condition. He was then accused of poisoning her by Turkish police and subjected to interrogation - though later cleared of any wrongdoing. 'To top it off, I had to break the news to my babies that their mum isn't coming home. It broke me,' Luke wrote on social media. 'Two weeks ago, me, my wife and two kids set out for a family holiday to Turkey. Only three of us made it back. I lost my wife, my children lost their mum, we lost the biggest piece of the puzzle that was our family.' According to a GoFundMe page set up by relatives, the Martin family were left in the dark about the severity of Beth's condition and were forced to carry her body in a bag through the hospital. When told it could take more than two weeks to repatriate her remains, Luke paid thousands of pounds to bring her body back on the same flight as his. Doctors are understood to have raised concerns about Beth's heart before her death, but her loved ones say they were not made aware of what was happening. A UK post-mortem later confirmed her heart had been removed in Turkey without permission, according to her loved ones. Luke has since described the ordeal as 'the worst and most traumatic week of [his] entire life', adding that the loss of his wife has left the family shattered beyond words.

Charity 'devastated' after wheels stolen off bus for the disabled
A charity that provides transport for people with disabilities said it is "devastated" after the wheels were stolen from one of its & District Transport for the Disabled said it called police after discovering the theft from a Ford Transit van on Wednesday minibus had been parked in the Lidl car park on Hungerdown Peel, chair of trustees at the charity, said it hoped to get the van "back on the road by Wednesday", but that the replacement wheels had cost £900. The charity, which has been running for more than 50 years, provides transport for disabled people and vulnerable adults including shopping trips and medical the theft, it said it was forced to move its other four vehicles to a more secure site, and has set up a GoFundMe page to cover the cost. 'We need all our buses' Mr Peel said that many people in the town relied upon the charity's services."Some [care homes] like to get their clients out, and we provide transport if they're wheelchair bound."We've got three lift buses that will take wheelchairs and schools use them as well.""We provide services four days a week and we've got lots of school bookings for next week, so we need all the buses we can get."Wiltshire Police said its investigation into the theft was "ongoing".
